1977 FJ40 that runs great. Driven daily, mileage will go up slightly during this auction.

Bought in January as a project from a local farm. Since then I have replaced or repaired the following items to make it reliable. It has never left me stranded.

-Electronic ignition from Davis Unified Ignition (D.U.I)

-Starter (rebuilt unit with 1 yr warranty)

-Rebuilt wiper motor

-New tail lights

-New headlights

-New clutch master cylinder

-New clutch slave cylinder

-New brake master cylinder

-New brake calipers and pads

-New thermostat

-Recored radiator

-New hoses

-New rag joint (steering coupler, went with a rubber unit)

-New ignition switch

Lap belts added to replace seat belts.

Power steering added long ago.

Locker in rear axle.

Tub was removed from frame and frame was coated about 5 years ago. Rock solid frame. Body has surface rust underneath and some body work on the driver's side. Tub is not set up for ambulance doors, but top can accept ambulance doors. Hatch and tail gate are bolted in, but hinges for hatch are included (they are painted in the color of the FJ).

Paint is a 7/10, it's a Maaco paint job. I did not have the rust patched or hidden, I wanted the next owner to know what this FJ had in terms of rust. It's minor: front of hood and bottom of headlight bib. I do have the paint code available, as well as a small amount of the paint used to paint the FJ.

Spare parts included: supports for the side step on the driver's side, original headliner, some bolts and screws, and a few miscellaneous used parts like a starter, the original non power steering box, etc...

Inspections are welcome at any time. I have the Cruiser for sale locally and can end the auction at anytime. I absolutely love this thing but I lack the time to finish it completely. Clear Kentucky title in my name.

I will assist with shipping to the best of my abilities. International shipping is fine, I can recommend a number of great car shippers.

Quick disclaimer: sold as-is, where-is. Sale is final and flakes will be reported to Ebay.

2014 Toyota Corolla coming Thursday, now with LED headlamps

Tue, 04 Jun 2013

Here's what we know about the redesigned 2014 Toyota Corolla: It will have "aggressive new styling" with "available seventeen-inch alloy wheels" an "available touch screen audio" system and "available LED headlights."
We know all of this because Toyota has seen fit to release a small assortment of teaser images of the 2014 Corolla, with those descriptions attached. The latest to hit the web shows LED lighting clusters, which, to Toyota's credit, don't appear to merely mimic designs already seen in the automotive world.
We should point out that the headlights do share a link to the units seen on the Furia Concept that was supposed to foreshadow the next Corolla, though the most interesting bits - namely the honeycomb inner pattern - have been chucked while the somewhat trapezoidal main units remain intact.

2014 Toyota Aygo is so cross with itself

Mon, 03 Mar 2014

It almost made it, but images of the redesigned Toyota Aygo have leaked ahead of its official debut at tomorrow's Geneva Motor Show. The new Aygo sports an aggressive look overall with a, um, mark on its face.
That distinguishing design feature aside, we quite like the angular headlights and muscular overall look of this little city car. The gaping trapezoidal air intake make the Aygo look more substantial, while swollen rear wheel arches hint at something sportier than your standard commuter device.
Sportiness, though, isn't likely to be a big part of the Aygo. As it's built on the same platform as the Citroën C1 and Peugeot 108, we should expect the same pair of gas-powered engines, which means at best, the Toyota will come to market with 82 horsepower under hood.

Sporty cars from the '80s get retro reviews from MotorWeek

Tue, Mar 10 2015

The more things change, the more they stay the same. That's the feeling we're left with after watching the retro-review video above, in which MotorWeek – television's original automotive magazine, as if you didn't already know – takes a look at the 1984 Honda Prelude. A sporty coupe from Japan that lacks the outright performance and thrust of comparable American and European competitors, but makes any perceived slight up with unarguably supreme driving dynamics? That sounds sort of familiar, doesn't it? As always, we love taking a look back at the early days of MotorWeek (the more things change, they more they stay the same, remember?). And it doesn't end there. Far from it, in fact. Not only did MotorWeek bestow upon us the Prelude, Maryland's favorite public television show also unleashed retro reviews of (deep breath) the '82 Fiat X1/9, '84 Olds Cutlass, '88 Lotus Esprit Turbo, '84 Nissan 200SX Turbo, '88 Subaru XT6, '88 Toyota Celica All Trac, '84 Ford EXP Turbo, '89 Suzuki Swift GTi and '89 Mazda 323 GTX. Watch them all, up above and down below. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. This content is hosted by a third party.
