Up for sale is a very clean, loaded, and very nice looking 2001 Toyota Tacoma Xtracab 4x4.  It has both clean Carfax and Autocheck Vehicle History Reports.  It was just traded into a Toyota dealership on a new Tacoma, and we were able to purchase this right from them.  The truck spent the first few years of it's life in California.  This was a non-smoker truck and it runs and drives 100%!
I have offered and sold 65+ 1995-2004 Tacomas on eBay in the past year.

The exterior is in excellent condition.  The original "Imperial Jade Green Mica" paint shines beautifully.  The entire truck is very nice with only two minor flaws to mention.  The hood has a couple very small chips/imperfections.  The body is completely rust free, including the bottoms of the doors.  There might be a couple small marks here or there, mostly on the tailgate, but that's really about it.  The truck presents very well.  It has the original frame which has been fully inspected and undercoated by Toyota.  The undercarriage is in very nice shape, and as you can see in the pictures the rear end is very clean and dry.  There are absolutely no leaks underneath whatsoever.

The interior is very nice and clean.  The carpets, seats, dashboard, glass, and headliner are all in great shape.  There aren't any smoke smells, burns, or marks inside.  There is also an unused cigarette lighter. All of the electronics are functioning properly.

This Toyota Tacoma has many nice features and options!

- 3.4L V6 Engine

- 5-Speed Manual Transmission

- Push-Button 4-Wheel-Drive

- Ice Cold Air Conditioning

- Power Windows, Locks, Mirrors

- Cruise Control

- Tilt Steering

- Dual Airbags

- Rhino-Liner Bedliner

- Sliding Rear Window

- Tinted Windows

- CD Player w/Cassette

- ABS Brakes

This Tacoma runs and drives perfect as you would expect.  Everything works as it should.  The 3.4L 6-Cylinder engine starts instantly and runs great.  The transmission shifts nice and smooth, the clutch grabs strong, and the 4-Wheel-Drive works exactly as it should.  The truck goes straight down the road with no shakes, rattles, or pulls.  There are no exhaust leaks.  At 110,000 miles the truck received new rear brakes, a new battery, and a new Catalytic Converter!  The timing belt and water pump were replaced early at 59,000 miles!  The truck has been fully checked over in our service shop.  We have just installed 4 New Cooper Discoverer AT3 tires!  The total of all this work is well in excess of $2,900!

I have 2 Keys, the owners manual, 4-Piece factory floormat set, clean CarFax report, the full size spare tire, jack, tools, and a clean/clear title.

When a Ferrari and a Toyota GT86 get jiggy, strange things happen

Fri, Jul 8 2016

Swapping V8s into small Japanese cars is not new. In fact, swapping V8s into small sportscars from anywhere is not new. From the original Cobra to the modern FR-S and BRZ, big V8 power in a light, lithe chassis has been delicious combination rivaling the Reese's peanut butter cup. People familiar with these swaps know that American iron is the preferred source for large-displacement grunt, but Ryan Tuerck and Gumout have taken a different route, specifically from Italy. Replacing the 2.0-liter flat-4 of this Toyota GT86 is a Ferrari F136 V8. Unfortunately that's about the only detail we really know about this project. The F136 was used in the F430, California and 458 Italia, and all with varying displacement and output. So we don't even know which of those variants this engine is. If it came from a California, that'd at least make the front-engine location easier to fabricate. No matter though, it's still a Ferrari engine in a small car, and that's awesome. And Donut Media, the company that produced the video, promises more details down the road. In the meantime, enjoy this video preview of the project. West Coast labor dispute hampers Japanese automakers' US plants

Wed, Feb 18 2015

The ongoing labor dispute between the International Longshore and Warehouse Union and port owners along the West Coast is starting to affect more Japanese automakers building vehicles in the US. The issue already forced Honda and Subaru to take the expensive option of airlifting some parts into the US weeks ago, and according to USA Today, Toyota and Nissan have begun doing so, as well. The choice hasn't been cheap, though, and Subaru's chief financial officer estimated that the decision cost around $60 million more per month than sending components by cargo ship. The effects continue to radiate, according to USA Today, and shortages of some models are possible. Honda is slowing production at its factories in Ohio, Indiana and Canada because the automaker doesn't have enough transmissions and electronics for some vehicles. Toyota already cut back on overtime at some factories. Nissan has only seen a small effect from the issue, though, because of its local suppliers. Dock workers and port owners have been negotiating on a new contract since last year, and the union has organized work slowdowns in response. According to USA Today, the automakers could move shipments to Canada or Mexico, but it would take longer for parts to arrive. 2020 Toyota Highlander vs other 3-row crossovers: There can only be one!

Fri, Dec 20 2019

We've done quite a few spec comparison posts involving three-row family crossovers, and when included, the Toyota Highlander has always been the runt of the group. While the rest increasingly seemed to be benchmarking each other toward greater girth, the Highlander was the outlier.  That changes a bit for the 2020 Toyota Highlander, but only a bit. It's now larger and more competitive, specifically in regards to the amount of cargo space aft of the third-row seat. As you can see below, this aligns the Highlander most closely to its long-time competitor the 2020 Honda Pilot. However, let's see how it stacks up to others in the segment, which is heavily populated now, so for the sake of space, we've selected the newest entries: Kia Telluride, Hyundai Palisade, Subaru Ascent and Ford Explorer. The order in which they are presented is random.  Performance and fuel economy The 2020 Highlander is more than 200 pounds lighter than its predecessor, but has the same 295-horsepower V6 engine that was already one of the strongest in the segment. We'd say that would give it a leg up, but the Pilot and Explorer have proven to be sprinters, delivering 0-60 times in the low-6 range by some publications' stopwatches (or VBoxes, whatever). We don't expect the Highlander to beat them, but it may dip into the 6's. The heavy, less-powerful Subaru Ascent is most likely to take up the rear. It's fuel economy of 23 mpg combined also matches the Highlander and Explorer for segment-best. Remember, however, that the Explorer's turbocharged inline-four engine is likely more susceptible to differences in driving style (read: a heavy foot).  Of course, if you're really interested in fuel economy, the Highlander and Explorer are the only vehicles in the segment to offer hybrid versions. The Ford Explorer Hybrid puts a greater emphasis on performance, however, resulting in lower estimates of 25 mpg combined (AWD) and 28 mpg combined (FWD). By contrast, the new 2020 Toyota Highlander Hybrid is estimated to return 36 mpg combined.  Passenger and cargo space According to Highlander chief engineer Yoshikazu Saeki, he had a choice of two directions with the new Highlander. He could have indeed made it bigger, matching these very competitors, especially in terms of third-row and cargo space. Or, he could have maintained a smaller-than-average size. He obviously chose the latter. First, it was the size customers had come to expect. Would they be put off by something bigger?
