1979 Toyota Land Cruiser

This truck is in fairly good condition considering it basically has had no work done to it since I have been the owner. The previous owner added some after market stuff but for the most part, the truck is original. This truck starts and runs extremely well, that is the one thing I love most about it. I used it as a daily driver for a few years and have even taken it on a couple road trips on the highway. There is no significant damage to the truck. No major leaks (one small oil pan leak), no cracks, no burnt oil, no 4WD problems, and no cause for concern while driving at highway speeds (it only has 4 gears, so highway speed is 90-100kmph or 55-62mph).

The one major thing this truck needs is some body work on the rust. There are a few patches along the sides, doors, and fenders. The worst spots are small areas of the driver/passenger floors and the back of the truck near the bumper. The tub also has slight rust damage. The frame itself has no significant rust damage other than some surface stuff, a sanding + undercoating would do wonders. Again, I have tonnes of photos which will give a better idea of the rust which I can link on request.

- Original engine, rebuilt by previous owner (I am unaware of what the rebuild entailed). The miles where most likely rolled back when this was done.
- Clutch was replaced 2 years ago but has only been driven a few times since. The clutch feels very good.
- New thermostat and thermostat housing (old one ceased shut).
- New battery.
- No major work done to the truck other than the clutch replacement.

After market (these things were added by the previous owner and not myself):

- Added to roll bar (easy to remove).
- 3700 Warn winch mounted to front (probably wont be pulling too much but always better to have than not).
- Front bumper and rear bumper altered.
- Stereo system with speakers and CD player, supports auxiliary audio cables.
- 2 auxiliary switches added beside the front vent (probably were going to be used for after market lights at some point).
- Center locking console.
- Tires and suspension.

I would be happy to answer any question or provide any additional photos, so feel free to send a message. Cheers!

Toyota updates 86 in Japan with this weird special edition

Wed, Feb 11 2015

In their constant drive for perfection, Japanese automakers Toyota and Subaru have both announced some minor updates for their jointly produced sports car specifically for their domestic market. Both the Toyota 86 (known in these parts as the Scion FR-S) and the Subaru BRZ are getting a revised version of the electric power steering system they were designed with in the first place as well as a reworked suspension. The more intriguing news, though, is the strange restyling Toyota is offering on the 86 Style Cb edition. Ditching the aggressively angular front end of the existing model, this special edition gets rounded headlamps and an extended nose to give it a much less severe face. The Toyota 86 Style Cb is also being offered with an optional two-tone paint scheme and gets unique LED turning indicator strips, a special badge on the bulbous snout and revised interior trim. We'll chalk it up to a matter of personal taste, but as far as JDM specials go, this special edition isn't one over which we'll be terribly disappointed if it never makes it to US showrooms. We'll be sure to keep you posted if and when any of the mechanical updates make the trip across the Pacific, though. Related Video:

Next-generation Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ confirmed

Fri, Sep 27 2019

Toyota and Subaru jointly announced today that they would be continuing and expanding their alliance. Toyota will be taking a larger stake in Subaru, bringing the total to 20%, and Subaru will respond in kind by buying shares equal to the value of those purchased by Toyota. In terms of product, the two companies will reportedly swap knowledge in the development of all-wheel-drive systems, battery-electric powertrains and connected/autonomous driving technologies. Oh, and there will be a next-generation Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ. Despite less-than-stellar sales, the two companies confirmed that the rear-wheel-drive Toyabaru twins will be returning for a sequel. No details about them were provided, but a second-generation has widely been speculated and reported, with Australia's Motor quoting Supra chief engineer Tatsuya Tada confirming as such. "We have a new 86 team," he told Motor. "We have to make a new 86 that surpasses the Supra ... that is what the customer expects." Beyond that, there is rampant speculation of where the rear-drive platform will originate (a derivative of Toyota's TNGA platform, something boosted from Mazda, aliens), as well as what might find its way under the hood (virtually anything would be better than what's there now). A Japanese publication even suggested it might even be previewed next month at the Tokyo Motor Show.  In any event, expect the next-generation Subaru BRZ and Toyota 86 to be a continuous source of interest for the next few years.  Subaru Toyota Coupe Future Vehicles Performance

BMW Z5 roadster gets frosty in winter testing

Fri, Apr 1 2016

The successor to the BMW Z4 (remember that thing?) is currently undergoing testing in what may be the least hospitable place for a two-seat roadster – northern Sweden. Yep, even sunshine-loving convertibles need to undergo winter testing. We still aren't 100-percent certain of the name, but rumors are pointing to BMW ditching the Z4 nomenclature in favor of Z5. As we've reported before, it's very likely that this car is being developed with help from Toyota. The platform underpinning the car shown here could become the long-awaited new Supra (albeit in hardtop-only form). We'd love to tell you about the look of this new car, but between the camouflage and the caked-on snow, it's hard to draw a bead. We can clearly see the headlights are inspired by newer BMWs like the 7 Series and 2 Series, but other details are harder to discern. The right elements are here, though. The prototype has a long hood and short rear deck. It's also worth pointing out that the car shown here marks a return to a canvas convertible roof. Aside from being less complex, our spies report that the soft top is being used to lower weight and provide sharper handling. While our report on the Z4's successor from March 2015 pointed to a 2020 launch date for the new roadster, our spies say the German part of this BMW/Toyota partnership could launch in late 2017 or early 2018 with four- and six-cylinder engine options.
