2008 FJ Cruiser. One owner, garage kept, 14,9XX ORIGINAL miles!
I wanted one of these things ever since the first day I heard they were being made---then on one snowy January day in 2009, my dream came true. It was (and is) everything I had hoped for. It has rugged, get-out-of-my-way looks, a peppy engine (considering the vehicle weight) and an aggressive exhaust note. It has all the earmarks of a post-apocalyptic urban assault vehicle, but with a comfortable and reassuring ride and the peace of mind that comes from owning a Toyota. Reliable doesn't even start to describe it. I have compounded the aggressive utility of this modern day road beast by adding a genuine ARB Bull Bumper---engineered in Australia to withstand plowing into full-grown kangaroos at highway speed. I have also added a BRAND NEW set of N-Fab nerf bar steps, Hella driving lights on the bumper, and Hella 500 Offroaders on the TRD roof rack air dam (The roof lights are not hooked up--just installed). It's also go some very high end Bilstien shocks. Now it looks like a cross between an armored car, and something from a Stephen King novel. The front bezel has had the blackout treatment as well. Don't be scared though, she purrs like a kitten and handles like a dream. My problem is, my family is outgrowing it. I have two kids and one on the way and we are starting to look at (God help me) minivans. Excuse me for a second…I think I have something in my eye. Sniff. Needless to say, this vehicle has spent every night of its life safely inside my garage. I am the first and only owner and I have managed to put less than 15,000 miles on it since I bought it (almost 5 years ago). The truck has NEVER been off road and it has NEVER been smoked in --or around. It has been babied far much more than of vehicle of its legendary off road prowess should be. But that's me. If you aspire to crawl rocks at Moab, or pull your buddies' Jeeps and Hummers out of the mud while laughing heartily, THIS is the vehicle for you. It's loaded. Plus it has the TRD Offroad package which includes 16" Aluminum rims, offroad tires (5) and Bilstien shocks. I had the front two shocks changed to Bilstein adjustables to level up the front under the weight of the ARB Bumper. Now she sits just perfect! It's also got: passenger arm rest spare tire cover ipod connection factory roof rack 3-piece removable cargo shelf back up alarm Monster Rubber all-season mats TRD Factory Carpet Mats Carpet cargo cover Cargo net Original Brochure Water/weather proof interior If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me. I am asking $25,500OBO Thanks for looking! |

Kayaba, Sumitomo to pay millions for price-fixing in US
Sat, Sep 19 2015Kayaba Industry Co, which does business in the US as suspension parts maker KYB, and Sumitomo Electric Industries are facing payments in the millions to settle price-fixing cases about the components that they make. As part of the Department of Justice's ongoing crackdown of price fixing in the auto industry, KYB agreed to pay $62 million and pleaded guilty to conspiracy to set the cost of shock absorbers from the mid '90s through 2012. The company allegedly worked with co-conspirators to keep the cost of the parts high, and those components then made it into vehicles from Honda, Kawasaki, Nissan, Subaru, Suzuki, and Toyota. "Any collusive agreement among competitors to restrict price competition undercuts our free enterprise system and violates the law," said Carter M. Stewart, US Attorney of the Southern District of Ohio, in the DoJ's announcement. Over the past few years, the DoJ has brought cases against 37 parts suppliers and 55 executives, leading to over $2.6 billion in fines. The investigations haven't always been so successful – some of the Japanese execs fled from the US to avoid prosecution. Critics allege that price fixing is simply how business is done. According to Automotive News, Sumitomo Electric Industries is also facing a $50 million settlement in a civil lawsuit that's related to price fixing of parts like wiring harnesses and heater control panels. The plaintiffs include owners and dealers that purchased vehicles with these parts. The company asserts that the violations are from before 2010, and it now has different process in place to avoid further violations. KYB Agrees to Plead Guilty and Pay $62 Million Criminal Fine for Fixing Price of Shock Absorbers Kayaba Industry Co. Ltd., dba KYB Corporation (KYB) has agreed to plead guilty and to pay a $62 million criminal fine for its role in a conspiracy to fix the price of shock absorbers installed in cars and motorcycles sold to U.S. consumers. According to charges filed today, KYB conspired from the mid-1990s until 2012 to fix the prices of shock absorbers sold to Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (manufacturer of Subaru vehicles), Honda Motor Co. Ltd., Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd., Nissan Motor Company Ltd., Suzuki Motor Corporation and Toyota Motor Company, including their subsidiaries in the United States.
What to do if the infotainment in your Lexus isn't working
Wed, Jun 8 2016According to Toyota, "errant data from our traffic and weather data service provider" caused the infotainment systems in 2014-2016 Lexus vehicles and the 2016 Toyota Land Cruiser to go into some sort of endless reboot loop. The video above shows what that looks like, in case you're interested. Obviously, it's not good – the malfunction means the audio systems, navigation and climate control systems aren't working properly, and that the hands-free mobile phone function won't work. Apparently, some owners were able to manually fix their cars by disconnecting the battery cables for 10 minutes, which forces the car's computer systems to restart. But Toyota isn't officially suggesting that people take that action. Instead, "Toyota and Lexus owners experiencing these issues should visit their dealer for a complimentary system reset and a confirmation of the system," the automaker said in a statement. It's worth noting that issues with the usability of modern infotainment systems have caused customer satisfaction scores to drop. Lexus, though, has been mostly immune to such complaints, having come in first place in J.D. Power's most recent Vehicle Dependability study. Not that you should automatically trust those findings, anyway... Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. Mystery shoppers love Infiniti, hate Tesla
Tue, Jul 12 2016Infiniti, followed by Lexus tied with Mercedes-Benz took the top two spots for best sales experience according to mystery shoppers from the latest Pied Piper Prospect Satisfaction Index, while EV manufacturer Tesla recorded the lowest overall score. Not surprisingly, premium brands dominated the top ranks. Including the three already mentioned, luxury brands occupied seven of the top ten spots and included Audi, BMW, Porsche, and the only American brand to crack the upper echelon, Cadillac. Toyota, Volkswagen, and Nissan rounded out the first ten positions. The news for domestic automakers isn't good. Aside from Caddy, the only other star-spangled automaker to score above the industry average is Chrysler. The rest of FCA, most of GM, and all of Ford fell below the line. But Pied Piper's mystery shoppers handed Tesla the biggest walloping – the company is ten full points below the next lowest brand, Volvo, and its score of 86 is 17 below the average of 103. It's baffling, considering the company's touted direct-sales model. "Tesla leaves me scratching my head," Fred O'Hagan, Pied Piper's president and CEO, told Wards Auto. "They own all of their stores, so you would think each one would be doing the same thing. But they're not. Tesla is consistent in its inconsistencies." O'Hagan added that there's a "huge variation" in Tesla's store-to-store effectiveness, and that in some cases, shoppers found showroom workers that acted more like "museum curators," Wards Auto reports. It might be popular to call Tesla the Apple of the car world, but based on Pied Piper's work, the brand has a long way to go to emulate the uniform shopping experience of an Apple Store. The news might be bad for Tesla, but even for the brands that scored below average, there's cause for celebration. Only Tesla and Mini lost points in this year's rankings, and only Mercedes and Lincoln held steady. Every other brand, including Infiniti, which topped the index for the first time, gained at least one point. The biggest improvements belong to Porsche, Land Rover, and Mitsubishi, which all jumped five points. Pied Piper's annual Prospect Satisfaction Index uses mystery shoppers – over 6,100 this year – from across the country to assess dealers and generate rankings from over 50 individual factors.
