1971 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ55 - Inline 6 Nice - NO RESERVE!

I have up for sale my daily driver and weekend warrior - 1971 Toyota LandCruiser FJ55 featuring the original Inline 6 engine fully rebuilt less than 4 years ago and runs like a top. Only 35K miles since the rebuild and starts/runs great!  3 speed on the tree shifts great through all gears including reverse.  4 inch lift kit paired with Pro Comp 33 x 12.5 x 15LT X Terrain off road tires and a new two tone paint job gives this Cruiser a stunning look!  Great work or play truck with reliability and confidence.  This by far is the most attention getting vehicle I've ever owned and it brings smiles to people who watch it drive around town.

All body panels are very nice now and frame is solid!  Some surface rust here and there but all the prep work was completed before the painting process.  Both front and rear bumpers are in great shape.  There is a place to mount a winch to the front bumper but I never could get my hands on a Warn winch or desired choice.  Headlights are LED (nice), brake lights, gas/temp/pressure gauges work as they should and the same goes for the aftermarket tach.  Wipers work great, variable speed.  Sometimes the turn signal blinkers are intermittent.  Rear window motor works great and all glass is original and in great shape.  The seats might need some stitching around the edges due to normal wear.  The roof is in good condition and no leaks.

Some recent maintenance work completed:
Jan/Feb. 2014-new spark plugs, plug wires, air filter, starter (with warranty), front and rear performance shocks, driver side rear wheel cylinders, steering bar tie rod ends, brake lines/hoses, brake shoes, fuel filters, and fuel lines.  I noticed a very small leak coming from the passenger side wheel cylinder just the other day but its isolated.  All receipts to follow with the new owner.  This Land Cruiser FJ55 is not perfect but certainly a lot of care and love has made this SUV a joy to own.  This FJ55 is registered and I have a clean NC title in hand for easy transfer of ownership.

Please: NO INTERNATIONAL BIDDING!  US FUNDS ONLY ACCEPTED.  This 71 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ55 is sold as is, where is in Sunny Wilmington, NC.  No warranty expressed or implied.  Please asking questions before bidding and feel free to set up a time to view if you are able to.  I have the right to end auction early if pre-qualified buyer is located.  Thanks for your interest and happy bidding!

Toyota asking NHTSA for waiver on 206K vehicles

Fri, 14 Mar 2014

Toyota has filed a petition with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration asking for a waiver to avoid recalling about 206,271 2012-2014 Camry, Avalon, Corolla, Sienna, Tundra and Tacoma vehicles, some of its most popular models. The affected vehicles contain seat heaters that might not meet government flammability standards. Toyota says in the waiver that "the chance of fire or flame induced by a malfunctioning seat heater is essentially zero," according to The Detroit News. The automaker notes the part makes up less than one percent of the seat's weight.
Initial reports of the problem arose in late January when Toyota issued a stop-sale order for 2013 and 2014 model year versions of those vehicles. The automaker says that there have no been reports of fires or injuries in the affected cars, and the problem was discovered during testing by the South Korean government, according to The Detroit News.
We've reached out to Toyota for comment on this development and are awaiting a reply. We'll update this post if and when we hear back.

Watch the Muppets go for ice cream in a Toyota

Tue, 25 Feb 2014

Do Muppets drive? We're not sure it's necessarily a good idea, but it's been known to happen. Fozzy called his hibernating uncle's Studebaker a bear's "natural habitat," and Doctor Teeth wouldn't get the Electric Mayhem very far without his band's psychedelically painted school bus. But how about Rolf in a 2014 Toyota Highlander?
That's what we got a glimpse of in the run-up to the Super Bowl, and the same combination (plus one Rizzo the Rat) that features in this adorably ordinary video below. Ordinary because it's just a couple of guys going out for an ice cream. Adorable because, well... they're Muppets. See what we mean in the surprisingly entertaining two-minute clip below.

Toyota takes self-driving step with patent for eyelid detection device

Mon, Mar 23 2015

With the rise of smartphones and more advanced auto infotainment systems, combatting distracted driving is a growing concern. One day, fully autonomous vehicles could end the problem, but that solution is still at best years away for consumers. Until then, automakers are working to make the tech safer, and one way to do that is monitoring drivers' eyes to make sure they're paying attention. With a recent patent, Toyota thinks it can make the tracking work even better. In Japanese brand's patented solution, a camera constantly monitors the driver's upper and lower eyelids and uses the data to calculate how open the eyes are. The company admits systems like this already exist elsewhere, but they can sometimes return false results by detecting redeye instead of the location of a person's actual eyeball. To fix this, the automaker adds a further step to search for redeye. If it occurs where skin is already assumed to be, then the system can go back to tracking the accurate location of the eye. Toyota doesn't specify how it might use this technology, but more accurate data would always be useful. The company wouldn't be the first automaker to work on implementing eye detection, either. For example, General Motors has a pilot program using it to monitor distraction, and Jaguar Land Rover watches a driver's peepers to create the 3d image for its Virtual Windscreen. Related Video:
