I have a 77 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 with a 3/4 Aluminum body, Aluminum Drop Down Tailgate, and brand new rear fender flares on it up for sale. The previous owner said the engine ran perfect when he bought it and that his son messed it up when he got his license and that the engine needs to be rebuilt or at least the block does.  I'm going to be picking up a running 2F engine that I will include for an extra $450 if you want to do a quick swap.  If you want to you can hear it run before I pull it out of the truck. The front and rear brakes, brake lines and also has a new brake master cylinder that were just done 6 months ago. The front bib has some rust on it and I will include one in much better shape to replace the one thats on the truck right now.  The windshield frame has some bubbling along the bottom edge and will need some sanding and bodywork or you can swap another windshield frame on.  Think I know someone who has one off a 76.  The rest of the truck is in good shape with the aluminum body and drop down tailgate. The frame is also in good shape and was painted a year ago by the P.O. The aluminum body was rhino-lined inside the tub and under it at one point as well. All of the lights, blinkers, and even the radio works. Both front seats are in great shape and have a locking center console in between the seats. The skinny wheels and tires that are on the truck do not come with it, I have another set that go with the truck that you can see on it with the pictures of the soft top on it. I just have these skinny wheels and tires on, so I can roll it easier. Truck was garage kept before the previous owner and has been garage kept since I have owned it. Have a clear NJ title for it as well.   The trucks inspection sticker is good til May of 2014. The truck will come with a extra hood, front bib in much better shape to replace the rusted one that's on the truck, a 1 year old soft top & split front soft doors, black bikini top, "2" Rear hatch doors & crossbar for hard top, and a couple of other boxes of parts.  If you have any questions or want to stop by to look at it email me or call me at

Toyota calling for independent, industry-wide Takata airbag testing

Wed, Dec 3 2014

The initiative is still very new, and there's no set timeframe for this third-party testing to begin. With Takata's airbag inflator recall expanding nationwide soon, the scope of this safety campaign is only growing, and is set to affect millions of additional vehicles. Toyota thinks that it can help, though. The Japanese automaker has announced an initiative to get all of the affected companies to band together to fund independent, third-party testing of the faulty components. The goal of this work is to "ensure the inflators that require replacement are accurately identified and promptly fixed," according to Toyota. All of the data would be shared among the participating automakers to better understand the causes of these problems, which still aren't entirely known, and come up with the best way to repair the affected vehicles. "By combining our collective efforts behind a coordinated, comprehensive testing program, we believe we can achieve greater results. Together we will be better equipped to address this issue more rapidly for all customers," said Simon Nagata, President and CEO, Toyota Motor Engineering and Manufacturing North America, in the company's release. According to Toyota spokesperson Cindy Knight speaking to Autoblog, the initiative is still very new, and there's no set timeframe for this third-party testing to begin. The automaker's first step is simply getting the word out that it's looking for partners. She said Toyota "has spoken with colleagues in the industry" about setting up the independent evaluations and specifically said the company has already reached out to Honda and Ford about possibly working together on this. Honda also released a statement calling for similar third party testing, and when reached for comment about Toyota's proposal, Ford spokesperson Kelli Felker responded: "Ford takes the safety of our customers very seriously. We plan to join the proposed industry wide effort to investigate and develop solutions to address this critical issue. We look forward to discussing next steps with NHTSA and other automakers." Scroll down to read Toyota and Honda's full announcements of these safety initiative.

Russian videographer nails this real-life 'Need for Speed' recreation

Tue, Jun 25 2019

Aaron Paul and Kid Cudi tried. They really did. They put forth a decent acting effort, played with some incredible replica supercars, and filmed at some remarkable settings. But it's 2019, and 2014's "Need for Speed" sits at a 6.5/10 on IMDB, a 39 on Metacritic, and a 57% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. The studio attempt to bring "Need for Speed" to life was lukewarm, so a Russian videographer took a shot at the idea with this impressive digital short. Unearthed by Reddit user, AbuDab1, the clip is the work of Russia-based videographer @Chekunov_v. Clearly a fan of all things fast and fancy, as seen by his Instagram, Chekunov recreated the start screen, the garage with car and mod selection, and the race sequences from the video game. The video starts with an Acura RSX Type-S (labeled as the Integra Type R) with familiar theme music playing in the background. Accompanied by video game sound effects, the spotlight switches between a Toyota Celica, a Toyota Supra and a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo. The Supra and Evo are locked, so the user settles on the Celica. He goes on to select mods, including a new spoiler, new wheels and a new color, again to the tune of the proper sound effects, menus and camera views. The car exits the garage and rolls onto the road, where the screen now shows a tachometer and an N2O gauge. The Celica is met with a race challenge, and the car lines up with a Mazda RX-8, an Acura RSX Type-S and a Subaru WRX STI. After a terrible launch, the Celica uses some NOS and takes the victory. Unfortunately, the video is a bit 2 fast, 2 short for our taste. It's well done, has some unique video work, and takes us back into one of our favorite video game series. Maybe this guy can direct the studio sequel.

Toyota Mirai hydrogen fuel cell coming to US Northeast in 2016

Sun, 16 Nov 2014

Looks like someone was able to read the future back in July. That's when rumors first circulated that Toyota's upcoming fuel cell vehicle will be called the Mirai. Today, Toyota president Akio Toyoda confirmed the name alongside plans to build out a hydrogen refueling infrastructure in the US Northeast.
In Japanese, mirai (??) means "future," which is a fitting name for a car that Toyota believes represents the direction the auto industry will go in the coming years. In a promotional video announcing the name, Toyoda said, "For [Toyota], this isn't just another car. This is an opportunity - an opportunity to really make a difference. And making a difference is what Toyota is all about."
To help that future come into existence, Toyota CEO Jim Lentz also disclosed the vague outline of a fuel cell infrastructure investment that Toyota and partner Air Liquide will make in a five-state Northeastern corridor that consists of Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York and Rhode Island. The Mirai will be available there in 2015 and Toyota is going to build 12 stations in and around New York and Boston to support the launch. More details will be available later.
