All ORIGINAL 1969 FJ40L

Up for auction is this ALL ORIGINAL SURVIVOR 1969 FJ40L Factory Soft Top in Freeborn Red. This is the real deal and they are only “All ORIGINAL” once and has not been Rattle Can Restored. What you see is what you get!! The paint is in AMAZING condition and All Original Inside and Out. The seats have original upolstery with a few small tears in the front passenger side. There is only 1 small rust spot above the driver tail light (See Picture). The Cruiser lived with the Original Owner for 41+ Years and still retains its ORIGINAL BLACK, CA PLATES. I have the Original Bill of Sale from Con-Ferr in Burbank CA and at the time of purchase they installed a roll bar and Warn Hubs as a dealer option. Also included with the sale is the Original Warranty Booklet (coupons end at the 18K service which also supports the 22k mile theory) and Owners Manual. The Tool Kit and Jack are also in great condition (the grease gun is still in the OEM plastic) the tool kit is only missing a couple of screw drivers. The Odometer says 22K and that might be original since it still rides on the Original Dunlop R3 tires that were OEM and discontinued in the early 1970’s. There is very little wear on shifter, Doors, latches, seats and other key areas(radiator still has the OEM Decal on the top tank and radiator cap with safety chain still attached). The Headlights are Original OEM Koito. The Original Door Straps are in excellent shape and all of the wiring is OEM original and not altered in any way and everything works as it should. The Dash and speedo cluster look almost new and they are so clean and it has the RARE "Darth Vader" light next to the glove box. This is a Time Machine and would make a great addition to a “Collection” because it is so ORIGINAL. The frame has surface rust which is normal for a 40+ year old cruiser where the factory black paint is flaking off but if you sand it and paint it the frame will look new but I would not recommend doing so as it will take away from the Patina and it won’t be all original anymore. The top is Original to the vehicle and is currently having new windows installed and the stitching “Re-Stitched”.I will post a pic of the top on when I get it back from the canvas shop. The top pic is of the top prior to cleaning and window repairs. Spector OffRoad sells New Factory Soft Tops for $900 if you wanted a new one. The Factory Soft doors have the Original Fabric and the Original Plexi windows are in “New Condition” with no Hazing or Major scratches. I encourage potential buyers to come see in person and test drive. Runs Great and has had a new Brake Master installed (old one leaked and removed paint from interior fire wall by pedals) and New Fuel and Accelerator pump as well. The Original “Glass Bowl” fuel filter is still on the FJ and has a new filter and seal. This 40 runs great and the transmission and transfercase shift great with the original column shifter. This 40 has ALL ORIGINAL PAINT INSIDE AND OUT and the 2 flaws are the small spot of rust above the driver taillight and the passenger front fender dent(see pic). Clear CA Title. They don't get any more "Original" than this. Remember that there have been NOT been any attempts to cover any flaws with paint, liner or diamond plate. THIS IS THE REAL DEAL!! What you see is WHAT YOU GET! This Cruiser will only continue to appreciate in value..  E-Mail me with any questions or to schedule a test drive.

A $500 Non Refundable Deposit is required within 24HRS after the end of the auction. I can assist with shipping but arrangements are the buyers responsibility. Only SERIOUS BIDDERS please! The Reserve is lower than Comparables on E-Bay.

America was the unexpected theme at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show thanks to Trump

Wed, Jan 11 2017

President-elect Donald Trump was not in attendance at this year's Detroit Auto Show, but it sure seemed like he was the target audience for many of the press conferences and announcements surrounding the event. Several manufacturers chose to play up existing and future commitments to the US in general and American jobs specifically in their presentations to the press, and we're pretty sure that has everything to do with Trump's recent targeting of automakers on Twitter. To us, it seemed automakers were going on the offensive to try and preempt any future tweet-shaming for investing in auto manufacturing anywhere but the US. The pro-America sentiment started the week prior to the auto show, with Ford announcing that it would build several future electrified vehicles at its Flat Rock Assembly Plant in Michigan and also cancel a $1.6 billion factory planned for Mexico. Ford announced the two items on the same day, but the reality is that they likely have no relation to each other; the Mexican plant is being skipped because the company doesn't need the extra capacity to build the Ford Focus right now. Trump was still happy to share the news on Twitter. Then, on Sunday, FCA announced it would invest $1 billion in manufacturing plants in Ohio and Michigan to produce the new Jeep Wagoneer, Grand Wagoneer, and Wrangler-based pickup. It's not as though those potential new jobs were on their way out of the US, necessarily, but FCA took the opportunity to mention that plant upgrades at the Warren Truck Plant would allow the company to build Ram heavy duty trucks, which are currently assembled in Mexico, there. CEO Sergio Marchionne confirmed that Trump and his proposed tariffs had nothing to do with the decision. We certainly believe that, but we also have to believe that the timing of the release, positive outcome for America, and zero gain for Mexico were all orchestrated. Again, Trump sent out a victory tweet as if this had been his doing. Ford then used its press conference at the show on Monday to reiterate the plans for Flat Rock and also confirm that the Ford Bronco and Ranger nameplates will be returning to the US market, and that both will be built at a plant in Michigan. Announcements of manufacturing locations are usually aimed at the UAW, which certainly has a stake in these things, but again this one was broadcast to the auto show crowd in general.

Toyota promises a next-generation Land Cruiser is on its way

Mon, Apr 22 2019

On sale since the 2008 model year and facelifted twice in the interim, the Toyota Land Cruiser has lately begun rolling out the special editions. Last year we got the 2019 Lexus LX Inspiration, this year we got the 2020 Land Cruiser Heritage Edition. This likely means a changing of the model guard is close, the 300-Series Land Cruiser on the horizon to replace the current 200-Series. When Motor Authority asked Toyota SVP Bill Fay about the U.S. getting the next generation, Fay replied, "We are fully committed to the Land Cruiser for the foreseeable future." The reason for the question could have been Land Cruiser sales figures for the past 14 years, when the model never cleared 5,000 units. The swankier Lexus LX sibling sells in greater numbers, but even lumping the two trucks, they've crested 10,000 sales just twice since 2005. On top of that, two of the largest regional markets for the Land Cruiser are Australia and the Middle East, which have different regulatory regimes, and the 2019 Highlander has a three-row option. Why carry on with the Land Cruiser here? Fay told MA the body-on-frame bruiser is a "heritage vehicle," a staple in the U.S. lineup since 1958. But the Cruiser that comes next is expected to LS-ify its powertrain formula, which means getting rid of V8s for V6s. The 5.7-liter V8 with 381 horsepower, 401 pound-feet of torque, and an EPA rating of 15 miles per gallon combined should go away. The 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 in the Lexus LS 500 gets the nod to take its place, as the Land Cruiser make concessions to fuel economy and emissions standards. A poster on a forum said it's possible that a Dynamic Force version of that engine might appear. As is, that engine makes 416 hp and 442 lb-ft in the luxury sedan and is mated to a 10-speed automatic, the same transmission said to replace the current eight-speed in the Land Cruiser. Automotive mediums predict a hybrid Cruiser, too, potentially with the same 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V6 and 10-speed auto in the LS hybrid, putting out 354 combined horsepower in the sedan. Because there are so many Land Cruiser versions around the world, it's impossible to say whether V8 options will die globally. Land Cruiser fans, either through desperation or good intel, say that isn't the case.
