1970 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ-40 Fashion Green/ Grey 7 Year Rotisserie Restoration This matching numbers FJ-40 was rescued from the Nevada desert in amazingly original condition. It was complete and unmolested, right down to the original factory hose clamps. The truck was completely disassembled and underwent a restoration that was completed in September of 2013. The entire powertrain was completely rebuilt reusing the restored original components such as the alternator, carburetor and starter. The engine was bored .040" over and received a new cam, lifters, pistons, timing components, bearings, gaskets and seals. The transmission, transfer case and axles were meticulously rebuilt, receiving new bearings and seals throughout. All of the vehicle's components were reassembled with the original replated bolts and hardware. Genuine Toyota parts were used throughout the restoration and great care was taken to preserve or recreate the factory paint marks and part labels. The same care and attention was given to the underside of the vehicle. The frame, axle housings, all of the chassis and steering components, as well as the bumpers and wheels were powder coated in their original colors. All of the original brake and fuel hard lines were replated and reused. The body retains it all of its original sheet metal and floors. It was completely stripped to bare metal, epoxy primed and finished on a rotisserie using high quality PPG Deltron paint in the rare original Toyota Fashion Green color. All of the rubber components were replaced during reassembly and with the exception of the wing and corner windows, all new tempered glass was installed. Almost all of the original hardware, such as the bolts, nuts, hose clamps, hard lines and brackets were individually hand stripped, re-plated and reused. The original wire harness was restored using new brass terminals and new plastic connectors. The interior upholstery was faithfully reproduced and even the characteristic spot weld "dimples" were carefully preserved on the exterior of the body. We will ship all over the world. Toyota settles complaints with states Attorneys General for $29 million
Thu, 14 Feb 2013Toyota announced today that it has reached a settlement with the Attorneys General of 29 states and one US territory that will resolve their complaints relating to recalls performed by the automaker from 2005-2010, including those related to sticky accelerators and malfunctioning floor mats that may have contributed to cases of unintended acceleration.
The settlement includes a payout of $29 million to be divided among the states and US territory, as well as a commitment from Toyota "to take steps to make vehicle information more easily accessible to consumers to help them operate their vehicles safely and make more informed choices." The settlement also has Toyota continuing its rapid-response service teams and quality field offices that were put in place shortly after the largest of the recalls from 2010, as well as a "range of customer care amenities for owners of vehicles subject to certain recalls," though the press release below isn't specific about what those amenities might be.
This settlement marks the second major step in the last few months that Toyota has taken to settle legal disputes surrounding the unintended acceleration recalls, the first being a $1.4 billion settlement to address economic loss suffered by owners of current and past Toyota vehicles that may have lost value on account of these recalls.
Which car companies are creating new jobs in America?
Fri, Sep 22 2017Since January, automakers have announced investments totaling $9.5 billion in U.S. plants, creating or retaining more than 12,000 jobs. Some of those companies have yet to announce just how many jobs will be created given their investments, with the location of many of those jobs still to be determined. Specifically, the 4,000-job Toyota-Mazda joint venture plant still hasn't announced its location, with numerous states jockeying for it. Hyundai has plans to invest $1 billion but has not announced a jobs number yet. And likewise Ford is investing $1.2 billion in Michigan without specifying a number of jobs. Volvo this week announced plans to add a second line to its factory under construction in South Carolina, spending another $500 million and adding 2,500 jobs to the 2,000 it was already trying to fill. Then Thursday, Daimler announced a $1 billion expansion to its facility in Tuscaloosa, Ala., to produce EV batteries and electric SUVs, a move that will add 600 jobs to its hiring this year. Toyota GT86 14R-60 shows how to do lightweight at a steep price
Sat, 11 Oct 2014Toyota is finally making good on its Griffon concept from last year with this limited-edition 14R-60 that basically hops through the Toyota Racing Development catalog to imagine the ultimate lightweight GT86 (the continental relative to the Scion FR-S/Subaru BR-Z). Unfortunately, it's not coming stateside, and even if this modded Toyobaru were coming here, you might not want to pay the rather steep price.
Like the concept, the 2.0-liter boxer engine still makes the same 197 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque. However, the drivetrain isn't entirely untouched thanks to a new air filter, engine oil cooler, a reinforced clutch, lightweight flywheel, and mechanical limited-slip differential from TRD. The six-speed transmission is also tweaked, with different gearing in first and second and an altered final drive ratio.
To keep things planted the suspension gets a new coilovers, a V-shaped tower brace in the front and another in the rear. Improved deceleration comes thanks to upgraded brakes. There also are even more goodies on the outside, including a complete body kit that includes a carbon-fiber roof and massive rear spoiler. The stock wheels are replaced with 18-inch forged magnesium units, as well.
