Parting out 1987 Toyota Camry 180k miles, I replaced over $1,500 in new parts not counting labor over the past four months, It did not pass smog as they told me I need a sensor on my exhaust or something like that replaced. The reason for no labor charges is since I'm disabled I had the work done not by a dealership but by student mechanics at CET in downtown San Jose This is an automotive training school. This saved me a lot of money since I could not afford the dealer prices for repairs. The car is in somewhat running condition. What I mean by that is up until a couple of weeks ago I drove the vehicle a few times a week to my Dr. appointments but the driver’s side front bearing went out along with the sensor thing and I just couldn't afford to keep throwing more good money after bad and put any more parts on this car. A family member loaned my money to purchase a newer used vehicle and I just want to sell this to someone who may want to repair it or use the new parts on another Toyota they own I just want to recoup some of the money I invested.

Here are some of the items replaced in the past four months, Sway bar, sway bar bushings, sway bar mount plate, outer tie rod ends, rotor, brake pads, rebuilt calipers, new water pump, Tires are good more than half tread is left on it, 4 new shock assemblies, new shock mounting kits, lower control arms, lower control arm bushings, new ignition assembly with coil and cap, new fuel control solenoid, new spark plug wires, new spark plugs, fuseable link, brand new starter, new timing belt, new serpentine belt, new thermo control module, new oil and filter, flushed radiator, charged air condition unit which is really cold and multiple misc. items like head lights, break lights etc. You get the picture it's been a GREAT car as all Toyotas are but enough is enough. BTW the car is being sold as a whole unit meaning we are NOT! selling it piece by piece but the whole vehicle must be removed all at one time.

The engine runs and so does the transmission but the transmission started acting funny where it took a few seconds after I hit the gas for it to take off the mechanic said it needed a new shift switch assembly for the transmission. The engine turns over and runs but with the bearing on the wheel is now making noise and was smoking, I had to have it towed back to the house and it sits in my driveway. So you will need to have it towed as it can't be driven in the condition it is in. There is a little damage on the passenger side door and the front panel from a jerk who came to close to me but other than that the interior is not torn or ripped and everything works including the stereo system. It may sound like I know what I'm talking about but I don't I had a friend write all the parts that were replaced for me.

I'm asking only $800.00 O.B.O. I’m disabled and I live on a fixed income and I feel this is a fair offer. I am losing money on it but would like to pay my family member back some of the money they loaned me for my newer used car. Sometimes you just need to cut your losses and move forward. We have all the necessary paper work to complete the transaction.

Dutch Toyota dealer has plans for old Prius batteries as solar backup

Thu, May 1 2014

A Toyota dealer in the Netherlands is looking to the sky for power. The Louwman Hague Toyota dealership has put almost 1,000 solar panels on the roof, and there might be some Prius hybrid batteries involved. Our Dutch isn't as good as it could be and our questions to Toyota in the US haven't turned up any definitive answers, but there is some mention that these solar panels are will someday be feeding power into a bank of Toyota hybrid batteries. The 1,000 panels make up 1,600 square meters, about the size of 4.5 IMAX movie screens, and is the largest in the area. They generate around a quarter of a megawatt of energy [as our readers point out, this is what the translation says, but it doesn't make sense, so we think it might mean a quarter MW of power a day], which is enough to power 80 homes. The excess electricity will go into the battery packs that have (possibly) already been used in a Prius or another of the company's hybrid. There are many examples of automotive batteries being tested as stationary back-up power sources, and maybe this Dutch solution can be used as a guide when Toyota sets up its new US headquarters in sunny Texas.

Recharge Wrap-up: Model X pinch sensor update, Karma plans first store

Fri, Aug 26 2016

Tesla has improved Model X pinch sensor function in its latest over-the-air update. As we've seen, the pinch sensors already stop the falcon wing doors from completely shutting when they sense an obstruction. Now, though, the doors retract slightly after the sensors are triggered. While the pre-update doors didn't appear to do as much damage to human fingers as they do to various foodstuffs, it definitely looked uncomfortable, especially when one's hand is stuck in the partially closed door. Now, any pinch that does occur should be brief. See the updated sensors at work in the video above, and read more from Teslarati. Karma Automotive will move to Kawasaki's former headquarters in Irvine, California where it will also open its first store. The revival of the now defunct Fisker will sell its Revero plug-in hybrid through both dealerships and company-owned stores like the one planned for its new two-building campus. The property owner, Bixby, had planned to renovate the site, but now says Karma will make its own improvements. Bixby said it was seeking, "a progressive-minded tenant that would value the unique configuration," and appears to have found just that in Karma. Read more at Electrek, or from the OC Register. San Francisco is asking residents for help in expanding its subways. Using an online tool called Subway Vision, users can draw their own subway lines and stations that they'd like to see built and submit them to planners. Listening to the public is a useful tool for the city because, as Grahm Satterwhite, San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency's principal planner, admits, "Transportation planners may be too close to a problem to see the solution." This approach allows the subway expansions to "reflect the vision of not just a few transportation planners, but of all San Franciscans," he says. Read more from FastCo.Exist. Toyota is continuing its commitment to Yellowstone National Park with a sustainable Youth Campus for environmental education. The automaker donated $1 million to Yellowstone for the facility, which is seeking Living Building Challenge certification. It will have onsite wastewater treatment for its locally sourced water usage, and will generate all of its electricity needs from photovoltaic panels, with excess to put back into the grid. The campus will have classrooms and residences for students and staff for its youth programs.
