You are bidding on a 1972 Toyota Landcruiser ("FJ40"). This has been a fun collector car for the last few years, but I haven't had enough time to drive it much and would rather have the garage space for another project instead of spending the extra time to fine-tune the little things that need attention. It's a great weekend runabout and is very comfortable around town.

Several mechanical modifications have been done to make it more driveable (some of the stock parts are included if you wish to return it to 100% stock). It has an HEI ignition (Davis Unified), a Weber 38/38 carburetor with electric choke, livewire ignition wires, and ugraded radial tires (BFGoodrich 33X9.50R15). The factory Asin carburetor is included in the sale. I don't have the factory distributor.

The exterior is in good shape, completely uncut body. It has a decent paint job in factory Dune Beige. It was painted at some point before I purchased it and could stand to be cut and buffed but looks good as-is (solid 10-footer). The front-end has an HFS shackled winch bumper. The factory painted hood latches have been swapped out for stainless. There are factory door mirrors but it also has a windshield hinge mount telescoping mirror that is not currently mounted (but included in the sale). The latch on the spare tire carrier is loose and needs to be adjusted or replaced. The only flaw in the body I can see are two small stress cracks at the upper corners of the doors where paint chipped off. The tires are like new (extremely hard to find BFG 33X9.50R15 -- I had to bring these in from out-of-state at considerable expense). The factory wheels were sent out and powdercoated when the new tires were installed. The wheel covers were replaced with new OEM parts. The front side marker lights don't work and the horn is missing. Glass is good but the windshield has some fogging around the edges from age (may be the original windshield). Wipers work well. The original license plate on the car is included.

Odometer works and indicates 14,175 miles (probably 114,175 miles).

It has a nice and tight motor (recent rings and valve guides) and the 3-speed transmission shifts smoothly. Like every FJ on the planet it drips some oil, but not aggregiously.The dif hasn't been apart but doesn't make any noises, so is assumed to be in good shape. It has a new clutch and it works very smoothly/easily. Fresh oil and filter change. It leaks coolant from somewhere under the right side of the radiator, so that will need attention/fixing. The engine bay is very sanitary and has been recently cleaned/painted. I don't think the air cleaner is correct for this year (if that bothers you), but it looks nice and has all the right factory decals, etc. Battery holds a charge nicely. The Weber 38/38 is new and runs extremely well and reliably (gotta love electric choke!), but it would benefit from some fine tuning (there's some run-on after the key is turned off, which is probably a mixture adjustment issue). It has a newer exhaust in great shape. The e-brake needs to be adjusted. The brakes work great and the suspension tracks well down the road.

The interior has a nice split-bench front seat and rear jump seats, both in good shape. Dash pad has been recovered at some point in history and has some minor delamination at the edge. Rubber floor covering is in good shape throughout. Both windows work great. The turn signal stalk is sticky and will need to be removed/fixed. All gauges work except the temp gauge. The headliner is in terrible shape and should be replaced. The driver's seat slides well on factory rails and folds up to reveal a locking compartment (pretty neat factory feature).

Like most FJ's there is some rust, but nothing structural from what I can see and nothing visible from the outside (this is a northwest car -- no salt on the roads). It's most noticeable around the interior bottoms of the doors and around the interior bottom of the hard top and in some areas on top of the rear wheel wells. The rear floor and sills look solid, the passenger side floorboard looks like surface rust, but the driver's floorboard has some pretty good corrosion. Frame looks okay. Check out the pics or come by in person if you are concerned about it (I was never greatly concerned about it because it's a driver quality rig that I didn't pay show-quality prices for and won't expect to sell it for show-car prices...).

I have a clean Washington State title in my name ready to transfer to the new owner. If you're out of state and arrange shipping (at your cost) I will accomodate getting it picked up. This will be a fun rig for the next owner -- if you're interested please don't hesistate to ask questions.

Yeah, we saw the new Ram 1500, Chevy Silverado and Ford Ranger, but that's just scratching the surface. J.D. Power study identifies top seats for your tush

File under News your fanny can use: The seating systems in the Ford Escape and Edge, the Audi A3, Chevrolet Cruze, Kia Cadenza, Porsche Cayenne and Toyota Tundra received top marks in a new J.D. Power study on seating and seat belt quality and satisfaction. The J.D. Power 2017 Seat Quality and Satisfaction Study asked more than 77,000 new owners and lessees of 2017 model-year cars and light trucks to rate their vehicle's seats and seat belts within the first 90 days of taking ownership. The survey is broken up into seven vehicle segments and scored on total seat problems per 100 within each segment, with awards presented to the seating system supplier. Canadian auto supplier Magna won three of seven first-place awards for its seating systems in the A3, Escape and Edge. Ireland-based Adient got top marks for its seats in the Cadenza and Cayenne. Lear Corp. won for the Cruze, and Avanzar Interior Technologies scored highest for seats in the Tundra. J.D. Power says its study is intended for automakers and suppliers with quality and satisfaction information to be used in developing and marketing seating systems. "But the results are just as interesting to a consumer audience," the company says. "After all, some drivers spend a considerable amount of time behind the wheel, and it's helpful to know which vehicles offer the most comfortable seats for those long commutes." Ain't that the truth. Ford was the only automaker whose seat systems, both manufactured by Magna, received top honors in two segments: the Escape for mass-market compact SUV and the Edge for mass-market midsize/large SUV. J.D. Power says it used 22 attributes to measure seat quality, three measures of seat belt quality and 12 to measure satisfaction. Awards were presented to the seating suppliers. 2019 Nissan Altima vs Honda Accord vs Toyota Camry: How they compare

NEW YORK — Midsize family sedans may be losing sales to small SUVs, but hundreds of thousands of the things still left dealerships last year. The 2019 Nissan Altima introduced here at the New York Auto Show replaces one of the segment's best sellers, joining a pair of other best-sellers, the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry, which were both redesigned last year. The Hyundai Sonata also received a surprisingly thorough refresh for 2018. Therefore, the segment is fresher than ever, providing car shoppers who haven't been evangelized by the mighty SUV an excellent group of choices. To help them, or you, out in that family sedan search, here's how the new 2019 Altima compares to the 2018 Honda Accord, 2018 Toyota Camry, 2018 Hyundai Sonata, and for reference, its 2018 Altima predecessor. Cue the spreadsheet! Engines and Transmissions The Altima once again has a 2.5-liter four-cylinder, but Nissan indicates that 80 percent of it is new. Regardless of its newness, it is more powerful, boasting an extra 9 hp and 3 lb-ft of torque. Frankly, that's not much compared to the Camry's and Accord's gains, which also better the new Altima. Uniquely, though, the Altima's base 2.5-liter is available with all-wheel drive Â– something only the Subaru Legacy offers (albeit as standard equipment). Oddly, all-wheel drive is NOT available with the Altima's bigger 2.0-liter turbo. Ah yes, that turbo engine. Gone is the familiar 3.5-liter V6, leaving Toyota as the lone V6 hold-out (again, the Legacy is another exception, albeit with a flat-6). As is typical, the Altima's new 2.0-liter turbo inline-4 produces less horsepower than its naturally aspirated predecessor, but it has considerably more torque. Its output essentially matches the Accord's new 2.0-liter. Unlike the Accord, though, every Altima has a CVT standard. The Camry and Sonata have traditional automatics Â– many would say they are better for it Â– though the Hyundai's gear count differs by engine selection. Nissan didn't release fuel economy figures for the 2019 Altima. The previous generation trailed the latest Accord and Camry by 2-3 mpg combined, according to EPA estimates. Passenger Space Nissan's surly men in suits were quite cross when we tried to get into the new Altima, so we can only comment on the interior space in spec format. As it is, the new Altima actually has less head- and legroom than before. There's more shoulder room, though, so your local linebacker will be happy.
