Silver Spring, Maryland, United States

Up for auction is a 2003 Toyota MR2 Spyder in good shape. Below is a summary each of the important systems in the car, the description is to the best of my ability. Car was inspected on a lift and on the road to provide the best report possible.

The car is very pleasing to drive, it is very quiet and accelerates nicely and smoothly. The impression i got while driving almost 300 miles in town and on freeways is why did they stop building these! This is much nicer than any miata in the same year range! The shifter is smooth as butter and any novice can row through the gears with ease. Power is nice and handling is great.

Engine:

Runs strong and smooth, no misfires or lower end rattle or knock. Once you push on pedal acceleration is swift and quiet, no leaks of any kind.

Transmission:

Shifts smooth and has no lag or hesitation. clutch feels like its got plenty of miles to go.

Top:

Works perfectly, never an issue going up or down. Just a small tear on passenger side. Manual Top

Wheels, Tires, Brakes, Suspension:

Wheels are peeling and could use refinish or replacement, however they are straight with no bends or damage. Tires have tread left i'd say about 80%, while brakes feel strong and sure in stopping even when hot during long drives. All shocks feel firm and body does not float or bang over bumps, feels as it should as does steering.

Interior:

Seats are leather and interior is great except for tear on driver seat and peeling leather on door panell. All buttons and switches work as they should as does the AC. All windows work as they should.

Lighting:

All lights work as they should including fog lights. 1 fog light bulb out.

Body:

Passenger side has 2 dents(pic) but do not look bad. Rest of car looks great.

Bid with confidence and feel free to ask any questions you'd like. Thanks for looking

Aging Prius, dropping gas prices putting hurt on hybrid, EV sales

Fri, 24 Oct 2014

"As Prius represents by far the biggest chunk of the hybrid marketplace, where Prius goes, the segment goes," - Ed Kim, Autopacific
Fuel prices in the US have been tumbling for the last several weeks, with the average price of a gallon of gas at $3.120 as of October 20, according to the US Energy Information Administration. That price reflects a serious recent drop from $3.299 on October 6. Reports have even suggested that those low numbers might not change for a little while, perhaps as long as years. While drivers certainly love paying less at the pump, the change may be hurting the market for more fuel-efficient models, including the Toyota Prius.

North American production of foreign marques to jump in 2014

Sun, 23 Dec 2012

Wards Auto has released its North American Light Vehicle Production Forecast for 2014, and the report predicts foreign manufacturers will increase production on the continent some 3.9 percent by 2014. If accurate, that should see 123,000 additional cars, trucks and vans produced in North America, swelling the total number of units produced both by domestic and foreign manufacturers to 16.9 million light vehicles from a projected 15.6 million in 2013. Much of the increase can be attributed to the fact that Toyota intends to produce another car at its Blue Springs, MS plant as well as a new Lexus model at its Georgetown, KY facility in a year's time.
Likewise, Volkswagen intends to move production of a currently imported model to its plant in Puebla, Mexico. Daimler, Honda, Nissan and Mazda also plan to build additional models on North American soil for the first time. Around two-thirds of the new North American manufacturing will take place in Mexico, helping the country soak up a full 20 percent of the content's automotive production for the first time. You can head over to the Wards Auto site for the full report.

2015 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro

Thu, 23 Oct 2014

Despite the earnest efforts of Japanese automakers like Toyota and Nissan, the American pickup truck scene remains wholly dominated by the likes of Ford, General Motors and Chrysler. This is not news. Part of the reason is because of the sheer number of variants offered by US automakers - everything from work-spec base trucks to house-leveling heavy duty models can be had, with a seemingly endless combination of engines, cab sizes, bed lengths and trim levels. It's a hugely profitable business, and though the Japanese automakers still offer competitive fullsize trucks, in terms of sheer volume, they simply don't compete.
But American pickups aren't just about work; there's a huge play aspect involved, too. Look at the desert-storming Ford F-150 SVT Raptor or the Ram Power Wagon - these butch trucks are built with superb off-road prowess in mind, and Detroit's Japanese rivals have once again largely been silent in this segment. Until now.
Introduced at the 2014 Chicago Auto Show, Toyota now offers the TRD Pro series of models that, in addition to the crazy-orange Tundra seen here, includes the smaller Tacoma pickup and 4Runner SUV. And this isn't just some pretty appearance package, either - there's honest-to-goodness capability baked into all of the TRD Pro models. Intriguing, for sure, so I recently spent a weekend with the big boy Tundra to see what's what.
