1994 Toyota Land Cruiser Diff Locks Only 73k Miles! 3rd Row, Gray Leather Fzj80 on 2040-cars
Arroyo Grande, California, United States
| ****Relisted because winner of previous auction was unable to complete transaction for personal reasons. Please do not bid if you are not 100% sure on purchasing**** OVERVIEW: This is a very well kept example of unmodified 1994 FZJ80 Land Cruiser with only 73k miles, 3rd row seats, and optional front and rear Differential Locks. I recently bought this FZJ80 to build up for off road use, but it is so clean I can't bare to alter it. I will attempt to explain to the best of my knowledge in detail the condition of everything. If you have any questions do not hesitate to contact me via email. If you'd like leave me your number, we can talk over the phone. HISTORY: I've only owned this vehicle for a month or so. I purchased it from a gentleman in San Jose, CA who had recently inherited it from the passing of his brother. He stated his brother had owned it since it was "almost new". He also stated this was only one of seven cars he had just inherited from his brother inluding a bunch of high end sports cars and that when they were not being driven they were garaged in what he said was a huge 10+ car garage, (hence the low mileage, and condition). Clean title and pink slip is in my name and in hand. It looks as though I am the 4th owner. The third owner was the guy I bought it from and he had it since 10/17/13. His brother, 2nd owner, had it since 4/2/97 with 47k miles. EXTERIOR: Color is Dark Emerald Pearl Green. Appears to be the original paint with no signs of clear coat fading. There are a handful of tiny paint touch up spots on different areas of the vehicle apparently from the previous owner. Has factory roof rack, factory running boards, factory mud flaps, tow package with wiring harness. See link to pictures for all details of any imperfections that caught my eye. INTERIOR:  Gray interior is very clean. There is no evidence of tabacco / smoking use. Leather Seats are in great condition including the 3rd row seats, with power seats working in all directions.  Driver seat has the most wear but no rips or tears, (see picture link).  Carpet is very clean throughout with factory floor mats for front, middle, 3rd row, (had never seen the narrow 3rd row floor mat before) and rear cargo mat.  Door panels and headliner are very clean.  All interior and dash lights work as they should, (even the often burned out "D" light still illuminates on the dash!). Sunroof tilts and opens/closes as intended.  I poured water down all four sunroof drains and they all flowed to the grounds smoothly. All power SUSPENSION/RUNNING GEAR/TIRES: It appears to have the factory coil springs with very clean, (or perhaps newer), Bilstiens in all corners. The 4.5L inline 6 runs smooth, and A442F transmission shifts smoothly. Power steering works well with no issues. Coolant is red in color, consistant with factory Toyota coolant. Engine oil is full, with no signs of water/coolant mixing. Brake, Auto Transmission, transfer case, front/rear axle fluids are all properly full with no signs of over use, neglect or metal filings. No apparent coolant, oil or gear fluid leaks. Front axle knuckles look clean and free of leaks. No engine codes or check engine lights. Air filter is the factory Toyota washable type. Tires are Toyo Open Country 275/70R16 and look practically new, with lots of tread, (see pictures) with no cupping or uneven wear marks. Factory spare has Michelin 275/70R16 in factory location. Factory jack and tool kit included. DRIVE/4WD: It accelerates and drives fantastic down the road at all speeds, no shimmies, shakes or pulling to either side. The ABS power brakes operate properly and stop great. Four Wheel Drive; The 4wd low shifts as it should which activates the CDL and ABS lights to illuminate on the dash. Both the front and rear differential lockers activate within a matter of seconds. When activating the front or rear differential the selinoid can be heard activating each locker which changes each blinking light on the dash to stay on solid. Lockers and 4wd hi/low both work great! PAYMENT: $500 due via paypal within 3 days of auction end, (if you don't have paypal, contact me before bidding and we can work something out). The remaining balance due upon vehicle pickup in for the form of cash, cashiers check or money transfer, (we could even meet at a bank if you prefer, I've heard bad stories about fake cashiers checks). SHIPPING: Winning bidder will need to make arrangements for picking vehicle up from my location. I have no experience with shipping, but I will assist on my end if winning bidder chooses to ship. Buyer is responsible for shipping and all fees associated with it. I reserve the right to end auction early since the vehicle is available for sale locally too. Currently California smogged, and in smog cert in CA database which is good for 90 days. Smog performed on 2/18/2014. On Mar-30-14 at 21:24:29 PDT, seller added the following information: UPDATE 3/30: To answer questions I've added about 25 more pictures (see photobucket link above) showing the keys and manual, undercarriage, wheel wells, body and bumper and window seal details. The only surface rust on anything is on the tow kit. The undercarriage probably needs a pressure washing to get the years of road grime off. Detail of wheel wells shows how clean and rust free they are. Window seals all appear in nice condition and un-cracked. All glass says TOYOTA on it except for the front windshield. There are a couple, almost not noticeable, tiny stars on the windshield. As far as the body I'm calling it extremely clean, especially for a 20 y/o vehicle. There are a dozen or so dots of touch up paint the previous owner must have done. It could probably use a good waxing, then it would really shine. There is a small ding on both of the rear passenger doors , with no damage to paint, (very difficult to capture with camera). Also looks like the PO had a 'push bar' on the front bumper. This must have left two areas to the right and left of license plate where it looks like it wore through the paint of the bumper. There is also a small ding, (1/4" or so), on front of hood and scratch on chrome grill that is in line with the marks on bumper to the right of license plate. This is my first vehicle I've sold on Ebay, and it didn't really dawn on me that most people aren't going to see it before bidding or winning. So I'm trying to point out every flaw because I know I wouldn't want to be surprised if I was buying a car; sight unseen. Again, see photobucket link above. Feel free to ask any other questions you may have. |

2018 Technology of the Year Award | We chat with Lexus about the LC 500h's hybrid system
Mon, Jan 15 2018Every year, Autoblog editors test dozens and dozens of the newest vehicles available, sometimes even before they're available. From those vehicles, we select the ones we think provide the most innovative technology in the industry. Then we pare the list down to the very best, test them again, and vote on our winner for Technology of the Year. This year, Lexus's multi-stage hybrid system — as tested in the LC 500h — came out ahead of the rest of the finalists. We chose the 2018 Detroit Auto Show to hand over the award to Lexus Group Vice President and General Manager Jeff Bracken. He was kind enough to sit down with Autoblog Senior Editor Alex Kierstein and Green Editor John Snyder at the Lexus stand to talk about the hybrid system, what it does, and what it means for the future of Lexus and Toyota. Check out the video above, and follow along for all our coverage from the 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, where we are taking a look at all of the new cars and technology that we'll see in the near future. Perhaps the next winner of Autoblog's Technology of the Year award is sitting somewhere on the Detroit show floor. Toyota teases mysterious RND Concept
Wed, Jan 21 2015Toyota is being very secretive about its newly teased RND Concept. The image above is all that the Japanese automaker is showing at the moment, and it's not much to go by. However, the wait to find out won't be very long, as the automaker is unveiling this very mysterious vehicle on January 26 in the UK. Making the RND even more intriguing is that this isn't just a concept pointing the way towards some nebulous future vehicle. Toyota claims that the model is production ready, and the automaker already has pricing, supply and manufacturing space prepared. We likely shouldn't expect a super luxury sedan or sports coupe, though, because Toyota says that the RND is meant for "the widest possible market." Could it possibly be some sort of inexpensive, electric vehicle like the Renault Twizy, then? With just the hind of a taillight, a slash of chrome and what might be an intake, there's not much styling work to go on here. Although, Toyota is making huge promises about the design; it claims the RND "has the potential to transform the look of every vehicle on the road." It's odd to see an automaker other than Tesla reveal a new vehicle outside of a major world auto show, which piques our interest about what Toyota is doing here. Read the company's press release below and let us know what you think the Japanese automaker is up to in Comments. THE NEW TOYOTA RND CONCEPT: SNEAK PREVIEW First details of new model released ahead of world debut next week Toyota is breaking with motor industry convention by revealing a new product outside the familiar surroundings of an international motor show. Instead its new RND Concept will make its world debut in the UK on 26th January, ready for fast-track development that should see it changing the face of motoring within weeks. The first image released today hints at how the concept's design marks a radical shift in direction for Toyota, taking the "fun-to-drive" qualities of its cars to a higher level. Although presented as a concept, Toyota acknowledges the RND will be unveiled in its production-ready form. Manufacturing and product supply have been secured and on-the-road pricing has been fixed at a level that will make the RND Concept accessible to the widest possible market. Toyota is confident, too, that the RND Concept's impact will go far beyond its own model range, having the potential to transform the look of every vehicle on the road.
Details about next-gen Toyota Prius emerge
Tue, 28 Jan 2014The Toyota Prius is undeniably the king of the hybrid market in the United States, with a 39.4 percent market share in 2013. With the next-generation Prius likely to go on sale in 2015, Toyota is trying to build an even more efficient hybrid to keep its control of the market.
Keeping cost down will be one of the major concerns of the new Prius. The next generation will ride on the new, modular Toyota New Global Architecture platform. The lighter underpinnings will improve efficiency and will reduce production costs by allowing for more shared components among vehicles. Toyota will not reveal how many vehicles will use the new platform. But even with the cheaper platform, price will remain a concern. Toyota is still deciding whether all versions of the next Prius will use lithium-ion batteries or whether some models will stick with the heavier nickel-metal hydride batteries to keep cost down.
Of course, the reason most people buy the Prius is because of its great fuel efficiency. Toyota will aim for at least an 8 percent improvement in fuel economy in the next Prius, which would increase it to 58 miles per gallon city and 52 mpg highway.
