1985 Toyota 4 Runner Crawler
'99 Chevy Vortec 4.3, 4 speed auto 4L60E w/ shift kit mated to Toyota t-case.
T-case is a twin stick Marlin Crawler 4.3:1 case. Aussie Lockers front and rear with Cryo treated 5.29's.
Longfield Super 30's, Longfield 4340 inner hub gears, chromoly knuckle studs, hub studs, etc.
3 Link w/pan hard rear, FOX 2.0 Shocks. Extended wheelbase, dovetailed. Leafs up front with high steer and hydro assist.
35"x16"x15" Super Swaper Boggers on 15x10 steel. May or may not include Milemarker 9500 front and Warn rear winchs.
Tooo much to list, and a good bit of spare parts. The Vortec had 55,000 miles on it when I put in around Sept. 2006. From there it has maybe a max of 1000 trail miles.
Transmission was a complete professional rebuild with an aggressive shift kit. (It will chirp the Boggers on dry pavement going from 1st to second)

I got this Virginia truck from a friend around Nov. 2004. From there I rebuilt the thing from ground up, replacing anything and everything until I got it all done in August 2006.
Sept 2006 is when it hit the trails for first time. I have wheeled it from PA to AL, and it has taken everything in stride.

Currently it needs some minor work to get it running. I had swapped in a 10 gallon fuel cell with foam inside, which has been a nightmare. The foam has degraded and was clogging (BOTH) fuel filters.
I have just pulled the foam out and tossed it, and put 2 new fuel filters in place. I am guessing all fuel line needs purged/cleaned, along with fuel cell and probably fresh high octane and it should be good again.

I am just at the point that I am tired of working on it and there are not many locals that wheel enough and can keep up on the trails.

Also consider, I am looking for a Polaris RZR, or a Polaris Sportsman. (looking to buy new, but never know what you may find)

I have over $20,000 invested in building this rig right from the ground up.. seems like a lot, until you start doing what I have done to build it.
I didn't skimp on cheap parts just to get it together. I am fully aware I will get nowhere near what I have in to this thing, and would make a lot more parting it out, but that is not something I want to do.

All that being said, I will not entertain low ball offers. If you are looking at this, you know what it is and what these cost to build. This is not a Kelly Blue Book vehicle.

Airbag recall adds 85k Pontiac Vibes to tally

Fri, 13 Jun 2014

The repairs needed for the faulty airbag inflators supplied by Takata continue to expand. Toyota initially announced a recall of 766,300 vehicles equipped with the bad part on June 11 as a followup to a campaign from 2013. Soon after, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened a preliminary evaluation into five automakers who also used the component in their models. Now, NHTSA has released the official announcement of the latest Toyota recall listing 844,277 affected cars, including the newly added 2003-2004 Pontiac Vibe.
While NHTSA's document didn't include a model-by-model breakdown, General Motors spokesperson Alan Adler estimated to Autoblog that roughly 85,000 Vibes in the US would be covered under the latest recall. Like the rest of the affected models, the airbag inflator could rupture in a crash causing the bag not to work correctly, possibly spraying metal fragments at the occupant.
Toyota spokesperson Cindy Knight told Autoblog that the reason for the disparity between the earlier press release and NHTSA document was that Toyota was continuing to comb through VINs to create a list of affected vehicles. The original number was an estimate of that process at the time. Scroll down to the recall report from NHTSA.

Toyota's car subscription service rewards you for safe driving

Tue, Feb 5 2019

Toyota has teamed up with Sumitomo Mitsui Auto Service Company to launch a new car subscription service with gamification elements in Japan. The program is called Kinto, and it'll offer two tiers: the first, called Kinto One, will allow you to drive one Toyota vehicle over a three-year period for anywhere between $420 and $900 a month. When the tier becomes available on March 1st, you can choose from the available Prius, Corolla Sport, Alphard, Vellfire and Crown models. The other tier called Kinto Select will give you the power to drive one of the available Lexus-branded vehicles for $1,630 a month for three years. Now, what truly makes Kinto potentially more interesting than other leasing services is a rewards program that awards points based on how well you drive. Toyota didn't really expound on how it will work, other than saying that it will "award points to customers based on their vehicle usage (such as for safe or ecological driving)." As TechCrunch notes, the assumption is that the vehicle's in-car connected system will come with the ability to monitor your driving. Best thing about it is that the points you earn aren't useless rewards you can't even use: you'll be able to apply them toward payments. Kinto's Select option will be available starting on February 6th, almost a full month before the more affordable Kinto One launches. Both will be available via select dealers in Tokyo on a trial basis, and they won't officially roll out across Japan until summer. The points program won't be available until fall, when Kinto One's options will also expand. Unfortunately, there's no word on whether Kinto will eventually roll out in the US and other markets outside Toyota's home nation. For more information on Vehicle Subscription Services, check out the Complete Guide.Reporting by Mariella Moon for Engadget.Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. Behold the mad genius of the Ferrari-powered Toyota 86

Thu, Jul 28 2016

Ryan Tuerck's latest project, a Toyota 86 with the F136 V8 engine from a Ferrari 458, has to be one of craziest projects ever envisioned. While the finished project will be nothing short of extraordinary, Tuerck reveals some of the finer details on fitting a large Italian engine into a small Japanese car. One of the most difficult tasks with the engine swap is getting the V8 to fit in the 86's compact engine compartment. Since the V8 is taller and longer than the stock 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, Tuerck and his team have had to do a lot of cutting and fabricating. Tuerck also revealed that the vehicle wouldn't be used in competition, which allows the team to go beyond the rulebook in terms of body strengthening and custom components. There's still a lot of work to be done, but Tuerck claims the vehicle will be ready by October. Donut Media, the YouTube channel that is covering the build, promises to cover every aspect of the project including the first start, which should be coming soon.
