Up for grabs is this 1974 Toyota Land Cruiser (or Landcruiser) FJ40!  This FJ is in great mechanical shape, and the 2F engine just got a full tune-up, a new fuel filter, and an oil change.  I have been using this FJ as a daily driver, and it starts very easily and cruises on both city streets and at highway speeds easily (up to 65 mph).  It is easily to start, and all gauges function except for the oil pressure gauge (oil pressure has been checked and is in-line with normal operating ranges).   A recently completed compression test shows all cylinders to be +/-10 psi of 150 psi.  In addition to the tune-up, the FJ also has new wheel cylinders and new brakes at all four corners, as well as a new master cylinder.

This FJ also features four nearly new Nexen 31" tires with plenty of tread, the original spare wheel is included and mount.  The hard top appears to be original.  All wipers, brake lights, and turn signals are operational, but it does not have a radio currently.  Both jump seats are present!  Original headliner also appears to be present, and it is sagging in several areas, this does not affect vision or driveability and can be easily removed.

Tow hitch also!  As an added bonus, it has a large Warn winch mounted on the front of the vehicle, I have not personally tested this winch but it appears to have all parts present.  Front bumper appears to be custom made, and features old cases mounted on both sides.  Bumperettes in rear appear to be original.

If you have any questions, or if you need any additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me on 615-300-6004 (call or text), or email me through eBay.

Yes, there is some rust present on the body, which is why I am not asking $50,000+ for this FJ40.  This Land Cruiser has been repainted in a sky blue hue, and looking at the door jambs, it appears that it was originally sky blue.  The paint is not perfect.  Yes, this FJ has rust, this may not be the best choice of vehicle for you.  However, if you want an affordable FJ40 that starts easily, is fun to drive and one that attracts A LOT of attention, this may be the FJ you have been looking for!   FJ40's are sky-rocketing in value, and this would be an excellent truck to keep, especially if you want to rescue Jeeps!

Please do not bid if you are not serious; bids are legally binding and non-paying bidders will be fully prosecuted.

For any serious buyer, I am happy to provide the name and number of my mechanic who performed the tune-up and inspection.

We do take trade-ins, please contact me directly for details.

I will end the auction early for a reasonable offer, but please do not contact me asking what the reserve is (it is set very low), or what my "bottom dollar" would be.

We accept the following forms of payment: Cash, Personal Check, Wire Transfer (small fee applies), or Credit/Debit Cards (3% swipe fee applies).  We do charge a $199 doc fee, a .03% City of Nashville tax, and $25 to send the title to you via FedEx.  This FJ40 does have a clean/clear title in my possession, and I will only release the title after all funds are received.  We will wait seven (7) days for funds to clear if paying by personal check.

I ship vehicles frequently, both nationally and internationally, and I can have this FJ40 delivered to your door for less than you might think.  In order to get the most accurate shipping quote, please send me your zip code for a ballpark estimate.  The FJ will be made available for shipping only after all funds have been received.

Again, please ask any and all questions BEFORE the end of the auction, my direct cell phone number is 615-300-6004.

Thanks!

Alonso can do full WEC season after date changed to avoid F1 race

Mon, Feb 12 2018

McLaren Formula One driver Fernando Alonso can compete for Toyota in every round of the World Endurance Championship this season after organizers moved the Japanese event to avoid a U.S. Grand Prix clash. They announced at a presentation in Paris on Friday that the Six Hours of Fuji had been brought forward to Oct. 14, ensuring that the Spaniard can feature for Toyota at the manufacturer's home track. Alonso wants to win the Le Mans 24 Hours endurance race in France as part of the "triple crown of motorsport" achieved only by the late Briton Graham Hill. Hill, like Alonso a two-times Formula One world champion, won Le Mans, the Monaco Grand Prix and the Indianapolis 500 in the 1960s and early 1970s. Toyota announced last month that Alonso, whose main focus remains Formula One, would be racing all the rounds of the endurance season that did not clash with his McLaren commitments. The Fuji race had originally been pushed back a week to Oct. 21 to avoid a clash with the IMSA Petit Le Mans round at Road Atlanta in the United States. The eight round 2018-19 WEC "super season" includes two editions of Le Mans as a move towards a championship that will start in the European summer and end with the French endurance classic. The top LMP1 category will have 10 cars, with Toyota the only factory team following the departure of reigning champions Porsche. Alonso will share a car with Switzerland's Sebastien Buemi and Japanese Kazuki Nakajima, both former F1 drivers. Reporting by Alan Baldwin Related Video:

Toyota has 200 orders for 2016 Mirai hydrogen fuel cell car

Mon, Dec 1 2014

Toyota built 500 Lexus LFA supercars between 2010 and 2012 in what Automotive News has called a "secretive workshop." The automaker has been wondering what to do with that production line since the last LFA rolled off in December 2012 and, like so much else for Toyota these days, the answer is a hydrogen car – and in about the same small numbers. The 200 Mirai orders are "mostly from government and corporate fleets." – Masamoto Maekawa The 2016 Mirai fuel cell vehicle will go into production later this month at the old LFA workshop, which is located behind Toyota's Motomachi assembly plant in Toyota City. The skilled workers there have been doing other things (like building bicycles) since the last LFA was finished and now Automotive News says they will hand-build the Mirai so that the car can get the attention to detail Toyota wants and because there won't be that many of the hydrogen cars made for a while. Toyota has already said it will sell only 3,000 Mirai FCVs in the US by the end of 2017 (it won't arrive here until late 2015, with deliveries in Japan starting earlier). With 200 orders already in and a plan to build only 700 in 2015, Toyota is already talking about delivery delays. Toyota's executive vice president for domestic sales, Masamoto Maekawa, said that, "the 200 orders are mostly from government and corporate fleets." Production could remain at LFA Works for a while. One Toyota exec said that even if the company makes 2,000 Mirais a year, that would still be only 10 each day. Doesn't sound like there's going to be anyone working weekends for a while.

Toyota FT-1 hints at Supra, more aggressive hybrids

Mon, Jan 13 2014

Toyota showed off the new FT-1 performance concept at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show today, and the obvious story angle is that this is the new Supra. That's enough weight for most concept cars to carry, but then we thought about it a bit more - FT-1 stands for "Future Toyota 1," after all - and re-read the hints Toyota is dropping about how the FT-1 fits into the company's future. Put all the pieces together, and we think there's a chance Toyota's hybrid models are about to get a whole lot cooler. Technically, the FT-1 is an EV, but that's just because all it has for a powetrain is a small battery and motor to move it around on stage. This concept doesn't even have a proposed powertrain, but a production Supra could have any number of powerplants under the hood (V6, V8, hybrid and inline-six are all mentioned by Automotive News). We also like the big red start button on the steering wheel, which owes at least a little to the blue start button in the Prius. What we're more interested here is what this sleek red beast could do for the look of Toyota's hybrids. The FT-1 could change how Toyota designs cars in the future. To make the FT-1, Akio Toyoda, the president and CEO of Toyota Motor Corporation, apparently challenged Toyota's Calty Design Research team to create a car with passion and "a palpable heart-pounding sense of excitement." Instead of making design decisions "by consensus among a large group of stakeholders," the company says "the [design] approval process has been streamlined. This new approach aims to produce cars that connect more deeply with customers." There was a sense in Detroit today that the FT-1 heralds a change in how the company designs cars in the future. The FT-1 is apparently not the result of Toyota's hybrid supercar partnership with BMW, but we know that Toyota isn't a total stranger to a high-performance hybrid category, having built the TS030 hybrid Le Mans race car. For an on-road gas-electric from the company, though, we're much more used to the egg-shaped Prius. While Toyota has backed off a 2003 pledge to make every model a hybrid, it has said that it wants gas-electrics powertrains to proliferate throughout the line-up. And, if the FT-1 previews a new Toyota look, then at least some of those hybrids will benefit from some of the good looks on display in Detroit.
