Don't let the miles fool you. This loaded one owner 2005 Toyota Prius is just getting started. It runs and drives 100%, is super fuel efficient, has a clean Autocheck and is being sold with no reserve. The 1.5L four cylinder electric/gas engine purrs along without a miss or fluid loss. No "check engine" or warning lights of any kind. The hybrid system is working perfectly. It charges and assists as necessary and the auto stop engages when stopped. The CVT automatic transmission is working perfectly. The brakes, steering and suspension are problem free. No exhaust leaks. The exterior should be considered above average with the miles. There are no major dents or dings. There is a small scrape on the right rear door where it looks like someone tried to clean too hard and rubbed the clearcoat (see pic). No windshield cracks. The lights and lenses are bright with no cracks. The tires, on factory alloy wheels have about 25% tread. The interior is tan carpet and cloth seats. Both are in good condition with no holes, rips, stains or wear areas. The heat is hot and the AC is cold. The steering wheel has controls for the climate, audio, info, navigation, bluetooth, etc. There is a factory sound system with CD and JBL speakers. All the power options such as windows, side mirrors, cruise control, etc. work as designed. Ever button or switch works. This one owner Prius has the same fuel efficient qualities as the new higher priced models. It runs and drives 100%. There are absolutely no mechanical issues and no indication of any impending problems. The new owner will be able to drive home, with confidence, no matter where they live. 130,000 Toyota Tundra pickups recalled over airbag issue
Fri, 12 Sep 2014Toyota is announcing a recall for about 130,000 examples of the 2014 Tundra Tundra pickup in Crew-Max Cab and Double Cab configurations.
According to the company, the "garnish on the center pillars" inside the trucks might not have been installed correctly. If the vehicle were in an accident, the side curtain airbags could deploy in the wrong shape. Toyota says that it's not aware of any crashes, injuries or fatalities related to this potential problem.
To fix the issue, the pickups will have their interior center pillars inspected, and if faulty, the pieces will be replaced. Obviously, this will be done at no cost to owners. Scroll down to read the full announcement.

Chrysler Pacifica, a family hauler with the ability to go 30 miles on electric power. Kia Optima. The nomination is for the full line-up, but really the hybrid and plug-in hybrid models are the green stars here. BMW 330e iPerformance, one of the automaker's many new plug-in hybrids that bring battery power to models outside the i sub-brand. Green Car Journal will announce the winners at the Los Angeles Auto Show on November 17th, along with some, "other green transportation announcements," whatever that means. Airbag recall adds 85k Pontiac Vibes to tally
Fri, 13 Jun 2014The repairs needed for the faulty airbag inflators supplied by Takata continue to expand. Toyota initially announced a recall of 766,300 vehicles equipped with the bad part on June 11 as a followup to a campaign from 2013. Soon after, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened a preliminary evaluation into five automakers who also used the component in their models. Now, NHTSA has released the official announcement of the latest Toyota recall listing 844,277 affected cars, including the newly added 2003-2004 Pontiac Vibe.
While NHTSA's document didn't include a model-by-model breakdown, General Motors spokesperson Alan Adler estimated to Autoblog that roughly 85,000 Vibes in the US would be covered under the latest recall. Like the rest of the affected models, the airbag inflator could rupture in a crash causing the bag not to work correctly, possibly spraying metal fragments at the occupant.
Toyota spokesperson Cindy Knight told Autoblog that the reason for the disparity between the earlier press release and NHTSA document was that Toyota was continuing to comb through VINs to create a list of affected vehicles.
