Bought this truck about 5 years ago. its body was in rough shape but the engine was strong with low original miles. Bought a SECOND cruiser (body only) so that the shop painting it could chop all the rust and weld on pieces rather then bondo/fiberglass them. Had it painted in a custom gun metal gray with flake in it. Over the years I've put in close to 17k into restoring it. Truck looks great. Definitely not a "show" truck but still looks great. Runs strong and Ive done lots of service and maintenance to assure it. here is a list of some of the things Ive done to it though Im sure its not all of it:
- Professionally painted a gun metal grey with silver flake in it
- all new BLACK ROCKCRUSHER Rims 16X8 6X5.5 -20MM
- 4 new P265/70R-16 Kumho Road Venture (less then 3k miles on them)
- new clutch and clutch assembly (everything replaced new)
- all 4 shocks replacked with Rancho shocks
- all underbody painted with rust proofer/stopper
- entire exhaust replaced with brand new stock exhaust (this is probably the only thing I regret. To do it again I would have installed a performance exhaust to give it a little growl)
- new grill and painted black
- full tune up (filters, carb work, plugs etc)
- ac blows hard and constant (frion needs a re-fill but havent done it this summer as I have driven it minimally)
- new rear bumper from cruisernet.com
- new battery 4 months ago
- had professionally installed 2.5 inch HFS shackles to give it a little lift with going nuts
- oil changes meticulously at 3 months/3k miles (never gotten to 3k miles)
- brand new kenwood head unit with MP3 and IPOD/IPAD direct connect capabilities
- 4 new pioneer speakers (nothing crazy, but sound clear and pretty good)
- Brand new rear leaf springs. The old ones were completely done. These had to be custom made and installed by a shop that does suspension work for local police and firetrucks. The front one will need to be replaced sooner then later and I had planned on doing it but now that Im selling I just wanted to give the head up. The whole thing ran me about $650.
Anway, I am sure there are a bunch of other things ive done over the years that im forgetting. I am not a mechanic and other then checking the oil and waxing the car I have not done any of the work myself. I am selling it AS IS but have put a lot of money and time into this truck so I hope whomever gets it enjoys it. Wife is pregnant so toys have to go.

This map reveals the cleanest vehicles based on location
Thu, Apr 28 2016Naysayers love to point out how dirty the electricity grid mix is when it comes to charging electric vehicles. Curmudgeons are eager to jump into any conversation about EVs to enlighten the lucky listeners about how plug-in cars contribute to pollution, sometimes even throwing in a dash of climate-change denial for good measure. (Thanks, buddy. Pray, tell me more about the plight of oppressed SUV owners.) Unless someone buys an EV just because they think they're cool (which, yeah, they often are), they probably have at least a passable understanding of their environmental pros and cons. As many EV owners are already aware, location has a lot to do with any particular plug-in car's carbon footprint. Still, there's always more to know, and knowledge is not a bad thing, especially if one uses it to do the right thing. That's why this handy-dandy map from Carnegie Mellon University is so interesting. CMU researchers have compiled information about the lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions of various EVs based on where they're charged, as compared to gasoline-powered vehicles. The researchers looked at the Nissan Leaf, Chevrolet Volt, and Prius Plug-In Hybrid versus the gasoline-dependent Toyota Prius hybrid and the stop-start-equipped Mazda3 with i-ELOOP and compared grams of CO2 emitted per mile. CMU takes into account the grid mix, ambient temperature, and driving patterns. CMU takes into account the grid mix based on county, as well as ambient temperature and driving patterns in terms of miles traveled on the highway or in the city. For instance, if you drive a Nissan Leaf in urban areas of California, Texas, or Florida, your carbon footprint is lower than it would be if you were driving a standard Toyota Prius. However, if you charge your Leaf in the Midwest or the South, for the most part, you've got a larger carbon footprint than the Prius. If you live in the rural Midwest, you'd probably even be better off driving a Mazda3. Throughout the country, the Chevrolet Volt has a larger carbon footprint than the Toyota Prius, but a smaller one than the Mazda3 in a lot of urban counties in the US. The Prius and Prius Plug-In are relatively equal across the US. Having trouble keeping it straight? That's not surprising. The comparisons between plug-in and gasoline vehicles are much more nuanced than the loudest voices usually let on.
4 automakers agree to $553M settlement of Takata airbag claims
Thu, May 18 2017WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Four automakers agreed to a $553 million settlement to address class-action economic loss claims covering owners of nearly 16 million vehicles with potentially defective Takata airbag inflators, according to court documents filed on Thursday. Toyota's share of the settlement costs is $278.5 million, followed by BMW at $131 million, Mazda at $76 million and Subaru at $68 million. According to a press release from Plaintiffs' Committee for Takata Airbag Product Liability Litigation, the funds for the settlement are aimed at getting more cars with faulty airbags fixed. At the time of writing, Toyota had the greatest recall completion percentage of 31.89 percent followed by Subaru with 31.37 percent. Mazda has completed repairs on 18.16 percent of affected cars, and BMW brings up the rear with 16.48 percent completion. Some settlement funds will go to an outreach campaign to increase awareness, while other funds will be used to reimburse people for any costs accrued to get their cars fixed. These costs can include rental cars, child care, lost wages, or any other reasonable costs associated with bringing in a vehicle for repairs. Furthermore, a customer support program will be funded with settlement money to handle any additional repairs or adjustments that could become necessary in the 75,000 miles following the airbag replacement. Lawsuits against Honda, Ford and Nissan have not been settled, lawyers said. Takata inflators, which can explode with excessive force and unleash metal shrapnel inside cars and trucks, are blamed for at least 16 deaths and more than 180 injuries worldwide. The safety defect has prompted recalls worldwide of about 100 million inflators by more than a dozen major automakers. Toyota recalling 11,200 Scion iQ models over faulty passenger sensors
Wed, 07 Nov 2012Toyota has announced a voluntary recall of 11,200 Scion iQ models from the 2012 and 2013 model years. According to the manufacturer, the problem with these pint-sized hatchbacks concerns the front passenger Occupant Classification System (OCS) weight sensor cables.
The OCS sensors in the front passenger seat control the operation of things like the airbags and seatbelt pre-tensioner. In these affected models, the cables for these sensors located in the seat track can become damaged as the passenger seat slides forward and backward. And if the cables are damaged, the airbags and seatbelt pre-tensioner may not function properly.
No injuries or crashes have been reported in conjunction with this issue.
