Don't let the miles fool you. This loaded one owner 2005 Toyota Prius is just getting started. It runs and drives 100%, is super fuel efficient, has a clean Autocheck and is being sold with no reserve. The 1.5L four cylinder electric/gas engine purrs along without a miss or fluid loss. No "check engine" or warning lights of any kind. The hybrid system is working perfectly. It charges and assists as necessary and the auto stop engages when stopped. The CVT automatic transmission is working perfectly. The brakes, steering and suspension are problem free. No exhaust leaks. The exterior should be considered above average with the miles. There are no major dents or dings. There is a small scrape on the right rear door where it looks like someone tried to clean too hard and rubbed the clearcoat (see pic). No windshield cracks. The lights and lenses are bright with no cracks. The tires, on factory alloy wheels have about 25% tread. The interior is tan carpet and cloth seats. Both are in good condition with no holes, rips, stains or wear areas. The heat is hot and the AC is cold. The steering wheel has controls for the climate, audio, info, navigation, bluetooth, etc. There is a factory sound system with CD and JBL speakers. All the power options such as windows, side mirrors, cruise control, etc. work as designed. Ever button or switch works. Vote to unionize Toyota Canada plant faces delay
Fri, 04 Apr 2014Volkswagen isn't the only automaker with high-profile unionization efforts afoot at one of its North American factories. Unifor, Canada's largest private-sector union, is attempting to organize Toyota's factories in Ontario, reports Reuters. A vote was originally set for next week, but Unifor has apparently found more workers eligible to vote, delaying the proceedings. It hasn't rescheduled the ballot yet, but claims there are 7,500 employees with the right to vote, with over 3,000 having already signed union cards.
Toyota is pushing against organizing, saying that workers already have a payment and benefits near the top of the industry, and noting that it has never laid off a permanent employee in Canada. Unifor has reportedly countered by saying that about a quarter of the workforce is operating under a temporary contract, which receives lower benefits.
The automaker has three factories in Ontario - two in Cambridge and one in Woodstock. To form a union, a majority of eligible employees must vote to join Unifor. If successful, they would be the first wholly owned Toyota plants in North America to be organized. Previous attempts to unionize the Japanese automaker's Canadian factories in 2001 and 2008 failed due to lack of support.
Toyota to drop regular-cab Tacoma as small pickups take another hit
Fri, 02 Aug 2013Even as General Motors prepares to redesign its midsize pickups, the market for sub-fullsize trucks continues to shrink. The remaining competitors in the segment are the well-aged Nissan Frontier, Honda Ridgeline and Toyota Tacoma, and now Truck Trend is reporting that the latter will be dropping its regular cab model due to poor sales.
According to the article, the available configurations for the Tacoma lineup will be whittled down in 2015, which apparently spells the end for the two-door Taco. The Tacoma is currently the last truck in its class to be offered in a regular cab configuration, with the Frontier no longer offering a standard cab model and spy shots of the next-gen Chevrolet Colorado not revealing any glimpse of a short cab, either.
Toyota officially outsells GM, VW through first three quarters
Tue, 29 Oct 2013When it comes to global vehicle deliveries, the term "Big Three" doesn't apply to Ford, Chrysler and General Motors, but instead Toyota, GM and Volkswagen - in that order - through the third quarter of 2013. Toyota sold 7.41-million vehicles through the third quarter and is on track to deliver more vehicles this year than GM and VW, which sold 7.25-million and 7.03-million, respectively, through the same period, Bloomberg reports.
During the third quarter, from July to September, Toyota's 2.5-million deliveries helped to push it higher than its closest competitors this year. In that period, GM delivered 2.4-million vehicles while VW posted 2.33-million deliveries.
Part of the reason behind Toyota's and other Japanese automakers resurgence globally is the weakened yen, which can be attributed to policies made by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe since he took office in December 2012. Many refer to those monetary easing policies as 'Abenomics,' which has led some, such as Ford, to call Japan a currency manipulator and is a big reason why the US is lobbying to oppose Japan's entry into the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP).
