4 Sale, one of the cleanest, RUST FREE classic FJ 40's left on this planet. It is also smog exempt in the State of California and many other States due to age. This FJ was professionally RESTORED from the ground up and a Full Body off restoration was done 11,800 proven driven miles ago. FJ is garage kept and serviced top to bottom every 3,000 miles. The bottom side of this FJ looks outstanding and much nicer than most for sure = SEE PHOTOS. Body was (off frame) when body was painted inside and out and under.= SEE PHOTOS. The frame was also detailed and all fresh rebuilt running gear installed in frame. FJ is powered by a 1968 Chevy 327 small block motor fitted with aluminum Intake - headers - elect dist - Pete Jackson Gear Drive = Gear drive not a stock timing chain so you get the hot rod wine and rumble and no timing lag, they hear you coming. If you want it quiet put a stock timing chain back in it. Intake fitted with 4 bbl carb with electric choke. Motor dressed in chrome and stainless lines. Motor bay and motor also detailed nice = SEE PHOTOS. Motor is mated to a newer FJ 40 - 4 speed manual transmission with the use of advance adapter. The 4 wheel drive transfer case is the good, proven Toyota factory FJ40 as well. The Rear end and Front end are both Toyota but fitted with 4.11 gears. Warn locking hubs, New HD axles - HD ring gear & pinion, HD bearings and new seals installed. New drive lines and yokes. 4 Wheels power Disc brakes installed on it and Power steering also installed to make it easy to drive on or off road. New high back adjustable seats installed in front and factory FJ jump seats re-installed in the rear. Fj was built for off road as it should be - but also street legal and fun to drive around town for sure. People love this FJ and it will turn every head driving in it or just parked on the street. This FJ has been used on and off road over the past few years and only has been driven limited part time as a toy! It only has 11,800 driven miles on the restoration and it is kept clean. It's not a national show truck that lives on a trailer. A few minor paint chips and the norm you expect for a vehicle that is driven on and off road. I just had paint shop air brush any paint chips or road rash it had from using it as it should be. With that said this FJ still looks outstanding overall and much nicer that any FJ you see that gets driven. SEE PHOTOS. If FJ was any nicer you would not want to drive it and get it dirty. No big dents like most. No Rust like most of them. No floor pan patch work - No Body armor or diamond plate covering up the rust and rot like most have - dash not cut - See all Photos of Body and Bottom side - Frame - Wheel wells and so on. It speaks for itself - it's nice! Buyers more than welcome to inspect in person . I have nothing to hide, It is what it is, and it's nicer than most for sure. FJ has been up dated with all the good high end parts that FJ owners wish they had. I have listed 25 large photos and have also listed a video to show the FJ in greater detail that most sellers are ever willing to disclose. Like I said I have nothing to hide (it's a nice one) Not a rust bucket and not a project in the works = It's done and turn key ready to enjoy. The top and doors remove for open air summer fun. Fj will also be for sale outside Ebay and this listing will be removed early before the end of auction if FJ is sold out side Ebay. If listing is removed early then it has been sold. Your loss and buyers gain. So bid to own, it will sell fast - Nice RESTORED and RUST FREE FJ's always do. I have owned or restored 20 plus FJ's over the past 30 years and this one ranks at the top of the list. FJ is very Sanitary Inside and Out -Top to bottom. Clear title to buyer when paid in full. All Factory Vin numbers and Vin plates still on FJ as they should be. The original Vin number is also still on frame as it should be. Pick up the phone and call seller direct if you would like to talk more detail about the FJ. Vehicle is garaged in Las Vegas Nevada at this time. Seller will hold vehicle in locked garage until buyer can pick up in person or have it picked up by auto transport . I have covered everything I can think of in this listing and im sure i have missed a few good things also, any questions just call me - Call 702-592-2181 anytime. Enjoy the Photos and Video.

Scion was slain by Toyota, not the Great Recession
Wed, Feb 3 2016Scion didn't have to go down like this. Through the magic of hindsight and hubris, it's easier to see what went wrong. And what might have been. What the industry should understand is this: Scion wasn't a losing proposition from the get-go. Its death is due to negligence and apathy. This is more than just the failure of a sub-brand. It's the failure of a company to deliver new and compelling products over an extended period of time. Toyota will point to the Great Recession as the reason it hedged its bets and withdrew funding for new vehicles, instead of using that as an opportunity to redouble efforts. This was as good as a death warrant, although myopically no one realized it at the time. Sadly, GM's Saturn experiment was a road map for this exact form of failure. No one at Toyota seemed to think the Saturn experience was worth protecting their experimental brand from. Or they weren't heard. Brands live and die on product. Somehow, Scion convinced itself that its real success metric was a youthful demographic of buyers. It seems like this was used to gauge the overall health of the brand. Look at the aging and uncompetitive tC, which Scion proudly noted had a 29-year-old average buyer. That fails to take into account its lack of curb appeal and flagging sales. Who cares if the declining number of people buying your cars are younger? Toyota is going to kill the tC thirteen years [And two indifferent generations ... - Ed.] after it was introduced. In that time, Honda has come out with three entirely new generations of the Civic. Scion wasn't a losing proposition from the get-go. Its death is due to negligence and apathy. At launch, the brand could have gone a few different ways. The xB was plucky, interesting, and useful – a tough mix of ephemeral characteristics – but the xA didn't offer much except a thin veneer of self-consciously applied attitude. That's ok; it was cute. Enter the tC, which managed to combine sporty pretensions with decent cost. It took on the Civic Coupe in the contest for coolness, and usually managed to win. More importantly, an explicit brand value early on was a desire to avoid second generations of any of its models, promising a continually evolving and fresh lineup. At this point, the road splits. Down one lane lies the Scion that could have been. After a short but reasonable product lifecycle, it would have renewed the entire lineup.
Next-gen Toyota 86, Subaru BRZ could arrive by 2021
Wed, Apr 4 2018If these rumors are true, a small but dedicated core of fans could be in for a treat. According to Japan Times — and citing unspecified "sources" — Toyota and Subaru are developing a next-generation 86 and BRZ, with a possible launch around 2021. The new car(s) would reportedly have more power, improved handling and newer safety features. According to the report, the rear-drive sports coupes could do away with the current 2.0-liter engine in favor of one with a larger 2.4-liter displacement. The Japan Times sources say the next-gen 86 will also have a lower center of gravity, which will translate to an improvement on the car's already impressive cornering stability. Theoretically, the 2.4-liter in question could be the new FA24 mill used in the upcoming Subaru Ascent crossover that's turbocharged to produce 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet. That output would be a mammoth jump from the current Toyobaru pair, and it seems doubtful that's what possible second-generation cars would get. Nevertheless, it's at least consistent with recent comments from Toyota engineer Tetsuya Tada that indicated a more powerful, turbocharged 86/BRZ would not be possible unless there was a new, next-generation model. In an interview with Australia's CarAdvice, Tada said, "I do like turbos, however if we come up with a turbo version of the 86 and boost up the power that would result in the necessity of changing the basic configuration completely, to come up with a car that I would be satisfied with." "One characteristic of the 86 is that in terms of the front balance it's slightly front loaded so it makes the handling more fast and agile," he continued. "So if we were to come up with a turbo version, we would have to go change the weight balance between the front and the rear. That means we have to come up with a completely new platform, so it's not about just changing or slight modification in the engine parts." Note that "we have to come up with a completely new platform" does not equal "we are coming up with a completely new platform." He could be talking strictly hypothetically, it could be a wink-wink nudge-nudge implication that his team is already hard at work, or things could've just been a bit fudged in translation. In any event, as hopeful as we are about the possibility of a new generation of Subaru BRZ and Toyota 86, we can't help but maintain a healthy dose of skepticism that the partnership will continue as the Japan Times report suggests.
Lexus planning a hydrogen fuel-cell LS by 2017
Sun, Jan 4 2015Toyota's Fuel Cell System will certainly migrate to other vehicles in the carmaker's lineup, but Australian car site Motoring reports that one of the models at the head of the queue is the Lexus LS. According to its sources, the executive barge powered by hydrogen will be released by 2017 and take the top spot in the range, rolling in above the LS Hybrid. We're told that Toyota engineers will find a way to slide two hydrogen tanks into its bodywork with the same general setup as on the Mirai – one under the rear seats and another under the rear parcel shelf. The 150-kW fuel cell stack will be placed under the front seats. Motoring says the resulting sedan and its 220-kW electric motor would come in "at around 2,100 kg," which is 4,620 pounds; that's a ginormous 539 pounds less than the listed curb weight of the current LS Hybrid, and 387 pounds more than the standard LS. Assuming all goes as planned, it would have a range of roughly 238 miles, a few dozens less than the Mirai's range of about 300 miles. It would look slightly different, too, the front end getting larger intakes to cool the power unit. It wouldn't surprise us if Lexus does have a hydrogen LS planned – it would be a statement car, and the company likes making statements, even if few heed them; it has stuck with its LS 600h for the past seven years, yet of the 7,539 LS models sold through the end of November this year, only 61 of them were hybrids. The timing would be intriguing, however; by the time the LS hybrid came out, Lexus had already worked over its filet-and-potatoes models. And if the hydrogen version is going to come in above the $120,440 hybrid, well, that will be a statement indeed.
