4 Sale, one of the cleanest, RUST FREE classic FJ 40's left on this planet. It is also smog exempt in the State of California and many other States due to age. This FJ was professionally RESTORED from the ground up and a Full Body off restoration was done 11,800 proven driven miles ago. FJ is garage kept and serviced top to bottom every 3,000 miles. The bottom side of this FJ looks outstanding and much nicer than most for sure = SEE PHOTOS.  Body was (off frame) when body was painted inside and out and under.= SEE PHOTOS. The frame was also detailed and all fresh rebuilt running gear installed in frame. FJ is powered by a 1968 Chevy 327 small block motor fitted with aluminum Intake - headers - elect dist - Pete Jackson Gear Drive = Gear drive not a stock timing chain so you get the hot rod wine and rumble and no timing lag, they hear you coming.  If you want it quiet put a stock timing chain back in it. Intake fitted with 4 bbl carb with electric choke. Motor dressed in chrome and stainless lines.  Motor bay and motor also detailed nice = SEE PHOTOS. Motor is mated to a newer FJ 40 - 4 speed manual transmission with the use of advance adapter. The 4 wheel drive transfer case is the good, proven Toyota factory FJ40 as well. The Rear end and Front end are both Toyota but fitted with 4.11 gears. Warn locking hubs, New HD axles - HD ring gear & pinion, HD bearings and new seals installed. New drive lines and yokes.  4 Wheels power Disc brakes installed on it and Power steering also installed to make it easy to drive on or off road. All brake lines done in stainless steel and the Tire size is 36 inch tall Super Swamper tires 12.5 wide that's over 4 feet of rubber on the ground at a cost of $340 per tire. If your going to just drive on the street full time (sell the off road super swampers) and install a set of  A/T highway tire.  A 3 inch Old Man Emu suspension lift also installed for better ground clearance and body stance. This FJ will climb a tree if needed and is fitted with a 8,000 lb Warn winch to pull your friends out that drive Jeeps and Broncos. Fj has two gas tanks so if you run out switch to the other tank and keep going. Body was installed back on frame with new body bushings and tub felts. New door rubbers installed - New window felts installed. The top and grill both finished in black to better accent the black wheels. New high back adjustable seats installed in front and factory FJ jump seats re-installed in the rear. Fj was built for off road as it should be - but also street legal and fun to drive around town for sure. People love this FJ and it will turn every head driving in it or just parked on the street. This FJ has been used on and off road over the past few years and only has been driven limited part time as a toy! It only has 11,800 driven miles on the restoration and it is kept clean. It's not a national show truck that lives on a trailer. A few minor paint chips and the norm you expect for a vehicle that is driven on and off  road. I just had paint shop air brush any paint chips or road rash it had from using it as it should be. With that said this FJ still looks outstanding overall and much nicer that any FJ you see that gets driven. SEE PHOTOS. If FJ was any nicer you would not want to drive it and get it dirty.  No big dents like most. No Rust like most of them. No floor pan patch work - No Body armor or diamond plate covering up the rust and rot like most have - dash not cut - See all Photos of Body and Bottom side - Frame - Wheel wells and so on. It speaks for itself - it's nice! Buyers more than welcome to inspect in person . I have nothing to hide,  It is what it is, and it's nicer than most for sure.  FJ has been up dated with all the good high end parts that FJ owners wish they had. I have listed 25 large photos and have also listed a video to show the FJ in greater detail that most sellers are ever willing to disclose.  Like I said I have nothing to hide (it's a nice one)  Not a rust bucket and not a project in the works = It's done and turn key ready to enjoy. The top and doors remove for open air summer fun. Fj will also be for sale outside Ebay and this listing will be removed early before the end of auction if FJ is sold out side Ebay. If listing is removed early then it has been sold. Your loss and buyers gain. So bid to own, it will sell fast - Nice RESTORED and RUST FREE FJ's always do. I have owned or restored 20 plus FJ's over the past 30 years and this one ranks at the top of the list. FJ is very Sanitary Inside and Out -Top to bottom.  Clear title to buyer when paid in full. All Factory Vin numbers and Vin plates still on FJ as they should be. The original Vin number is also still on frame as it should be. Pick up the phone and call seller direct if you would like to talk more detail about the FJ. Vehicle is garaged in Las Vegas Nevada at this time. Seller will hold vehicle in locked garage until buyer can pick up in person or have it picked up by auto transport . I have covered everything I can think of in this listing and im sure i have missed a few good things also, any questions just call me - Call 702-592-2181 anytime.  Enjoy the Photos and Video.

Toyota GT86, Scion FR-S sales disappointing worldwide?

Fri, 21 Feb 2014

Okay, folks - it appears we've got a problem. The Toyota GT86, Europe's counterpart to our own beloved Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S coupes, is apparently not selling too well. This, according to Toyota's European Vice President of Research and Development, Gerald Killman, is what's limiting plans for additional variants of the rear-drive coupe.
"A faster version of that car would be at the top of most people's wish lists, but like the cabriolet, it is hard to justify a business case to push either model into production based on the current sales," Killman told AutoExpress. "Personally, I think that engine could use a little bit more," he added.
More troubling is that slow sales aren't limited to the Euro-spec car, with Killman claiming that the GT86 have been missing sales targets in major markets around the globe. It may not be that the US is one of those major markets, though. Scion's Vice President, Doug Murtha, tells Autoblog that his brand is happy with the sales of its version of the GT86, the FR-S. 18,000 units were sold last year, which Murtha says is "generally in line with original expectations for the car."

The ugly economics of green vehicles

Sat, Sep 20 2014

It's fair to say that most consumers would prefer a green vehicle, one that has a lower impact on the environment and goes easy on costly fuel (in all senses of the term). The problem is that most people can't – or won't – pay the price premium or put up with the compromises today's green cars demand. We're not all "cashed-up greenies." In 2013, the average selling price of a new vehicle was $32,086. The truth is that most Americans can't afford a new car, green or not. In 2013, the average selling price of a new vehicle was $32,086. According to a recent Federal Reserve study, the median income for American families was $46,700 in 2013, a five-percent decline from $49,000 in 2010. While $32,000 for a car may not sound like a lot to some, it's about $630 a month financing for 48 months, assuming the buyer can come up with a $6,400 down payment. And that doesn't include gas, insurance, taxes, maintenance and all the rest. It's no wonder that a recent study showed that the average family could afford a new car in only one of 25 major US cities. AutoTrader conducted a recent survey of 1,900 millennials (those born between 1980 and 2000) about their new and used car buying habits. Isabelle Helms, AutoTrader's vice president of research, said millennials are "big on small" vehicles, which tend to be more affordable. Millennials also yearn for alternative-powered vehicles, but "they generally can't afford them." When it comes to the actual behavior of consumers, the operative word is "affordable," not "green." In 2012, US new car sales rose to 14.5 million. But according to Manheim Research, at 40.5 million units, used car sales were almost three times as great. While the days of the smoke-belching beater are mostly gone, it's a safe bet that the used cars are far less green in terms of gas mileage, emissions, new technology, etc., than new ones. Who Pays the Freight? Green cars, particularly alternative-fuel green cars, cost more than their conventional gas-powered siblings. A previous article discussed how escalating costs and limited utility drove me away from leasing a hydrogen fuel cell-powered Hyundai Tucson, which at $50,000, was nearly twice the cost of the equivalent gas-powered version. In Hyundai's defense, it's fair to ask who should pay the costs of developing and implementing new technology vehicles and the infrastructure to support them.
