The car still looks good for it's age and runs good.  It has a lot left to work with.  You will need to do some work on this car to drive it regularly.  I am still driving it now so the miles may go up a bit (but not a lot).  I have enjoyed this car for quite a few years, but I need to cut back on my car volume (I also have a 300ZX, a Stealth, a Barracuda, and a V8 Audi).

I have owned this car since 2007.  I had it in my garage from mid-2007 through 2011 because the turbo was was blown (loaned the car to a friend for 1 day).  The car developed a bad oil leak last winter, which I believe to be coming from the head gasket, although I haven't had it professionally looked at.  Since the oil does not get into the coolant and only leaks out of the engine, I have still been driving it and adding oil regularly.  Be aware that the car also needs a brake line replaced.  I have patched it with braided high pressure hose, but if you really push hard on the brake pedal it will leak.  

I also have been keeping the overdrive off on the transmission so that the turbo will spool up quicker.  The transmission does not like to go in to overdrive now, potentially because I have left it turned off for so long. 


TEMS working (this is the computer controled active suspension that adjusts base on throttle position and cornering.  The "Sport" and "Normal" switch doesn't always work, but the computer always reacts to your driving).

Turbo is upgraded to a T4 (from stock T3) which gives about an additional 35hp.   I have not increased the boost but with a boost controller and a racing head gasket, the engine could be at around 300hp.
Rear tires are Eagle GTs with less than 1000 miles on them (cost over $300 for both).  The fronts should be replaced soon, but probably have 3000-5000 miles left on them.
Has removable Targa top with the original removal key.  Targa top stows away in the hatch when driving (see pictures)

Ignition key is broken off in ignition so ignition key is shorter that normal (see picture).  2 ignition keys included.  Both doors and hatch re-keyed to regular key and 2 of those are included.
Ignition works intermittantly with key so push button ignition override installed (under steering wheel, turn key to on and press button).

Toyota recalls 112,500 models for steering, transmission issues

Toyota has announced a voluntary recall of a variety of vehicles built between model years 2012 and 2015. Roughly 110,000 of the 112,500 vehicles being recalled consist of the gas and hybrid variants of the 2015 Camry and Highlander, as well as the 2014 and 2015 RAV4. The problem, this time around, is down to a circuit board that may have been damaged during manufacturing of the electric power steering system. According to Toyota, the bad circuit board can lead to a loss of power steering. Owners would still have manual steering control, although they'll have a warning lamp glaring at them from the instrument cluster the entire time. As for the remaining 2,500 vehicles, they're limited to the RAV4 EV, built between 2012 and 2014. A software issue in the electric vehicle traction motor assembly could cause the EV to shift into neutral. As with the issue affecting the Camry, Highlander and gas-powered RAV4, vehicles with this problem will produce a warning lamp in the instrument cluster, as well as a "Check EV" message. Toyota will be notifying owners of the affected vehicles via snail mail, and asking them to report in for free repairs at their local dealership. This condition will also trigger a "Check EV System" warning message on the instrument panel and turn on a malfunction indicator lamp. If the vehicle shifts to "neutral", this will result in a complete loss of drive power, which can increase the risk of a crash. Owners of the involved vehicles will receive a notification by first class mail. Toyota dealers will repair the electric vehicle traction motor assembly. In the involved Camry, Camry Hybrid, Highlander, Highlander Hybrid and RAV 4 vehicles, a circuit board for the electric power steering (EPS) may have been damaged during its manufacturing process. This can result in the loss of power steering assist; an instrument panel warning lamp will also come on.

Toyota teams with FirstElement Fuel on 19 hydrogen stations in California

Cross Toyota with a former General Motors and Hyundai executive and you might just get some real momentum when it comes to hydrogen refueling station deployment. Toyota and FirstElement Fuel Inc., which is headed by ex-GM and Hyundai executive Joel Ewanick, are working together on a project designed to complement California's agreement to spend about $200 million building 100 stations in the state. And while Toyota didn't put out any specific numbers, Automotive News reports that FirstElement received a $27.6 million grant from the California Energy Commission to build 19 stations, which will be sited at existing fueling spots and spaced far enough apart to be reachable by anyone within the state. In all, California has granted $47 million for the deployment of 28 new stations. Additionally, Toyota will get Linde to build a refueling station on a Toyota-owned property in the San Francisco Bay Area's San Ramon, Calif. Toyota, which is targeting a full-tank range of 300 miles and a five-minute refueling time for its fuel-cell sedan, had its fuel-cell prototype make its North American debut at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January. The company said at the time that 68 stations could serve 10,000 hydrogen vehicles. And while that station number doesn't sound terribly high, consider that there are fewer than 10 hydrogen refueling stations in California now. Next-generation Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ confirmed

Toyota and Subaru jointly announced today that they would be continuing and expanding their alliance. Toyota will be taking a larger stake in Subaru, bringing the total to 20%, and Subaru will respond in kind by buying shares equal to the value of those purchased by Toyota. In terms of product, the two companies will reportedly swap knowledge in the development of all-wheel-drive systems, battery-electric powertrains and connected/autonomous driving technologies. Oh, and there will be a next-generation Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ. Despite less-than-stellar sales, the two companies confirmed that the rear-wheel-drive Toyabaru twins will be returning for a sequel. No details about them were provided, but a second-generation has widely been speculated and reported, with Australia's Motor quoting Supra chief engineer Tatsuya Tada confirming as such. "We have a new 86 team," he told Motor. "We have to make a new 86 that surpasses the Supra ... that is what the customer expects." Beyond that, there is rampant speculation of where the rear-drive platform will originate (a derivative of Toyota's TNGA platform, something boosted from Mazda, aliens), as well as what might find its way under the hood (virtually anything would be better than what's there now).
