For sale is a great running 2004 Toyota Prius. It is very fuel efficient, and is being sold with no reserve. The 1.5L four cylinder electric/gas engine purrs along without a miss, smoke or fluid loss. The hybrid system is working 100%. It charges and assists as required and the auto stop engages when stopped. There are no "check engine" or warning lights of any kind. The automatic transmission shifts smoothly without any hesitation. The brakes, suspension and steering have no issues. No exhaust leaks. The exterior is a glossy silver and is very clean. There are no major dents, . No body rust. There are a couple of scratches and chips (shown). The tires are mounted on factory alloy wheels. The tires are not new but will take you where you need to go (see pictures) The interior is grey carpet and cloth seats. Slight wear on drivers seat (shown). The interior is clean. There is a factory sound system with CD. All the power options such as windows, cruise control, side mirrors, etc. work as designed. The heat is hot and the AC is cold. No problems. This is a very nice Toyota Prius. We would consider the condition above average. There are absolutely no mechanical issues and no indication of any impending problems. The new owner will be able to drive home, with confidence, no matter where they live. Toyota to start production of hydrogen vehicles in December
Sun, 08 Jun 2014Toyota's hydrogen fuel cell vehicle will be in showrooms sooner than planned, the Japan Times reporting that production will commence in mid-December with the sedan following "by the end of this year." No reason was given for the new timeline; Toyota has been saying all along that we'd see it in 2015.
The company is said to be "considering" production volume of "dozens of... vehicles per month" at a "likely" price of eight million yen, which is $78,030 US. That is well in line with the numbers thrown around last year, when the target was somewhere between $50,000 and $100,000. Then late last year, during our first drive of the FCHV mule, we wrote that "the official quote... [is] that a price of 'less than 10 million yen is ideal.'"
That alleged $78K is a sizable sum to be one of the early adopters on the hydrogen fuel cell wagon train, but with things moving around so much - and with Toyota publicly citing hydrogen fuel cells as the future - there's plenty of reason to be cautious about that number.
Santa swaps his sleigh for a Ferrari-powered Toyota
Fri, Dec 23 2016A Ferrari-powered Toyota 86 is sure to garner a bit of attention, as well it should. We've been paying attention throughout this build, so it should be no surprise then that Santa did as well. He's ditched his red sleigh for the Gumout GT4586 in this video. If you've been following along, you know that Ryan Tuerck and Gumout built this completely bonkers machine that's far more exciting than some previous Japanese/Italian mash-up automobiles. Donut Media has been doing their part to document and promote every stage of the process. This new video is filled with the gratuitous amounts of lights, noise, and tire smoke that Donut is known for. We don't know the conversion from horsepower to reindeerpower, but the GT4586 should provide plenty of oomph for Santa's Christmas trek.
