Jeremy Clarkson names 10 worst cars for 2015 and 2016
Wed, Aug 24 2016When Jeremy Clarkson, outspoken automotive journalist, ex- Top Gear host, and co-host on The Grand Tour, drives a car he doesn't like he doesn't pull his punches. As Jezza harshly puts it, cars shouldn't just be a form of transportation. These 10 cars made Clarkson's "the terrible 10" list on his column in The Sunday Times for lacking imagination and not giving the journalist "the Fizz," which his list of top 10 cars did. In typical Clarkson fashion, the list is controversial. Some of the cars on Clarkson's list have received praise from other outlets, which shouldn't really come as a surprise since he usually goes against the majority's opinion. Nonetheless, there's at least one car that will catch you off guard. To get a glimpse at Clarkson's reviews and the entire list of cars, head over to his column in The Sunday Times. Toyota and Subaru file patents for performance FR-S and BRZ
Wed, Nov 11 2015People have longed for a more powerful version of the Subaru BRZ, Scion FR-S, and Toyota GT86 since the triplets arrived on the market. So far, neither partner in the deal has launched a model to fully satiate that hunger. However, the Japanese patent office recently approved documents from Toyota for the design of a vehicle that looks just like the Subaru STI Performance Concept (pictured above). According to AutoGuide, the filing also gives Fuji Heavy Industries credit for the design. The STI Performance Concept debuted at this year's New York Auto Show as an early step in STI's attempt to expand its reach here. The BRZ-derived coupe featured a body with a ground-scraping front bumper, tweaked headlights, wider fenders, a massive rear wing, and diffuser with a center-exit exhaust. All of these elements also show up on the patent renderings. The concept was just as exciting under the hood because STI installed a 2.0-liter, turbocharged boxer four-cylinder from its GT300 racer, and upgrades for the chassis, suspension, and brakes came from the Japanese market's BRZ tS. While the coupe made hearts race, the company was clear it didn't necessarily plan to build the model. Patent filings aren't a guarantee for production, and even if this one does arrive in showrooms, it might not come to the US. That's because Subaru and Toyota have a history of creating Japan-exclusive versions like the tS or Style Cb. That being said, spy shots have revealed a camouflaged GT86 testing in Europe, and rumors indicate more power from the engine. Subie's boss has even confirmed the existence of a partnership to create a next-gen model. Related Video:
Bollywood star gets 5-year sentence for hit and run, after 13-year trial
Wed, May 6 2015It took nearly 13 years for popular Bollywood actor Salman Khan (pictured right in above photo) to be sentenced to five years in prison for allegedly hitting five people with his SUV, one of whom was killed. On May 6, the movie star was found guilty of culpable homicide, rash and negligent driving, and being intoxicated at the time, according to Time. The tragic incident that began the legal odyssey occurred in September 2002 when the Toyota Land Cruiser that Khan was in struck five people on a sidewalk in Mumbai. The actor denied both being drunk and being behind the wheel at the time. However, witnesses disputed those assertions. Khan fought the allegations tooth and nail from the very beginning. According to Time, he even challenged the charge of culpable homicide all the way to the Supreme Court of India, but the case was sent back to lower courts in 2013. In the years since the crash, several witnesses recanted their original statements, but it wasn't enough to sway the verdict. Khan reportedly started crying when he heard his sentence.
