1989 Toyota Camry 97,829 Miles And Still Running Great! on 2040-cars

This is a great car that was originally purchased by my father in 1989. Last year he decided to take the plunge and get a new car (only took him 24 years) and he gave this car to me. I used it traveling to work and have never had any issues with it. It runs great, but I'm thinking it may be time soon for a muffler. As the main driver, I have not witnessed or observed any mechanical problems with this vehicle (aside from the mentioned muffler). The car runs pretty smoothly and I've enjoyed having it, but I decided to upgrade to a new vehicle and now I have no use for this one. With my dad's blessing, he's letting me sell it to help offset the cost of my new vehicle.
I'm including pictures so you can have a good look at what you're bidding on. I've also pictured the odometer, because it's pretty incredible that the mileage is this low for a car of 25 years. It passed it's final emissions testing when the registration was renewed, and I was told that (in Washington State) no further emissions tests would be required because the vehicle is now considered a "classic." My father takes great care of all of his vehicles, and he's maintained the vehicle pretty well. The care is dent free because it's been in zero accidents and the paint on it is in fair shape, showing some age and a few rough areas. I took pictures of all four sides, so you can magnify them if needed. The windows look pretty good for their age, but the driver's side window has some minor scratches (looks like a bad snow scraper got it one year.) This car comes from a smoke free environment (no one in my family smokes.) This vehicle is being sold "as is." I have a 100% rating on Ebay and that includes having sold one other vehicle in the past to a very satisfied seller. I'd prefer to sell locally, but if you're willing to arrange all shipping, you are more than welcome to have it shipped to your location. I've never shipped a vehicle, so I'd prefer the buyer to make all arrangements. I have the Vehicle Certificate of Title that I will sign once the sale is complete. The title is clean and clear and has my name registered as the owner. If you have any specific questions, I'll attempt to answer them. Honestly, I know little about this particular model, so I'm hoping pictures say a 1000 words or more. |

Toyota confirms i-Road electric trike for production
Tue, 08 Oct 2013The wacky, three-wheeled Toyota i-Road we saw in Geneva earlier this year will be heading to production. But before you run down to your local Toyota dealer looking for one of these all-electric "personal mobility" vehicles, chances are, you'll never actually see one unless you visit Japan.
Announced at the Combined Exhibition of Advanced Technologies (CEATEC) expo last week, Toyota said that the i-Road would be used as a part of the Ha:Mo car-sharing system in Japan. Weighing in at around 661 pounds, with a 28-mile-per-hour top speed and a two-passenger seating arrangement, the i-Road seems more like a fully enclosed scooter than a car, but it does offer a 30-mile driving range and has a nifty articulating front suspension that leans into corners. As for Ha:Mo, Toyota says that the number of cars in the program will increase from 10 prior to October 1 to 100 by the middle of this month, and the number of stations will almost double from 13 up to 21. Toyota recalling 11,200 Scion iQ models over faulty passenger sensors
Wed, 07 Nov 2012Toyota has announced a voluntary recall of 11,200 Scion iQ models from the 2012 and 2013 model years. According to the manufacturer, the problem with these pint-sized hatchbacks concerns the front passenger Occupant Classification System (OCS) weight sensor cables.
The OCS sensors in the front passenger seat control the operation of things like the airbags and seatbelt pre-tensioner. In these affected models, the cables for these sensors located in the seat track can become damaged as the passenger seat slides forward and backward. And if the cables are damaged, the airbags and seatbelt pre-tensioner may not function properly.
No injuries or crashes have been reported in conjunction with this issue.
Toyota to boost its Subaru stake to more than 20%
Fri, Sep 27 2019TOKYO — Toyota Motor Corp plans to raise its stake in Subaru Corp to more than 20% from around 17% now, a deal that would also see the smaller firm invest in Japan's top automaker, two people with direct knowledge of the matter said on Friday. The deal is due to be approved at a Toyota board meeting on Friday, the people said, declining to be identified because the information has not been made public. The investment would come a month after Toyota and another smaller Japanese automaker, Suzuki, said they would take small equity stakes in each other. Such tie-ups highlight how automakers are scrambling to chase scale, manage costs and boost development. Traditional car makers, especially smaller ones like Subaru and Suzuki, are struggling to meet the fast pace of change in an industry being transformed by the rise of electric vehicles, ride hailing and autonomous driving. Toyota's investment is likely to cost more than 70 billion yen ($650 million) based on Subaru's stock market value, said the Nikkei business daily, which first reported the news. Subaru is likely to reciprocate with a stake in Toyota that would roughly equal the value of Toyota's additional investment, one of the people told Reuters. The companies have long worked together on projects such as the Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ twins. At one time, Subaru built Toyota Camrys in its Indiana plant. Representatives for both Toyota and Subaru said the news was not something that had been announced by their companies. "The plan appears to be to ultimately make Subaru a fully owned subsidiary, to help create a 'mega Toyota.' This is the first step towards that," said Takeshi Miyao, managing director of Carnorama, a consultancy. "It's all about building scale." Subaru is particularly strong in sport-utility vehicles (SUV) and all-wheel-drive technology. The two automakers in June said they planned to jointly develop an electric sport-utility vehicle on a platform produced together, to split costs. Car markers around the world have been joining forces to slash development and manufacturing costs of new technology. Ford Motor Co and Volkswagen AG have said they will spend billions of dollars to jointly develop electric and self-driving vehicles. Toyota seems to be particularly keen to build scale now by investing in smaller, domestic automakers, rather than forging cross-border tie-ups like some of its rivals.
