2001 Lifted Toyota Tacoma (one Of A Kind) ***its Got To Get Out The Shop*** on 2040-cars
Sanford, North Carolina, United States
***THIS TRUCK HAS GOT TO GO! IT'S READY FOR SUMMER AND IT'S A SHAME TO SPEND ANOTHER YEAR IN MY SHOP!! ***ALL SNOW PICS WERE TAKEN BEFORE POWDERCOATING AND CHROMING....THIS TRUCK HAS BEEN SHOP KEPT ALL IT'S MODIFIED YEARS*** LEGALLY DRIVEN IN NORTH CAROLINA!!!! Check with your local DMV for registration requirements...we only had to add headlights under bumper. I have driven this truck to my work which is an hour away with major highways as well as high traffic..... The truck was completed by Jason at KatKustoms in NewKnoxville
Body mods include a custom cowl hood, bushwhacker cutout fender flares, shaved tailgate handle, snugtop carpeted bedcover, custom 26 gallon fuel cell recessed in the bed and AFE bed cover. Both the tailgate and cover are connected to linear actuators and operated with a remote. Front grill and bumper also have been updated to include billet inserts. There are two small dents, one under the door from my knee. This happened before I learned how to get in it. LOL The other is a small crease in the top of the tailgate were I backed into the tool box.
The interior includes miscellaneous billet pieces for the vents, power window switch covers and several other pieces. I have an A pillar gauge pod but have not installed any gauges in it yet. The head unit is a Pioneer unit with a motorized 7” TV. Otherwise the interior is all stock.
The truck drives and handles great on the road. It is not a caddy but it is easy to drive once you get used to it. It has won awards in every show entered including best of show, best engineering etc. The truck was also filmed with ESPN 2. Winning bidder is responsible for arranging delivery or I can possibly deliver for fuel cost. Very motivated seller!! Contact me if you have any questions. If you have any knowledge in builds you know I have much more money invested in this build however, my kids are now into horses and this doesn't quite pull our horse trailer. I can email videos and give you the direct contact info for the fella that help do the modifications. |

New BBC Top Gear season is off to a great start
Mon, Mar 6 2017The past few years have been very demanding for Top Gear fans. The Jeremy Clarkson Top Gear got too big for itself, and the core quality of the series degraded as stunts and jokes gradually became more and more stale. Things came to a head with the Fracasgate, with Clarkson punching a producer in a very nice hotel in Yorkshire with a very nice brass plaque commemorating "The End of Clarkson's BBC Career". Fast forward to a year ago, when the BBC produced a new series of Top Gear, with famed breakfast show person and shouting enthusiast Chris Evans hosting. Laden with personnel and curiously lacking any direction, the first new season collapsed onto itself with Evans eventually quitting the entire shindig. After that, viewers received a new, Amazon-produced Clarkson-Hammond-May series called The Grand Tour, which was often brilliant and just as often hampered by writing as hackneyed as the last Clarkson years of Top Gear. Now the slate is clean. Evans is gone. The first Grand Tour season has aired. The BBC has had a good long time to re-evaluate its strategy. And the first episode of this season's Top Gear has aired in the UK - and will air March 12 on BBC America. Your first extended look at all new #TopGear, coming 5 March. See you there pic.twitter.com/lYoYOtrWxR — Top Gear (@BBC_TopGear) February 23, 2017 What an improvement! It seems like the producers have taken an ax to everything not strictly necessary for making a great car show, and they've left what is absolutely crucial. There are the three car guys, Matt LeBlanc, Chris Harris and Rory Reid. There is a new studio. There is a new track car. There is a celebrity, but it's not painful to watch. There are easy jokes, there are car jokes, there are Ronin jokes. Ronin jokes! It's as if Harris, by dissecting continuity errors in the 1998 film's BMW chase, is reaching out to us fans, saying he's one of us, and he did notice the wrong wheels when the black BMW falls from the bridge. (Other mistakes are wrong-colored tach needles, for instance.) The first car film is a quality Ferrari FXX K piece, with Harris enjoying one of the 40 built track-day specials on the bankings of Daytona. It's remarkable it was Harris who was allowed to drive the exclusive Ferrari, as the first "outsider" (in his words) to drive one; years ago Harris was one of the most vocal critics of Ferrari's practices, resulting in him getting banned from driving press Ferraris. But then again, this is a customer car.
Toyota reveals latest autonomous tech test bed
Fri, Mar 3 2017Toyota revealed its latest autonomous technology effort Friday, a sophisticated Lexus LS 600hL prototype that showcases its plans to advance in the emerging field. The Lexus is the first developed entirely by the company's in-house Toyota Research Institute and it will focus on the car's ability to learn and see behavior on the road. Toyota is showing the car at the Prius Challenge event at Sonoma Raceway. The Lexus uses Lidar, radar, and sensors, which potentially reduce reliance on mapping. The prototype advances Toyota's last concept vehicle shown at the Consumer Electronics Show in 2013. This one is said to be more flexible and it will focus on Toyota's two autonomous tech pillars, called Guardian and Chauffeur. Guardian is meant to improve safety features, while Chauffeur moves toward full autonomy. "We believe Guardian can probably be deployed sooner and more widely than Chauffeur, providing high-level driver-assist features capable of helping mitigate collisions and save lives, sooner rather than later," Toyota Research Institute Gill Pratt said in a statement. Ford fights back against patent trolls
Fri, Feb 13 2015Some people are just awful. Some organizations are just as awful. And when those people join those organizations, we get stories like this one, where Ford has spent the past several years combatting so-called patent trolls. According to Automotive News, these malicious organizations have filed over a dozen lawsuits against the company since 2012. They work by purchasing patents, only to later accuse companies of misusing intellectual property, despite the fact that the so-called patent assertion companies never actually, you know, do anything with said intellectual property. AN reports that both Hyundai and Toyota have been victimized by these companies, with the former forced to pay $11.5 million to a company called Clear With Computers. Toyota, meanwhile, settled with Paice LLC, over its hybrid tech. The world's largest automaker agreed to pay $5 million, on top of $98 for every hybrid it sold (if the terms of the deal included each of the roughly 1.5 million hybrids Toyota sold since 2000, the company would have owed $147 million). Including the previous couple of examples, AN reports 107 suits were filed against automakers last year alone. But Ford is taking action to prevent further troubles... kind of. The company has signed on with a firm called RPX, in what sounds strangely like a protection racket. Automakers like Ford pay RPX around $1.5 million each year for access to its catalog of patents, which it spent nearly $1 billion building. "We take the protection and licensing of patented innovations very seriously," Ford told AN via email. "And as many smart businesses are doing, we are taking proactive steps to protect against those seeking patent infringement litigation." What are your thoughts on this? Should this patent business be better managed? Is it reasonable that companies purchase patents only to file suit against the companies that build actual products? Have your say in Comments.
