2008 Toyota Tacoma Regular Cab. 2wd. 72k Miles. Well Maintained. on 2040-cars
Spokane, Washington, United States
|
I've owned this pickup since it was 5 months old and had 8K miles on it. I am an adult and I do/did not "drive it like I stole it".
Miles are going up, as it's my daily driver. I drive a convertible when it's nice out, so if the weather holds out, I'll likely be driving that. The oil changes (with receipts) have always been done at 4K mile intervals and with a synthetic blend. I take really good care of it and it has taken really good care of me. I'm just looking for something less "trucky" and more "mid-life crisisy". The truck has a DJM 3/4 lowering kit on it. I was told that it had no ground clearance problems, and in the 6 years I've owned it, I've found that to be true. As a matter of fact, it still has more ground clearance than my wife's Subaru Legacy. It's NEVER been an issue and looks 100% better than a stock truck. I get compliments on it, constantly. It has (tasteful) 20" wheels on it and comes with snow tires on 16" rims. Snow tires are a little worn, but might have another year on them. It has a class III hitch I put on it and flat-towed a VW Beetle from Lake Havasu to Spokane a few years back. It does not regularly tow or haul anything. I've included a picture of the engine for the hell of it. It's in there and has wires and hoses hooked to it, which is nice. I've never touched it other than oil changes. C/D and A/C were all I needed when I bought it and all I need now. Both work perfectly. It has a tilting steering column. It has a few small (SMALL) rock chips on the leading edge of the hood and one scratch by the gas door. I tried selling it locally a while ago, but was probably asking too much. I had a gentleman look at it and I went through all of the chips and things that I know of. He said I was "insane" and that the truck was the nicest he's looked at and would feel bad using it to work out of. |

Subaru to stop building Camry for Toyota in the US
Fri, 09 May 2014It was back in 2007 that Subaru of Indiana Automotive, under contract from Subaru minority shareholder Toyota, built the first Toyota Camry at its plant in Lafayette, Indiana. Rumblings of the end of that contract work have been around for a while, as Subaru talked of expanding capacity to build more units and add a line for the Impreza, and Toyota talked of moving Camry production to its Georgetown, KY plant. The news was official internally last November when SIA Executive Vice President Tom Easterday told the Louisville Courier-Journal that Camry production would end. Now, Automotive News reports that both automakers have admitted publicly that the end will come in 2016.
SIA currently has a 170,000-unit capacity devoted to the home-brand Legacy and Outback models, while a $400-million expansion increases that to 300,000 units to prepare the facility for Impreza production in two years. Freeing up the 100,000 units of production devoted to the Camry means a 400,000-unit capability, which is far more than Subaru needs at the moment, but the Toyota exit will allow it to expand any way it sees fit. Subaru has said it will absorb the workers on the Camry line and no jobs will be lost, the mayor of Lafayette saying the development could change the timetable for the expansion.
Santa swaps his sleigh for a Ferrari-powered Toyota
Fri, Dec 23 2016A Ferrari-powered Toyota 86 is sure to garner a bit of attention, as well it should. We've been paying attention throughout this build, so it should be no surprise then that Santa did as well. He's ditched his red sleigh for the Gumout GT4586 in this video. If you've been following along, you know that Ryan Tuerck and Gumout built this completely bonkers machine that's far more exciting than some previous Japanese/Italian mash-up automobiles. Donut Media has been doing their part to document and promote every stage of the process. This new video is filled with the gratuitous amounts of lights, noise, and tire smoke that Donut is known for. We don't know the conversion from horsepower to reindeerpower, but the GT4586 should provide plenty of oomph for Santa's Christmas trek.
