Clean Mk2 Celica Supra. Rebuilt Motor, Great Driver Or Restoration Project on 2040-cars
Salt Lake City, Utah, United States

CLEAN 1985 CELICA SUPRA FOR SALE- NO RESERVE, AUCTION STYLE LISTING!! More pics of the interior are coming, I apologize. Also, autocheck reports that it was titled in 2001 and at that time it was reported "not actual mileage." Utah is kind of funny about odometer requirements on older cars and there is no verification whatsoever done by the state on odometers. I CAN PERSONALLY GUARANTEE THIS CAR HAS 208,000 ORIGINAL MILES. The odometer works and always has, and as far as I know I got the car from the original owner.
This supra is in very good condition for the age and mileage. While it is by no means a show quality car, it is a very clean driver or base for a restoration. These are getting harder to find and only increasing in value. Great investment in a classic Japanese sports car. This car is the "P" or performance package, which had wider wheels, fatter tires, fender flares, and a few other distinguishing features. The motor was rebuilt in 2001 (top end, head gasket, water pump, timing belt) and it was parked that year upon the death of the owner. It sat until 2014 when I went through it and got it running. The tank and injectors have been cleaned, new fuel pump installed, fuel filter, lines etc as well as a complete tuneup. It also has a new battery. It runs perfectly with no hesitation, bogging or misfiring. It sounds great and pulls strong. It has a newer exhaust all the way back. I had plans to save it from storage and restore it, but all I have done is get it driveable. It will still need tires (they have great tread, but are old.) Probably rear shocks, and some minor work here and there but all in all it runs and drives great and is a strong reliable runner. The clutch feels strong and the transmission feels nice. It is a rewarding car to drive. The body: The body is clean and straight. There are no missing or broken trim pieces. No dings or dents. The only noticeable flaw is the drivers front marker lens is cracked. The car has been repainted (probably in the 90s) but looks to be a fairly thorough paint job. All the doorjams etc look good and the paint still shines and feels smooth. There is some minor surface rust near the gas filler door, but none elsewhere. Undercarriage has minor surface rust as well but really nothing concerning. There is no rust on the body or undercarriage that I would consider "rot" or un-repairable. The interior: Interior is clean and nice. Minor wear on the outer drivers side bolster and arm rest. Other than that the interior is a 9/10. Dash is un-cracked, headliner is clean, carpets are good, and nothing is missing or broken. It comes with the original carpet mats and original rubber mats. It has an aftermarket cd player that was installed in the 90s with a kenwood equalizer. It is wired for subs, and there is a kenwood amp underneath the passengers seat. The drivers seat has a small air bladder with which you can inflate different sections of the seats to suit your preference. They really are comfortable sporty feeling seats. As far as I can tell everything works including the A/C and heat. The car is equipped with cruise control which is a somewhat rare option on 5-speed performance packages. All gauges function correctly. Aside from the car, this is what is included: 2 factory rubber mats 2 factory carpet mats an un-opened leather bra for the car 2 sets of keys original owners manual spare tire toolkit The car is located in Salt Lake City, UT and is also for sale locally. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time for any reason. The car has a clean clear utah title and will be sold with a title and bill of sale. BUYER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ARRANGING SHIPPING. I WILL BE HAPPY TO MEET A TRANSPORT TRUCK ANYWHERE IN SALT LAKE VALLEY. THE CAR IS SOLD AS IS WITH NO EXISTING OR IMPLIED WARRANTY. I HAVE TRIED TO BE HONEST AND THOROUGH IN MY DESCRIPTION OF THE CAR. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE FEEL FREE TO MESSAGE ME, AND I WILL GIVE YOU MY PHONE #. PLEASE ASK ANY QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE AND READ THE WHOLE AD BEFORE BIDDING. SERIOUS BUYERS ONLY. IF YOU WIN THE AUCTION, YOU OWN THE CAR. YOU ARE NOT BIDDING ON THE OPPORTUNITY TO BUY THE CAR, YOU ARE BUYING IT. A $500 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT IS DUE WITHIN 24 HOURS OF AUCTION CLOSE. I'm not trying to scare away buyers or come across rude but I have had many flaky buyers on eBay motors. Please don't waste my time or the time of people who actually want the car. Feel free to contact me with ANY questions you have about the car or the auction. I accept cash and cashiers check. The deposit will be paid by paypal or bank transfer. Thank you |

Refreshed Toyota 86/Subaru BRZ spied running around the Nurburgring
Tue, Oct 15 2019The Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ are officially confirmed for a second generation, but it looks like this current car will not go softly into the night. One of our spy photographers just caught a camo’d up BRZ/86 pounding around the Nurburgring with a few changes in store. This tester only has camouflage on the front and rear of the car, indicating a light refresh is the extent of the styling changes. In examining the car as a whole, itÂ’s a rather conflicting tester. Both the grille and headlights tell us itÂ’s an 86, but the badge on the rear clearly says “BRZ.” The Toyota 86 has a different grille than the BRZ, and we can see that style grille flanked by some massaged vents on both sides. Toyota uses a different style of headlight for the 86, and these look similar to those used in the current car. New front-design features are covered up by the camouflage, but the sheet metal doesnÂ’t appear to be changing. Another area of potential change is at the rear of the car. More camouflage on the trunk lid covers the obvious BRZ badge and the taillights. We donÂ’t see much in the way of differences between the taillights on this model and the current BRZ/86 twins, but the manufacturer obviously wants to keep something secret back there. What weÂ’re most excited about is seeing the extra vent behind the front wheels. Current BRZ and 86 trims donÂ’t feature such intense cooling additions. Above it sits what appears to be a badge or protrusion of some sort. The window-level badging is still visible under the wrapping, but the tire-level badge is a new one — itÂ’s similar to the design we see on the WRX and WRX STI. All things considered, this one is a little confusing. Subaru could be adopting a more Toyota 86-esque design, but we suspect a special edition is in the works. Hopefully it involves more than just design tweaks, and gives this model a hearty send-off before the new generation arrives.
BMW i5 returns as next rumored i Project vehicle
Thu, Sep 17 2015Hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle enthusiasts may want to give each other some high-fives when they hear the latest news about BMW's reputed i5. The German automaker has been rumored to be on the verge of expanding its i brand beyond its i3 battery-electric and i8 plug-in hybrid cars for a long while. The latest rumors say that BMW could be working on a hydrogen-powered i5 crossover. BMW is in the "final stages of consideration" of expanding the sub-brand, Bloomberg News says, citing comments BMW executive Ian Robertson made this week at the Frankfurt Motor Show. There may be more light-weighting efforts, and an alternative powertrain is sure to be in order, but there are few details beyond that. BMW of North America spokeswoman Rebecca Kiehne declined to comment to AutoblogGreen. Since 2013, BMW has worked with Toyota on hydrogen fuel-cell drivetrains and might further expand that relationship, MarketWatch says, citing BMW financial chief Friedrich Eichiner. The two automakers have already worked together on a prototype BMW 5 Series sedan with a hydrogen-powered engine. That car was unveiled this summer. Earlier this year, we heard reports about an i5 that would actually be a hybrid-electric vehicle of sorts, and an extremely powerful one. That rumored vehicle – again some sort of modified 5 Series – would actually contain one gas-powered engine and two electric motors, all combining for more than 540 horsepower. If these latest rumors turn out to be true, they would mark a change in things, but we won't be surprise if we hear yet another version of what the i5 will be before it's all said and done.
Toyota's Psy-style Waku-Doki ad inherits Japan's bizarre ad crown
Tue, 29 Jul 2014A new Japanese Toyota ad featuring crisply suited businessmen driving into the jungle only to segue into a Psy-style music-video dance-off with a gorilla and natives is the latest car commercial to go viral. Jungle Wakudoki is the newest installment in a grand tradition of bizarre ads from the island nation that are by turns hilarious, head-scratching and occasionally even frightening.
Let's face it: My people are weird.
I'm half-Japanese and take suitable pride in my Asian roots, but even I can't figure out what's been slipped into the water coolers of the country's ad agencies much of the time - or the nation at large, for that matter. From Japan's ubiquitous obsession with all things adorable (kawaii) to its offbeat sense of humor and its bizarrely perverse and violent tentacle porn, it's clear there's a lot going on in the culture, and only some of it bubbles up to the surface in its marketing efforts. Much of the strangest and most amazing ads are for non-transportation products (e.g. laundry soap, snacks, energy drinks), but the automotive space has its fair share. This latest Toyota ad had me trawling YouTube for a common theme, trying to make sense of why these spots are the way they are. Scroll down to watch the Toyota ad in question as well as a bunch of other examples of Japan's most bizarre car-related ads and see if you can't find the thread that runs between them. Is it just that something's being lost in translation? Have your say in Comments.
