I am selling a 1976 Toyota fj40 that is in great shape and runs very good.  It has the original Toyota Cygnus White paint and the inside bed and front floor boards have been lined to protect them.  Those are the areas that rust the must and this FJ has no rust in those areas.  It has the FJ engine that runs great.  I have just tuned it up with a fresh oil and filter, new spark plugs and wires, a new distributor, a new battery, new radiator with all new hoses, a new alternator, a new fuel filter and a new air filter.  This FJ is not for from being a $20k Landcruiser.  I have started to remove the weather stripping from all the doors.  I have new ones, but I am not going to put them on, as the new owner may or may not to want to paint the FJ.  The outside is all complete and very little rust for how old she is.  The previous owner put a metal covering over the rear quarter panels.  There are no jump seats and the previous owner covered the front original with covers.  I have removed the headliner, so a new one could be put in place pretty easy.  Couple different options from the few suppliers out there like Cool Cruisers right here in Texas.

This FJ is in great overall condition, but it is not a showroom condition. With a few upgrades this FJ will continue to rise in value.  Please let me know if you have any questions.  Your are welcome to preview the FJ.  The FJ is being sold as is and does not have any type of warranty.  I do not need help selling this FJ, scammers will be reported and low ballers will not get a response.  A $2,000 deposited is due within 24 hours after the auction and remaining balance is due within three days.  Please make sure you have the funds if your going to bid.  I do NOT accept paypal as there have been issues with it, so wire or cash preferred.
Thanks

Toyota launches new Passo hatchback in Japan [w/video]

Fri, 18 Apr 2014

With considerable manufacturing capacity here in the United States and even a NASCAR program, it'd be all too easy to categorize Toyota as an American automaker. Only it's not. It's Japanese, of course. And back in the Japanese Domestic Market, it offers a whole range of models we'll never see in North America. Models like the Crown sedan, Noah minivan and this, the new Passo hatchback.
Sold in various markets as the Daihatsu Boon, Daihatsu Sirion, Perodua Myvi and (for a time) the Subaru Justy, the Toyota Passo is a compact hatchback that slots in size-wise between the Yaris sold in America and the Aygo offered in Europe (except the Passo is taller than either).
Power comes from a 1.0-liter engine with 69 horsepower that can be had in front- or all-wheel drive, or a 1.3 driving 95 horses to the front wheels alone. A continuously variable transmission is on duty regardless of engine choice. Front-drive models get a stop/start system, but even all-wheel-drive versions are eligible for government tax credits. That's because, though the new Passo only appears to be mildly updated, the engines have been thoroughly reworked to deliver 30-percent better fuel economy than the previous model, coming in 20-percent better than the standards being enacted by the Japanese government for next year.

Toyota launches Pixis Space; first kei cars are Daihatsus in drag

Fri, 09 Sep 2011

Toyota has announced that it will unveil its first-ever kei car to be sold under its recently launched Pixis sub-brand. The vehicle, called the Pixis Space, will make its official debut in late September. Based on the Daihatsu Move Conte, the Pixis Space will be sold at Toyota dealerships through what the automakers calls "Pixis stations." Yes, seriously.
After Toyota's version of the Daihatsu Move Conte makes its debut, the Japanese automaker will launch a Pixis-badged Daihatsu Hijet truck and microvan in December. By the end of 2012, Toyota says it will launch a Pixis version of the upcoming Daihatsu e:S - a vehicle that returns 70.6 miles per gallon (U.S.) as measured under Japan's JC08 test cycle.
In case you weren't aware, Daihatsu - Japan's oldest manufacturer of automobiles - operates under the control of Toyota. In other words, these Pixis machines are simply badge engineering at the kei level.

Automakers not currently promoting EVs are probably doomed

Mon, Feb 22 2016

Okay, let's be honest. The sky isn't falling – gas prices are. In fact, some experts say that prices at the pump will remain depressed for the next decade. Consumers have flocked to SUVs and CUVs, reversing the upward trend in US fuel economy seen over the last several years. A sudden push into electric vehicles seems ridiculous when gas guzzlers are selling so well. Make hay while the sun shines, right? A quick glance at some facts and figures provides evidence that the automakers currently doubling down on internal combustion probably have some rocky years ahead of them. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is a prime example of a volume manufacturer devoted to incremental gains for existing powertrains. Though FCA will kill off some of its more fuel-efficient models, part of its business plan involves replacing four- and five-speed transmissions with eight- and nine-speed units, yielding a fuel efficiency boost in the vicinity of ten percent over the next few years. Recent developments by battery startups have led some to suggest that efficiency and capacity could increase by over 100 percent in the same time. Research and development budgets paint a grim picture for old guard companies like Fiat Chrysler: In 2014, FCA spent about $1,026 per car sold on R&D, compared with about $24,783 per car sold for Tesla. To be fair, FCA can't be expected to match Tesla's efforts when its entry-level cars list for little more than half that much. But even more so than R&D, the area in which newcomers like Tesla have the industry licked is infrastructure. We often forget that our vehicles are mostly useless metal boxes without access to the network of fueling stations that keep them rolling. While EVs can always be plugged in at home, their proliferation depends on a similar network of charging stations that can allow for prolonged travel. Tesla already has 597 of its 480-volt Superchargers installed worldwide, and that figure will continue to rise. Porsche has also proposed a new 800-volt "Turbo Charging Station" to support the production version of its Mission E concept, and perhaps other VW Auto Group vehicles. As EVs grow in popularity, investment in these proprietary networks will pay off — who would buy a Chevy if the gas stations served only Ford owners? If anyone missed the importance of infrastructure, it's Toyota.
