Up for bid, reluctantly, is a very nice and exceptional 1993 MR2 base coupe. This special car has had three adult owners from new and has always been pampered and spoiled! These cars are getting harder and harder to find in this condition and have usually been used hard and heavily modified. This example has the hard-to-find automatic transmission which is a God-send if you live in an area with lots of traffic jams like I do. It also has the glass moonroof, a professionally installed upgraded and amplified Sony stereo system, and brand new perforated leather seat covers cut from the factory patterns. She gets comments, compliments, and turns heads everywhere she goes! This MR2 is fully loaded with every factory option and everything works except for the left front door speaker and, sometimes, the tachometer. The back tires are brand-new and the front tires have about 90% tread life left. The A/C is ice cold and uses the old school R12 refrigerant., Always garaged and comes with a new high quality indoor/outdoor car cover. Custom Enkie GP5 16 inch wheels with Toyota center caps (minor road rash on two of them). Factory MR2 Turbo body upgrades, along with a brand new 1994-1995 factory tail light conversion, have been professionally installed and include brand new (expensive) factory fog lights. Paint and body are in, overall, excellent condition with some minor repaired paint chips and 4 small dings that can easily be removed by a paintless dent removal company. Looks & drives great and is a real pleasue to drive on those twisty roads! Completely reliable as Toyotas are known for. Drive her anywhere with total confidence. Must see! No accidents and all the original fenders, doors, and glass are still in place, Non-smoker previous owners. Clear title in hand. Over $15K invested. MR2's of this caliber are constantly going up in value as they become harder to find.  Original factory wheels are included. Don't miss out on this one! Great graduation gift.

Toyota recalling 20k 2014 and 2015 cars and CUVs with 3.5L engines

Thu, 18 Sep 2014

Toyota has announced a recall of roughly 20,000 vehicles covering the 2014 Avalon, Camry, Highlander (pictured) and Sienna, as well as the 2015 Lexus RX luxury crossover. The affected vehicles are all powered the 2GR-FE engine, which in layman's terms, is Toyota's well-regarded 3.5-liter V6.
According to Toyota's statement, a parts supplier might not have welded "the end cap on the right-hand fuel delivery pipe in the engine compartment" correctly, meaning fuel could leak. Leaking fuel, of course, increases the chance of an engine fire. That said, no fires, crashes or injuries have been reported due to the issue.
Owners will be notified to report to dealers, where techs will check the fuel delivery pipe and fit a replacement part as necessary.

Toyota takes i-Road tests to the streets of Tokyo

Fri, Mar 21 2014

OK, here's where we think those road tests will start to get a little scary. Those super-narrow all-electric three-wheeled Toyota i-Road vehicles may have looked great sashaying through the towns of the French Riviera. But now? They're being tested in Tokyo. Hoo boy. The Japanese automaker says it'll start testing the i-Roads in the country's largest city on March 24 and will do so through early June. And while there will be some industry experts among the 20 participants, there will also be some regular folks who we hope won't find out the hard way how well those 660-pound, one-yard-wide vehicles perform in crash tests. In the meantime, we'll cross our fingers. The cool thing is that the i-Road now comes in five colors: blue, green, white, yellow and what looks like a magenta-fuchsia-type hue. Earlier this month, Toyota said it started testing the vehicles in Toyota City, Japan, as part of a broader program called "Ha:mo" where people link shared vehicles with public transportation systems (it stands for "Harmonious Mobility Network"). The three-wheeler was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show early last year before getting the star treatment in a French Riviera-locale video. Check out Toyota's press release below and read our impressions of driving the i-Road here.

130,000 Toyota Tundra pickups recalled over airbag issue

Fri, 12 Sep 2014

Toyota is announcing a recall for about 130,000 examples of the 2014 Tundra Tundra pickup in Crew-Max Cab and Double Cab configurations.
According to the company, the "garnish on the center pillars" inside the trucks might not have been installed correctly. If the vehicle were in an accident, the side curtain airbags could deploy in the wrong shape. Toyota says that it's not aware of any crashes, injuries or fatalities related to this potential problem.
To fix the issue, the pickups will have their interior center pillars inspected, and if faulty, the pieces will be replaced. Obviously, this will be done at no cost to owners. Scroll down to read the full announcement.
