For sale is this rare 1979 Toyota Land Cruiser BJ40 Diesel. It was imported from the country of Costa Rica and has
a clean Oregon title where it is located. This BJ40 is a gem; it’s almost impossible to find Diesel cruisers in
this condition and so well preserved. This is an "original condition" vehicle, not a restoration or re-build, which
is even more rare. Original body, metal, motor, steering, brakes, head-liner etc. The paint and seat-door coverings
were new in 2009, but you can see in photos/video top quality.
It was purchased new in 1979 and kept in a garage, only taken out for pleasure cruising and trips around town.
Which such light use, it has 78,000 original kilometers (64,000 Miles). This BJ40 has absolutely no rust or other
signs of deterioration of the body, which is common in these vehicles in any climate. What you see in the photos
and video, is what you see in-person with this vehicle.
The B Diesel motor is known to be a workhorse and nearly indestructible, with fuel-economy of over 20 miles per
gallon. The BJ40 is a manual 4-speed with original steering. The vehicle shifts smoothly and travels straight with
great power. The 4-cylinder motor is made for low end torque climbing and cruising of 45-50 mph. A pioneer stereo
with CD player and new speakers were installed.
It was carefully maintained, up until the day of sale by the original owner. Our trusted mechanic, with years of
experience with these vehicles, did a complete inspection and found a few routine items common in a 37 year-old
vehicle. The following maintenance was done in 2016:
Cleaned motor and injection system and replaced injection heads
Reviewed and changed Glow Plugs
Changed oil and all filters
New belts
Revision and change of rubber seals
Changed primary pump on the clutch and adjusted
New radiator
Cleaning and adjustment of brakes, replaced brake fluid
New battery
Painted top, rack and ladder
Paint was re-done in 2009 in Carnival Red (T-335), inside and out. The paint is clean and professionally done. We
re-painted the vehicle top, rack and ladder in original white. This is a vehicle that doesn’t come along very
often. On June 18th, we entered into the Seaside, Oregon Car Show and won the "Founders Award". If you have been
waiting to find that near perfect Diesel Land Cruiser, then your wait is over!

Toyota C-HR hybrid crossover coupe concept leak ahead of Paris
Sun, 21 Sep 2014Last week, Toyota previewed an upcoming concept called the C-HR and promised it would debut at the upcoming Paris Motor Show. It didn't say much more or give us anything beyond a silhouette and the shape of the lights, but here we have the first images of the finalized form.
The C-HR envisions a hybrid crossover coupe with angular styling that looks ready to take on the Nissan Juke. It's far sportier than a RAV4, and looks closer to how we'd imagine the next-generation Scion FR-S would look like if it were riding on a jacked-up suspension - with some show car elements thrown in for good measure, like a gloating roof, radical lighting and the usual absence of door handles and usable wing mirrors.
Of course, this being a Toyota concept, it packs a hybrid powertrain, although specifications did not leak out along with the images. Overall the form looks pretty striking, if decidedly unsubtle. We'll look forward to bringing you more as the Paris show rapidly approaches.
2021 Hyundai Elantra vs. compact sedans | How they compare on paper
Wed, Mar 18 2020Despite the rising popularity of crossovers, the sedan market remains packed and fiercely competitive. It looks like it will stay that way with the introduction of the strikingly redesigned 2021 Hyundai Elantra. And since Hyundai was kind enough to provide plenty of specifications on the new car, we figured we ought to see how it stacks up to some of the latest and greatest small sedans on the market. For this comparison we picked the two best-sellers, the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla, one of the other recently redesigned sedans, the Nissan Sentra, and a perennial enthusiast favorite, the Mazda3. Below you'll find a chart with all the raw numbers for your perusal. Following that will be our usual break down and analysis of the numbers and any other noteworthy features not included in the chart. Performance and Fuel Economy While the design and chassis are all-new on the Elantra, the base powertrain isn't. It uses a version of the naturally aspirated 2.0-liter four-cylinder shared throughout the Hyundai and Kia line-ups, and it's again paired with a CVT. With 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque, it's the second least powerful entry for conventionally-powered sedans, only ahead of the sluggish 1.8-liter base engine in the Toyota Corolla. For those looking for a peppy small sedan, the Mazda3's naturally aspirated 2.5-liter has the most power and torque, even ahead of the turbocharged Honda Civic's 174 ponies. On the other hand, the Elantra, which Hyundai says will have better fuel economy than the outgoing model, should get at least 36 mpg combined, and probably better, making it the most efficient non-hybrid of this group. For the best blend of power and efficiency, the Civic is likely the way to go, as its turbo engine can return 36 mpg combined in lower trims. If you want a manual transmission in this body shape, only the Civic and Corolla offer it. A manual transmission is available on the Mazda3 hatchback, and the turbo Civic can also be had with a manual in hatchback or Si forms. A new powertrain for the Elantra is the hybrid. It's unique compared to other hybrids in that it's coupled to a six-speed dual-clutch transmission, rather than an electronically controlled CVT (which is not the same thing as a CVT) or something too complicated to describe in this sentence (the Honda Insight).
Toyota confirms 2016 Tacoma for Detroit
Wed, Dec 10 2014A week on from an announcement by Toyota's Bob Carter, the Japanese marque has formally announced that the 2016 Toyota Tacoma will make its global debut next month at the 2015 North American International Auto Show. Not only that, but the company has given us a very minute (and very muddy) teaser image, showing the truck's tailgate and driver's side taillight. Like its big brother, the Tundra, the 2016 Tacoma will feature its name embossed on its tailgate. Beyond that, though, there's really not much to be gleaned from this sole teaser shot. Of course, we'll have much, much more on the next-generation Taco when it arrives in a month's time. Until then, check out Toyota's hilariously brief and to-the-point press release, available below. Tacoma. Detroit. January 12. It's on. December 10, 2014 Toyota's rolling out the all-new 2016 Tacoma at the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit on Jan. 12.
