1976 Toyota Land Cruiser Base Sport Utility 2-door 4.2l on 2040-cars
Dunn, North Carolina, United States
This Landcruiser FJ-40 is a 1976. We purchased it 2000 at an auction and it was in terrible condition. We fixed it and rebuilt the entire thing and it was the vehicle I drove through out the four years of high school. It was the last year that still carried the round grill around the headlights. It also featured the ambulance doors and dual kick vents on both Driver and Passenger sides. I have the fold up frames for the back seats but never got them upholstered. All the windows are original and it has the original 2F straight six engine. The engine was rebuilt and bored 30 over to ensure there was no damage to the cylinder casings. This vehicle also has the original 4 speed plus reverse on the floor manual transmission and transfer case. The aftermarket waterproof carpeting has been installed as well and the headliner has been reupholstered. The mileage on the dash displays 73984, however the engine has less than 25,000 miles since rebuilt and there is no telling how many times that display has reset through out the history of the vehicle. We recently cranked the vehicle with a temporary external gas tank and it runs like new. We even drove it around and everything checks out. 2015 Toyota Yaris
Thu, 25 Sep 2014Advertising firms have done an admirable job convincing consumers that the easiest way to find a best-in-segment car or truck is by looking at a few key metrics. In the most elementary terms, the vehicle with the highest horsepower, most gears in its transmission housing, lowest acceleration times and best fuel economy most certainly must be the class benchmark.
Yet as the commercials and billboards continue to drive that deceitful message, Toyota is betting shoppers in the subcompact segment are a bit more discerning. The Japanese automaker has just launched its updated 2015 Yaris, a three- and five-door offering that bucks the innovation and performance trends by offering what Toyota feels that entry-level buyers actually desire - reliability, practicality and a low sticker price.
It's sweltering in the tropical Hawaiian sun as I check out the deeply refreshed 2015 Yaris SE. This five-door hatchback, a range-topping version of the company's subcompact "sporty hatch" (Toyota's words, not mine), builds on the new-in-2012 generation by wearing new front and rear fascias, redesigned headlights and some attractive new wheels for the upcoming model year.
Toyota hits 10 million Camry models sold in US
Tue, 02 Jul 2013This year marks 30 years of sales for the Toyota Camry in the US, and in that time, it has amassed more than 10 million sales. In its first year on the market, the Camry sold 52,651 units, but it has gone on to become the best-selling car in the US for the last 11 years.
Toyota says that "virtually all" current Camry models sold in the US are made here, and three-quarters of all Camry contents are domestically sourced. Scroll down for the official press release from Toyota, and be sure to check out our gallery of images showing every model year and bodystyle of the Camry since it first went on sale in 1983.
Buy a Toyota GT86 and your wife will hate you
Wed, 14 Nov 2012Marketing can be a very strange business. Convincing a man or woman (or child, really) that they absolutely cannot live without the latest, greatest new bit of technology oftentimes takes a unique approach. In the "online film promoting the Toyota GT86" you'll see below, created by agency Happiness Brussels, men are reverse-psychologied into thinking a new sports coupe will make them more masculine by getting their loved ones to hate them. Or something like that. We think.
In any case, we suggest you watch the video below to see how much fun men can have with a GT86 - or Scion FR-S or Subaru BRZ, presumably - at the expense of their significant others. Fair warning: There's a potential Not Safe For Work moment in the ad: beware of a brief male butt shot about 44 seconds in.
Marketing. Gotta love it. Unless you're married to a man. Or something like that. We think. Whatever, just watch.
