Selling my Baby with no reserve, high bid takes it unless it sells locally first. I'm loosing my garage storage and want to pass onto someone who can get out and wheel her. This FJ is a beast, but was my daily driver for 2 years. Built 396 Chevy Big Block mated with what I believe to be the prefect manual tranny for an FJ40, the 5speed H55F. Just the uninstalled transmission would set you back well over 3K. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- First the bad: basically just some minor body stuff. Has some minor bondo on both fenders (previous owner), little bit on the front of the hood and I think a bit under the gunmetal on the quarters(haven't ever pulled it off or looked to closely, but no one really puts on Gunmetal on an FJ40 if not addressing Cancer). Additionally the body is rattlecan black, over the legacy rattle can camo (PO) which is over the stock forest green after a little sand down. Basically the rig is fully built mechanically and doesn't need anything further on that aspect. It's meant to be driven and not a trailer queen, but that said it has a respectable body,72 had good thick steel, hardtop in good condition save for less than perfect seals on the back windows, and hard half doors and full doors (not yet painted to match). I can get pictures or answer questions. Additionally there is one mechanical issue that I drove on but will need addressing, the Ebrake is hydraulic and I believe a valve is sticking as at low speeds when your hard on the brakes the Ebrake has been wanting to stay on, cheap fix but don't have the time.. Below is an incomplete parts list. Truck has been stored in a garage for 3 years, was run every month for the first two, and has since been drained and sitting for the last year. I've relocated to the Midwest, and this won't get used to its full potential out there. Will probably need a quick carb clean and calibration, I had it fired up last Christmas, but the batteries were having some issues turning it over, and after sitting in storage for 3 years (last year without exercising it every month or two) it likely will need new batteries (dual setup). 72 Toyota Landcruiser FJ40, -396 Chevy Big Block motor. Truck is located in Boulder Colorado at my parents house, I'll be here till January 5th and it can assist with shipping. Please not I haven't gotten home to fire it up, this year. The fluids were swapped last year while in storage, however a little bit of gas likely remains to siphon out (drained the fuel last year when I was using it for the holidays). These are the 'Greenest' and 'Meanest' cars in 2015
Fri, Feb 6 2015As has become tradition, the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) has come up with a ranking of what it refers to as the "greenest" cars of 2015, and, by way of contrast, a list of the so-called "meanest" cars, so those who value eco-friendliness over all else can choose which vehicles they should or should not consider buying. As you may expect, electric cars make up the majority of the greenest cars on the list, but, perhaps surprisingly to many, the Tesla Model S didn't make the cut. It's worth noting, too, that where the electricity an owner uses to charge their electric vehicle has a big impact on its overall environmental impact. "A car that is charged using electricity generated from natural gas or renewables is going to have significantly less impact on the environment than one charged on a coal-heavy grid," says ACEEE lead vehicle analyst Shruti Vaidyanathan. The ACEEE's list for 2015 looks very different than it did in 2014. It's an interesting collection, though – and we're sure this goes without saying, really – we'd recommend doing a bit more research into each vehicle and how it might fit into your daily life before making any purchase decisions. Union to launch Toyota organization drive in Canada
Sun, 12 Jan 2014Toyota may be heading toward some labor issues in the Great White North, as employees at a pair of Canadian Toyota factories may be set for a certification vote. The Unifor union, which was the result of a merger last year between the Canadian Auto Workers and the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers union, will be holding the vote.
Over 40 percent of the employees at the Woodstock and Cambridge, Ontario factories have signed union cards, cresting the minimum percentage required to instigate a legal certification vote, according to Reuters. The Woodstock factory is responsible for RAV4 production, while Cambridge builds the Lexus RX350 and RX450h, as well as the Toyota Corolla. The two factories employ nearly 7,000 people.
It's unclear when the union will hold a certification vote at the two factories, but what is rather clear are the worker complaints. Employees are concerned about workers being hired on temporary contracts which lack the benefits of full employment, John Aman, head of organizing for Unifor, told Reuters.
We dialed a random Swede, talked about not driving Volvos
Fri, Apr 8 2016The Swedish Number is now a thing. It's a cool thing. You dial, a random Swede picks up, and you chat. Or, in my case, you dial and a random Brit living in Sweden for the past six year picks up and you chat. Since I was calling on behalf of Autoblog, when I got Martin from the small coastal town of Sundsvall, on the phone, we talked about cars, Volvos (natch), and cold-weather testing. Oh, and about plugging in his regular Toyota Prius. ABG: I was able to come to Sweden and test Volvos a month or so ago. Do you drive a Volvo? Martin: [laughs] No. I think Volvo is a fantastic car. It truly is an amazing car, but no. My girlfriend has a company car, so we drive a hybrid Toyota Prius. ABG: And how does that work in the cold winters? It obviously cuts down on the environmental problems. Martin: No problem at all. Because we have these cold winters, like you do get in the States as well, where we park our cars, we've got electricity posts where we can plug in the cars. Motor car engines have a heater, so you can have the heater going for some time before you get into the car. So it warms up the engine and there's a socket inside the car to warm up the inside of the car as well. It's very efficient. You just need to remember to set the timer when you climb out of the car and connect the cable. It obviously cuts down on the environmental problems as well because your car is already warm before you start them. ABG: I know that makes them overall more efficient, I just didn't know it could work with any car. It used to be you would keep the diesel engine blocks warm, but this works for pretty much any car in Sweden? Martin: Yes. Our temperatures here can vary. We do tend to get roundabout -18 to -25C [0 to -15F], where I live, sometimes. Normally, in the winter, we always plug the car in to make it more environmentally friendly, for starters, and then it's a nice warm car when you get in. The coldest I remember it getting here was -36 [-33F]. In the north of Sweden they've had, on record, -56 [-69F]. ABG: That's too cold. Martin: That is cold, yeah. Most countries, now, use the north of Sweden to test their cars because of the ice. Volvo S90 Prototype View 15 Photos ABG: That's actually why I came over there, to test out the new XC90s and S90s. Martin: Is that your job, then? ABG: I don't test the cars for the companies, but I test them for Autoblog. They'll invite us to test the vehicles so we can see for ourselves what the vehicles do in cold weather.
