1971 Toyota Land Cruiser Fj55-inline 6 Nice! on 2040-cars
Wilmington, North Carolina, United States

1971 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ55 - Inline 6 Nice - NO RESERVE! All body panels are very nice now and frame is solid! Some surface rust here and there but all the prep work was completed before the painting process. Both front and rear bumpers are in great shape. There is a place to mount a winch to the front bumper but I never could get my hands on a Warn winch or desired choice. Headlights are LED (nice), brake lights, gas/temp/pressure gauges work as they should and the same goes for the aftermarket tach. Wipers work great, variable speed. Sometimes the turn signal blinkers are intermittent. Rear window motor works great and all glass is original and in great shape. The seats might need some stitching around the edges due to normal wear. The roof is in good condition and no leaks. Some recent maintenance work completed: Jan/Feb. 2014-new spark plugs, plug wires, air filter, starter (with warranty), front and rear performance shocks, driver side rear wheel cylinders, steering bar tie rod ends, brake lines/hoses, brake shoes, fuel filters, and fuel lines. I noticed a very small leak coming from the passenger side wheel cylinder just the other day but its isolated. All receipts to follow with the new owner. This Land Cruiser FJ55 is not perfect but certainly a lot of care and love has made this SUV a joy to own. This FJ55 is registered and I have a clean NC title in hand for easy transfer of ownership. Please: NO INTERNATIONAL BIDDING! US FUNDS ONLY ACCEPTED. This 71 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ55 is sold as is, where is in Sunny Wilmington, NC. No warranty expressed or implied. Please asking questions before bidding and feel free to set up a time to view if you are able to. I have the right to end auction early if pre-qualified buyer is located. Thanks for your interest and happy bidding! |

2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback, Volvos earn IIHS Top Safety Pick rating
Tue, Oct 2 2018It's time for another round-up of recent IIHS crash tested cars. The trio this time include the 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback, 2019 Volvo XC90 and 2018 Volvo S90. All three have earned one of the highest ratings from the IIHS, the Top Safety Pick. And all three continue a trend of very safe cars having slightly below-par headlights, preventing them from earning the highest Top Safety Pick+ rating. Of these three cars, the Corolla Hatchback has the most impressive scores. It earned the highest "Good" rating in every single crash test, including the difficult small-overlap passenger-side collision. It also received the top score for access to LATCH anchors for child seats. The standard forward collision prevention technology also brought home the best score possible, stopping the car before a crash at speeds up to 25 mph. The headlights themselves weren't particularly bad either, earning the second-highest score of "Acceptable" with both the standard and optional LED headlights. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. Both Volvos shared similar scores to the Corolla Hatchback, with "Good" ratings for all crash tests they participated in, and top rank for their standard forward collision technology. Both vehicles were not tested for the passenger-side small overlap collision, so there is no score in that area. Both also received the "Acceptable" rating for LATCH anchor access. In the headlight department, the XC90 earned "Acceptable" scores for both of its available headlights, and the S90 received an "Acceptable" for its optional lights, while the standard ones were rated as "Marginal." Toyota GT86 convertible on 'indefinite hold'
Sat, 05 Oct 2013Bad news, sportscar fans. According to a new report from What Car?, Toyota has cancelled plans to produce a GT86 convertible, a model based on the FT-86 Open Concept that debuted at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. In truth, Toyota never actually confirmed it would produce the budget-friendly droptop in the first place, but rumors have been flying since last year and Toyota reportedly showed its embattled Scion dealers a FR-S version of the convertible in August. Presumably, this means that a lidless variant of the Subaru BRZ is not in the cards, either.
The reason for the move is unknown, though What Car? reports "one possible cause is weight; Toyota did say that further work would be required on rigidity before the convertible could be launched, and that could have added extra bulk that conflict with the regular GT86's ethos of light weight and agile handling." It doesn't look like that work will happen anytime soon, as "sources now say that the car has now been delayed indefinitely, with no place in Toyota's product plan in either 2014 or 2015." Still holding out hope? What Car? says the project could be "fast-tracked" if management decides it wants to reboot the program down the road.

Toyota plans biggest stock buyback in over a decade
Tue, 01 Apr 2014At the end of December, 2013 Toyota had a cash stockpile of 1.8 trillion yen ($17.5B US). As of March 31, at the end of its current financial year, company coffers are expected to swallow another 1.9 trillion yen ($18.4B US) in net profit - said to be a record sum for the Japanese automaker. In a gesture signaling a turnaround from the horrors of the global recession, Bloomberg reports that Toyota will buy back 60 million shares of its stock, as much as 1.89 percent of the company, for something like 360 billion yen ($3.5B US). It's the first buyback since 2009 and the largest buyback since 2003, when it spent roughly 390 billion yen ($3.8B US) repurchasing shares.
Company president Akio Toyoda founded the Toyota Mobility Foundation (TMF), a non-profit that will support international groups working on transportation issues in emerging markets. Half of the stock that Toyota buys, 30 million shares, will be sold to the foundation via the Japanese Trustee Services Bank for one yen per share, the dividend providing the foundation's initial funding. The other 30 million shares will be canceled, a company spokesman telling Reuters that the company wants to reward shareholders.
Industry analysts have been asking Toyota to either return money to shareholders or invest in new factories, but Toyota has ruled out the latter. After getting burned with excess capacity when the financial crisis came, the company is focused on extracting efficiencies from the plants it already has. Toyota has said it plans to complete the buyback by June of this year.
