2005 Toyota Rav4 L Sport Utility 4-door 2.4l on 2040-cars

I am looking to sell my 2005 Toyota Rav4 L AWD.
The only reason I am selling is because I want a bigger SUV and more cargo space. This is the finest vehicle I have ever owned. In fact, my wife is quite angry with me for even contemplating parting with a vehicle which has served us so well. The fortunate new owner of this Rav4 will be getting a very reliable vehicle with excellent gas mileage that is essentially a new SUV under the hood. I AM ALSO THROWING IN MY IX 9500 Passport Radar Detector in with the car, one of the best ones on the market. I put a lot of money into the vehicle over the past year. It has brand new; - Radiator, hoses, & water pump. - Belts - Air Conditioning system - Spark Plugs - Battery/ Starter & Alternator. - Front Axle, Struts, Shocks, & Stabilizers. - Exhaust Pipe and Muffler - Front and Rear Brakes and Rotors all done in Feb. '13 - Differentials, Transmission, & Motor Oil changed last week. - Tires rotated and Alignment performed last week. - Replaced the E-Brake shoes and went ahead and replaced the rear rotors and brake pads again yesterday! Furthermore, The Body and Paint is in fantastic shape with only insignificant parking scrapes on the plastic driver's side front and rear bumper, which you can not even see unless looking up close. The Interior has some scratches through daily use and the steering wheel is slightly worn as well. The Rav4 AWD system performs flawlessly in poor weather and road conditions. I've driven it in whiteout conditions and it has never gotten stuck when buried in the snow by the plows. I have yet to get out the shovel and dig it out. I have maintained this vehicle very well since I bought it new from Penn Toyota in Greenvale, NY. It currently has 144000 miles but runs like its still new. It will have no trouble putting on another 150000 and more so do not be dissuaded by the mileage. The Cooper AT tires have about 33,000 miles left on them and they have worn evenly through rotating them at each oil change. The only thing this car will need for a very long time is the oil changed. Everything runs perfectly on this vehicle including all electronics. I have some of the service records as well, and all of the ones within the past year. Buy with full confidence and feel free to come by and check out the vehicle and take it for a test drive. Call met at three-four-seven-seven-six-seven-six-six-four-nine with any questions/concerns, etc. I can also email you a copy of the Carfax. I will accept cash on the condition that the buyer make the transaction with me at the bank. I will not sign over the title nor turn over the keys until successful deposit. I will accept a check but will not sign over the title or turn over the keys until the check has cleared the bank. |

Toyota unintended acceleration lawsuit settled for $16M
Mon, 08 Apr 2013Slowly, the many loose threads still dangling after the unintended acceleration issue Toyota faced a few years ago are being resolved. The Orange County District Attorney's office was believed to be the first DA's office to take Toyota to court, its suit alleging that Toyota knew its cars had defects and continued to sell them. The suit sought to "permanently enjoin Toyota from continued unlawful, unfair, deceptive, and fraudulent business practices as it pertains to both consumers and competitors" and asked for $2,500 "for every violation of the Unfair Business Practices Act," plus costs.
That suit has now been settled, Toyota - without admitting fault or wrongdoing - agreeing to pay $16 million to the county. Half of the money will go to the Orange County Gang Reduction Intervention Partnership, another four million dollars to the OC DA's office to investigate economic crime, the remaining four million being used to pay for the case.
Toyota GT86 convertible on 'indefinite hold'
Sat, 05 Oct 2013Bad news, sportscar fans. According to a new report from What Car?, Toyota has cancelled plans to produce a GT86 convertible, a model based on the FT-86 Open Concept that debuted at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. In truth, Toyota never actually confirmed it would produce the budget-friendly droptop in the first place, but rumors have been flying since last year and Toyota reportedly showed its embattled Scion dealers a FR-S version of the convertible in August. Presumably, this means that a lidless variant of the Subaru BRZ is not in the cards, either.
The reason for the move is unknown, though What Car? reports "one possible cause is weight; Toyota did say that further work would be required on rigidity before the convertible could be launched, and that could have added extra bulk that conflict with the regular GT86's ethos of light weight and agile handling." It doesn't look like that work will happen anytime soon, as "sources now say that the car has now been delayed indefinitely, with no place in Toyota's product plan in either 2014 or 2015." Still holding out hope? What Car? says the project could be "fast-tracked" if management decides it wants to reboot the program down the road.

HQ move based on study, not pitch from Gov. Perry, Toyota says
Tue, 29 Apr 2014Toyota's surprising announcement on Monday that it will move its North American headquarters from Torrance, CA location to the Dallas suburb of Plano, TX is allegedly not due to any political wrangling from the state's Republican governor, Rick Perry.
Perry (above) has been up front in his aggressive pursuit of businesses and jobs for Texas, traveling to California, Missouri, Illinois and New York to tempt corporations to his state. And it's not just about the promise of much lower taxes, a Perry spokesman reminds Automotive News that the state boasts, "a workforce that is skilled and ready to do any job."
For his part, Jim Lentz, Toyota's North American CEO said Plano was chosen through an internal process, with the location helped by its proximity to the company's massive pickup factory in San Antonio rather than any campaigning from the governor.
