The only thing i did to the vehicle was reseal the windshield and replace wires to the spotlights. The little I have driven the vehicle it has run well. Shipping will be ll the buyers responsibility. You are welcome to see the vehicle prior to auction end in Culpeper VA. My cell with questions is 540 729 0295 name is Travis.

"  ****  Awesome 1986 FJ 60 *****

Here is your chance to own an amazing Cruiser with a really cool history.

This Cruiser was purchased by a retired Toyota manager along with 19 other FJ-60's and taken to Costa Rica where it was completely restored 5 years ago.  18 of the Cruisers were sold to folks living there, as they are an ideal vehicle for the place.  This particular FJ was one of his 2 personal Cruisers (one for him and one for his wife) and was used regularly in Costa Rica for about year after being finished.  Once a week, he would pick up the local veterinarian, and take him out through the country to service those that did not come to town.  When they decided to move back home to Oregon, they were not ready to part with their personal FJ's, so they shipped them both back.  For the past 3 years, they had been sitting side by side in his garage, only being driven on rare occasion.  We went to look at one for sale, and ended up buying both of them as a package deal (My wife thought this one would be her daily driver, but she found out that she doesn't like driving a standard transmission in town every day.  Deciding we really don't need two toy's, we have decided to part with this one before we too, become overly attached.

As you will see from the photo's, the FJ is in fantastic condition both inside and out.  As the restoration was done over the course of restoring several others, he didn't bother keeping detailed documents, but as mentioned, this was his personal FJ, so he didn't spare any expense on it.  He did tell me that even buying parts for the projects in bulk, he figures he invested nearly 30k into the project.  Top end of engine, and drivetrain were re-built, all springs and shocks were replaced with new, all body panels were taken apart, painted and put back together, interior was re-done with carpet, custom rubber mat in the back for cargo, and new Kenwood CD player with IPOD connection in glove box.  All the chrome emblems, grill, lights, etc. were replaced.  All window regulators were replaced and properly lubricated so the windows work great.  Custom rear sliding windows were added.  Custom tow hitch and wiring for trailer was installed.  Custom ultra wheels and 33x12x15 BFG mud terrain tires were installed, and are still like brand new.  Custom roof rack, and an ARB bull bumper with Warn 8000 LB winch was installed.  The A/C system was converted to R-134A and we just had it re-freshed so it blows Ice Cold.

All in all this is an amazing Cruiser that gets tons of looks and compliments.  It looks beautiful from any distance, and would look great in any exhibition.  It rides and drives great at 5 mph, or at 65 mph out on the hi-way.  Everything works as it should and it is ready to be your every day driver, or your weekend warrior.

I believe that someone is going to get a fantastic deal on this Cruiser.  We are setting our reserve price at less than half of what has been invested just so we can use the money for our other project, a custom 1983 convertible FJ 60.  "

Chip maker Nvidia adds Volvo to list of self-driving partners

Tue, Jun 27 2017

Chipmaker Nvidia Corp announced on Monday it was partnering with Volvo Cars and Swedish auto supplier Autoliv to develop self-driving car technology for vehicles due to hit the market by 2021. Volvo is owned by China's Geely Automobile Holdings. Silicon Valley-based Nvidia also announced a non-exclusive partnership with German automotive suppliers ZF and Hella for artificial intelligence technology for autonomous driving. Nvidia came to prominence in the gaming industry for designing graphics processing chips, but in recent years has been a key player in the automotive sector for providing the so-called "brain" of the autonomous vehicle. The company, whose many partners already include Tesla, Toyota, Ford, Audi, BMW, and tier one supplier Robert Bosch, announced its latest deals at an automotive electronics show in Ludwigsburg, Germany. Nvidia's Drive PX artificial intelligence platform is used by Tesla in its Models S and X and upcoming Model 3 electric vehicles. Volkswagen AG's Audi is also using the system to reach full autonomous driving by 2020. In a call with reporters, Nvidia's senior automotive director Danny Shapiro said carmakers and their main suppliers are now moving away from the research and development phase of autonomous vehicles and into concrete production plans. The system developed jointly by ZF and Hella, and using Nvidia's Drive PX platform, will combine front cameras with radar and software to create technology meeting the Euro NCAP safety certification for so-called "Level 3" driving, in which some, but not all, driving is performed by the car. Volvo is already using the Drive PX for the self-driving cars in its "Drive Me" autonomous pilot program. Volvo's production vehicles built on Nvidia's platform, as announced on Monday, are planned for sale by 2021.Reporting By Alexandria SageRelated Video: Auto News Green Tesla Toyota Volvo Technology Emerging Technologies Autonomous Vehicles nvidia autoliv

Best compact SUVs of 2023 and 2024

Thu, Oct 20 2022

Compact SUVs are now the go-to choice for family transportation. Actually, considering how popular they are, they have clearly moved beyond only family duty. With such popularity, though, comes an awful lot of competitors, and it can be difficult to figure out which one might be the best compact SUV for you.  It's important to note that by "compact SUV" we're talking about a specific segment. As we describe in our more comprehensive "Best small SUVs" list, there are also subcompact SUVs that vary widely in size amongst themselves, but are clearly smaller than the SUVs below. Frankly, today's segment of compact SUVs isn't exactly compact — some have more cargo space than vehicles that are considered midsize based on their exterior dimensions. They've all grown considerably over the years. While many lists out there just rattle off every vehicle available in a segment, we thought we'd be a bit more helpful and curate your shopping a bit with the top-recommended choices reviewed by Autoblog. We've included both mainstream and compact luxury SUV choices. Best compact SUVs of 2023 and 2024 2024 Honda CR-V Why it stands out: Best-in-class space; excellent hybrid powertrain; sharp interior style; Honda dependabilityCould be better: No lower-price base trim levels; no sporty or off-road niche models; no plug-in hybrid Read our full 2024 Honda CR-V Review Consider the CR-V the baseline for any compact SUV search, and look extra closely at the superb CR-V Hybrid option. Objectively speaking, it's tough to beat due to its massive cargo capacity, voluminous back seat, strong-yet-efficient engines, well-balanced driving dynamics, competitive pricing and features,  and well-regarded reliability. It's easy to see why it continues to be such a best-seller: for the vast majority of compact SUV buyers, and especially families, it checks every box. That's been the case for many years now, however. The all-new 2023 Honda CR-V changes things up by adding a bit more style and character, particularly in terms of its interior design and how surprisingly enjoyable the Sport and Sport Touring hybrid trim levels are to drive.

Toyota produces millionth truck in Texas

Thu, 19 Sep 2013

After going online in 2006, Toyota's San Antonio, Texas truck plant has just built its one-millionth vehicle, the 2014 Tundra 1794 Edition you see above. The plant originally focused on just the Tundra pickup, but the smaller Tacoma started rolling off the line there in 2010, as well.
Fittingly, the 1794 Edition (a new premium trim level for 2014) pays homage to the property on which the Toyota plant now resides - a ranch that was founded in 1794. Scroll down for the official press release for the plant's milestone, and be sure to check out the full gallery of Tundra 1794 Edition images as well.
