Like sand through the hour-glass, so go the days of our lives, and this car has been a big part of our lives. This is a 1998 Toyota Corolla LE. The car has 235,588 miles. We acquired the car in 2003 when it had 65,925 miles. Since we have owned the car we have replace all four struts, rebuilt the brakes (front and rear), purchased one new battery and replace the power-steering pressure hose. Oil has been routinely change every 5,000 miles. The car drives straight, stops straight, and the air conditioner is nice and cold. Cruise control works, as does the AM/FM Cassette Stereo.
As disclosed above, the check engine light is on due to the depleted catalyst in the catalytic converter. I have enquired of a local mechanic and the cost of parts and labor to correct this issue is approximately $350.00. This statement is not to be construed as a warranty or guarantee, it is simply a disclosure of the one deficiency that I know of with respect to the mechanical soundness of the car.
Regarding the body, the clear coating is peeling off of the hood. There is a crack in the nose which is shown in the pictures. The wheels could benefit from a good scrubbing and likewise the carpeting could use a thorough shampooing. That said, the seats are all in-tact with no rips, holes or tears. This has been a non-smoking car. All feature of the sun-roof are fully functional. The vinyl material covering the door pillar on the passenger side is deteriorating. We purchased this car for our daughter prior to her 16th birthday. I presented the keys to her with the following admonishment; "If you take care of this car, change the oil like I instructed and pay attention to the details, it will last you through high school, college, graduate school and your first two years of gainful employment. By that time you should have saved a decent down payment for a new car." I am happy to disclose that she did just that and the car served her as described. I consider this car very reliable. I drive 45 miles one way to work everyday. If my primary driver had two flat tires in the garage tomorrow, I would have no qualms about grabbing the keys and driving the Toyota until my primary car was repaired. You are responsible for transporting the car to your abode. I am willing to work with you on scheduling. Regarding payment, Cash is King. Cashier's Check or Fed-wire are acceptable alternatives. If your opt to pay by Fed-wire you will be responsible for all transfer fees. If you choose to remit by cashiers check, I will retain the title until your funds are fully collected. But bring your cash and you can drive it home.

Toyota NA CEO says his excitement for hydrogen sedan is rising
Fri, Apr 4 2014Toyota has an undeniable vested interest in seeing its hydrogen sedan succeed when it goes on sale in the US next year, so it's no surprise that the company's North American CEO, Jim Lentz, says that he's got more hope for the car now than ever before. And if we remember ways that others in the company, like Bob Carter, have loudly sung hydrogen's praises, we have to assume that positivity is running awful high in Torrance. In fact, Lentz said that the US side of the company is far more excited by the H2 car than colleagues in Japan. Speaking at The Wall Street Journal's ECO:nomics conference in Santa Barbara, CA this week, Lentz said: After we've seen the product, understand its range, its driving dynamics, its refueling, we're a lot more bullish than Japan - probably about fivefold more bullish. It's just a question of how many can be produced now. Well, we've driven this car, and we still feel that Toyota is placing a big bet on the technology. One important issue is cost, but Lentz would not say exactly how much the car costs to make or what it will be priced at. He did say, though, that the production cost has dropped by 95 percent from the $1 million price tag the car wore ten years ago. That hints at a production cost of around $50,000. Lentz also said he thinks it will take at least a decade for hydrogen vehicles to hit sales of 500,000 per year in the US. Speaking to Bloomberg, he said: Their acceptance could get off to a quicker start than the hybrids did. I think you're going to see a lot more marketing of the concept of fuel cell much sooner than you did for hybrids, because basically the whole industry is behind it.
Toyota Sienna Swagger Wagon rides again with Busta Rhymes
Mon, 04 Aug 2014Let's face it: there are few things less "gangsta" than a minivan (which goes a long way towards explaining why crossovers have been gradually taking their place as the family-hauler of choice across America, but we digress). The point here is not lost on Toyota, which has embraced the uncool image of the minivan with the Swagger Wagon campaign.
We first saw the suburban-goes-urban campaign pop up with the introduction of the new Sienna back in 2010. And now that the Sienna's been updated for 2015, the campaign is back again, featuring none other than Trevor Tahiem Smith, Jr. himself... better known to most as Busta Rhymes. The decidedly white-bread video spot that follows may make you cringe, but you've got to admit that it's well done, even if it doesn't have the charm and freshness of the original.
Toyota investing $1 billion in Mexico plant
Thu, Apr 16 2015Toyota has announced plans to build a new factory in Mexico. The site, to be located in the state of Guanajuato, is set to open in 2019 following an investment of about $1 billion. The plant will be the first to make use of the Toyota New Global Architecture, and will (at least initially) focus on production of the Corolla. The compact sedan will continue being built in the United States at the Blue Springs, MS, site, consolidating Corolla production in the south. However Toyota's site in Ontario, Canada, will shift to "mid-sized vehicles of higher value," alongside the plants in Kentucky and Indiana, the automaker said. The Guanajuato site will be Toyota's second Mexican plant, joining the Tijuana plant that assembles the Tacoma – soon to ramp up to 89,000 units per year. Once the new Guanajuato plant comes on full steam, it is slated to produce around 200,000 units per year. It'll be the first site Toyota will open worldwide since it began focusing on utilizing the production capacity it already has. With 90 percent of its production capacity now in use, the Japanese auto giant is also planning to broaden its joint venture with Guangzhou in China as well. Toyota Invests in Competitive Plants - Emphasis on Sustainable Growth Strategy - New plant in Mexico and expansion of its GTMC joint venture in China Toyota City, Japan, April 15, 2015 - Toyota announced today that it will build a new plant in Mexico and expand its joint venture, Guangzhou Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. (GTMC), in China. These investments are grounded on its plans to construct production lines that are more competitive, with greatly reduced initial investment, improved efficiency, flexibility, environmental performance and safety. These "simple and slim" production lines can be easily lengthened or shortened depending on demand. Over-head conveyance devices are eliminated, compact equipment is installed on top of the plant floors, and paint-booths are smaller. The new plant in Mexico and the expansion in China will be designed to accelerate innovation by implementing these new technologies into real production lines. With today's announcement, Akio Toyoda, President of Toyota Motor Corporation said "This investment represents our long-held principles of continuous improvement and challenging ourselves to always do better. An increase in production does not mean an undisciplined pursuit of more. Toyota's expansion must be driven by providing ever-better-cars and our talented people.
