Purchased in 2012 from original owner. I'm purchasing a new vehicle for my daughter who will be leaving for college in August. I got a couple trade quotes, but was not overly impressed and am not in a huge hurry. I've had good luck with EBAY buyers in the past so I thought I'd post it here as well as locally.  I've got all positive feedback, including various vehicles I've sold here over the years. I'm a psychologist and work 50-60 hours a week. I'm happy to respond to inquiries, but please inquire only if you are truly interested. I'm located in Central Louisiana and can pick up buyers from the airport if needed as long as we can work around my work schedule (AEX airport code).

This is a 4x2 model, so it will not be ideal for those who want serious off road capability. However, for those looking for a very, very nice FJ with low miles, this is a great vehicle.

Base model with new TRD wheels added in 2013 along with new tires. I added the additional rear speakers that did not come with the base stereo. I also purchased a nice added "box" for the rear cargo area. Easy to install and remove and adds some much needed additional organized storage. There are also two additional cross bars for the roof rack included. There is a roof mounted DVD player for the rear passengers that can play through the radio or the two sets of wireless headphones that are with it.

Vehicle is in very good condition and has no known mechanical issues. The interior is in excellent shape with very minimal wear noted anywhere. This has never been smoked in, no pets, no smells, tears, stains, etc.

Last year my daughter backed into another car at about 3 miles an hour. The only thing I had to do was replace the rear passenger silver bumper wing. However, since the other owner filed on the insurance it does show on the Carfax. Just want to be open on the history. Sorry, the miles have gone up a bit since I just drove out to NM and back a week ago.  I can take additional pictures of anything specific for serious buyers.

Hurricane Sandy cost automakers 15,000 vehicles, may have ruined up to 200k

Wed, 07 Nov 2012

Hurricane Sandy was the largest Atlantic storm in US history, and its total economic impact is just now coming into view. According to Automotive News, Toyota, Chrysler, Nissan and Honda are set to scrap around 15,000 new vehicles ruined by the storm. Nissan alone accounts for about 40 percent of those, with 6,000 Nissan and Infiniti models deeded "un-saleable" due to damage. The company saw 56 dealerships shuttered due to the storm, but 51 of those have since reopened.
Toyota, meanwhile, had some 4,000 vehicles at its Newark port facility, and of those, 3,000 may be scrapped. An additional 825 were dealer inventory when they were ruined. Honda and Acura dealers are reportedly sending 3,440 vehicles to the salvage yard. By comparison, Chrysler weathered the storm fairly well with 825 units destroyed, while Hyundai suffered only 400 lost units and Kia scrapped around 200.
As you may recall, Fisker also suffered some losses, and Automotive News reports the manufacturer saw 320 Karma models damaged beyond repair. Ford and General Motors have yet to come up with estimates, and no automaker has commented on the full cost of replacing the vehicles.

Toyota to end Australian production by 2017

Mon, 10 Feb 2014

There is more bad news for the Australian auto industry today, as Toyota has just announced that it will follow General Motors and Ford in shuttering its manufacturing operations on the continent. Production and assembly will cease by the end of 2017, but Toyota will remain in Australia as a sales and distribution company.
"We did everything that we could to transform our business, but the reality is that there are too many factors beyond our control that make it unviable to build cars in Australia," said Toyota Australia President and CEO Max Yasuda.
In an official statement, Yasuda said that the closure would directly affect 2,500 manufacturing employees and an unknown number of corporate workers. However, a report in the Australian newspaper The Age suggests that the jobs of 24,000 workers at Australian auto suppliers could also be in jeopardy. Toyota currently builds its Camry, Camry Hybrid, Aurion sedans in Australia, along with four-cylinder engines, and it plans to begin importing the Camry and Aurion after production stops.

Toyota will steer clear of driverless cars

Thu, 04 Sep 2014

Toyota executives say the company's primary focus is on safety. At least for the time being, that means the company won't pursue development of a driverless car.
Speaking at the company's advanced safety seminar in Ypsilanti, MI, Thursday morning, Seigo Kuzumaki, Toyota's deputy chief safety technology officer, said that Toyota envisions a future driving environment that optimizes the best of both humans and computers, not choosing one over the other.
"Toyota's main objective is safety, so it will not be developing a driverless car." - Seigo Kuzumaki
