Up for grabs is this 1990 Toyota Land Cruiser, which features fresh paint, many new parts, and extensive mechanical repairs already done!  Last year of the iconic FJ62/60 series, this is destined to become a classic collector vehicle.  This is a super clean example in one of Toyota's best color combos!

In addition to the new paint, this FJ62 also features brand new BF Goodrich Rugged Terrain tires (less than 150 miles!), just charged AC, a tune-up in the last week, a new fuel filter, new catalytic converter, fresh brake service (with warranty), the front axle has been serviced, replaced brake booster, new master cylinder, and more!  The oil has been changed, the windshield is brand new, the wheels just got an alignment, a new blower motor installed, and this Cruiser is ready to go!

Inside, the driver's seat does have the typical Land Cruiser tear, but the dash is crack-free, and there is an Alpine premium radio (I can include a stock radio if desired).  There is even the owner's manual and the original Toyota key included with the truck!  All electricals (lights, turn signals, wipers front and rear, windows, and locks work) except for the power antenna.  The headliner is virtually intact except for two areas of tape residue, but there are no tears.

Body has been repainted and there is no rust, there are a few dents present.  Chassis has some minor surface rust, nothing atypical.

I purchased this Land Cruiser in Mississippi, and it features a clean Mississippi title AND also a clean CarFax (I can email the report if needed).  This Land Cruiser needs little to be be close to perfect, and it would be an excellent daily driver.  Starts and drives easily, and it has already passed Nashville's emissions test.

Serious buyers can contact me with any/all questions, and I will accommodate third party inspections.  I would be happy to pass along the number of my mechanic to any SERIOUS parties.  I can also take additional pictures and pass along, no additional pictures will be posted to this listing.

I am a dealer located in Nashville, TN, and my focus is Land Cruisers and other vintage SUV's (I do have several other FJ60/62s available, please contact me if interested).  My cell phone is 615-300-6004, please feel free to call or text any additional questions.  I can also ship nationally, please include your zip code when asking about shipping costs.  Vehicle will not be released until all funds clear; title will be sent separately from vehicle.

I am willing to entertain offers to end the auction early, please contact me to discuss.  Please bid often and bid to win BUT please make sure that all necessary funds are in-place BEFORE bidding (and check with your wife/husband/spouse/children/pet/etc before committing to buy).  I do take credit cards.  Non-paying bidders will be fully prosecuted.

This Land Cruiser will be sold with a thirty day TN temporary tag, and I will collect applicable Tennessee taxes (plus doc fee of $199).  This vehicle is also listed for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time.

Again, please feel free to call me on 615-300-6004 if you have any questions.

Thanks!

Evo pits Toyota GT86 vs. Mazda MX-5 Miata

Tue, Sep 8 2015

The latest Deadly Rivals episode from Evo gets the Mazda MX-5 Miata and Toyota GT86 (our Scion FR-S) on track for a shakedown and a whole lot of drifting with Dan Prosser behind the wheel. The UK-spec coupes have slightly different power ratings than ours, but it's all close enough to be comparable. Their Miata has 158 horsepower (ours has 155), 148 pound-feet of torque, takes 7.3 seconds to run from naught to 60 62, and costs 22,695 pounds. The GT86, on the other hand, lists a 7.6-second dash to 60 62, and a base price of 25,000 pounds. The GT86 also weighs 400 pounds more than the Mazda. That's true in the States, too – curb weight for our MX-5 is 2,332 pounds, whereas the Scion FR-S comes in at 2,758 pounds. Both cars lauded for excellent shifting, but one of them has a better front end, a sweeter engine note, more controllable cornering behavior, and is faster by a tenth of a second around the test track. And Prosser doesn't mention it, but one has a lot more body roll. But it takes more than all that to make a winner, so check out the video above to see which is which. Toyota MR2 shows why we still love the 1990s

Wed, 27 Nov 2013

Was there a better time for Japanese performance than the 1980s and 1990s? It seems like looking back, Japan was on a roll, producing cars that were affordable, economical, reliable, fast and lightweight. And while all the attention is - thanks to a certain film series - focused on cars like Toyota Supra and Mazda RX-7, there is a lesser-known model that's establishing its own enduring legacy without the help of Paul Walker and Vin Diesel.
The MR2, affectionately known as the "Mister Two" to fanboys, first arrived in 1984 as a lightweight, mid-engined sports car that proceeded to eat the lunch of the Pontiac Fiero in terms of performance. That car was replaced in 1989 with the more familiar, rounded-out MR2, which is the subject of this latest video from the team at Petrolicious.
The video takes a look at a group of MR2 drivers, and attempts to explain what it is about the car that is destined to make it a future classic. Scroll down to see Petrolicious examine the MR2 Connection.

New Toyota Tacoma, Ranger, Colorado/Canyon fight for midsize truck dominance

Sun, May 28 2023

Sam Wedll has been driving his Toyota Tacoma pickup on the rugged roads of Northern California for seven trouble-free years, racking up almost 100,000 miles, so he’s interested in the redesigned version of the truck coming later this year. He paid $34,000 for his truck in 2016, loading it with plenty of options. HeÂ’s eyeing the new gas-electric hybrid Toyota Motor Corp. is going to offer, but Wedll, who does his own repairs, isnÂ’t interested in paying luxury prices. “The hybrid is pretty interesting to me because I like the idea of the fuel efficiency,” says Wedll, 47, a casino operations manager in Blue Lake, California. “IÂ’m just trying to save some costs wherever possible.” The Tacoma, known as the Taco to its legions of loyalists, is the leader of the pack in midsize pickups, one of the fastest-growing auto markets of the past decade. With outdoorsy weekend warriors and do-it-yourselfers looking for a truck that could fit in their garage, sales of midsize pickups more than doubled from 2010 to 2020. General Motors Co. and Ford Motor Co., which abandoned the market segment when sales slowed early this century, returned with new trucks to take on the Tacoma, which has dominated the medium truck market for almost two decades. Although it's easy to predict that the most lushly appointed versions of the new Taco could approach $50,000 (prices wonÂ’t be announced until later this year), Toyota insists it isnÂ’t backing away from budget buyers even as it rolls out fancier trucks. The current Tacoma starts at $28,030, and the company says affordability is critical to its success. In fact, Toyota will continue to offer the Taco with an old-school stick shift. The Tacoma controls 42% of the midsize truck market and outsells FordÂ’s offering 4 to 1. ThatÂ’s a role reversal from the full-size pickup market, where FordÂ’s F-Series has ruled the road for 46 years. Tacoma sales in the U.S. surpassed 237,000 last year, more than twice the number of GMÂ’s No. 2-ranked Chevrolet Colorado, according to consultant LMC Automotive. But as growth in the overall segment slows, the midsize market is developing into more of a turf war, with manufacturers vying for the sweetest highest-margin spots. “This segment is likely past its prime growth spurt,” says Jeff Schuster, president of the Americas for LMC Automotive.
