2005 Toyota 4runner Limited Sport Utility 4-door 4.7l on 2040-cars

2005 Toyota 4Runner Limited in Dorado Gold Pearl over Taupe leather interior. This version has the 4.7L V8, 5 speed automatic transmission, and rear wheel drive. Currently has about 146,000 miles but looks and drives great. If you are looking for a 4runner then you probably already know what amazingly capable and dependable vehicles they are. If you are looking for a SUV and aren’t looking for a 4runner, you should be. Check some classified listings to see how many miles these trucks will go for and still hold their value. This is why you want one with a V8: Incredible motor that was designed to serve in both trucks and luxury sedans so you get power, reliability, and refinement. The V6 version doesn’t save you much in MPG and won’t have the kind of power on demand that this does. This is why you want a 2005: V6 models get upgraded from a 4 speed transmission to a 5 speed version. The V8 got a 35 horsepower boost to 270 HP / 320 lb/ft with no sacrifice in fuel economy thanks to variable valve timing. This is why you want a Limited edition: You get these standard features not on SR5 models: Leather interior with 8-way power driver’s seat and 4-way power passenger seat, sunroof, 120V power inverter, upgraded instrument cluster illumination, heated front seats, dual zone climate control, auto on/off headlights, JBL Synthesis premium sound system with 6-disc in-dash CD/MP3 player, silver and granite interior trim with leather trimmed shift knob, and double-decker cargo shelf system. This is why you want this one: We purchased it from the original owner in 2008. She drove up and down I-75 delivering brochures and her husband owns an auto shop so the car had highway miles and was maintained properly. A search of Toyota’s service records shows the replacement of the power lumbar motor as the only non-routine item in the first 100K miles. Since purchasing, we have kept up on the maintenance with regular Mobil 1 oil changes and other items as needed. We had the timing belt replaced and it isn’t required again until 180K miles. This has been a great truck that served us well but we are looking at getting either a 4WD version of this or it’s fancy cousin, the Lexus GX470. The car has no drivability issues and everything works as it should. There is the usual wear and tear associated with a vehicle of this age; some rock chips, a small scratch on the rear bumper, and some fading on a couple of the plastic fender flares. The only disappointment in the car is the cracked dashboard. Apparently Toyota hasn’t figured out how to make one that stands up to the heat as I’ve seen it on most of the other Lexus / 4Runners that we’ve been shopping for. Front tires are getting worn but can be worked into the deal. The car is being driven daily so mileage will increase. $500 non-refundable deposit due within 24 hours of purchase. I shouldn't have to put pages of legal disclaimer here: if you make an offer and it is accepted, you are expected to buy the car and I'm expected to sell it to you. Have your inspections or financing completed first. I am happy to assist with shipping or inspections but this must be arranged before purchase. I'm also happy to take more pictures of any specific areas so you know exactly what you are getting. |

Where the 2023 GMC Sierra AT4X fits into the hierarchy of off-road trucks
Fri, Oct 22 2021The world of off-road pickups sure seems like it's getting crowded, but the reality is that half-ton trucks were always pretty capable, even with what seemed like fairly basic 4x4 packages. It wasn't until recently that manufacturers really started to carve out different off-road niches for their mainstream pickup offerings. With the introduction of the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4X (alongside its mechanical twin, the Chevy Silverado ZR2), the crowd has grown even thicker. Even we have trouble keeping up with the increased segmentation of off-road pickup trucks, so we threw together this handy guide to help you understand just where these various packages fit into the broader pickup hierarchy. Let's dive in. Your basics If we say "Z71" or "FX4" to you, both will probably ring a bell. That's because they've been around a few days short of forever and their respective customers have grown so used to these package codes that OEMs got into the habit of just plastering them on the side of so-equipped truck beds. Anybody who sells a pickup truck offers some sort of basic off-road prep package like this one. Z71 is found on GM vehicles; FX4 is Ford's. Ram just calls it "Off Road Group," but no matter what you call them, they're all pretty similar. Typical upgrades for this category include some additional ground clearance, a basic all-terrain tire, heavy-duty suspension upgrades and likely either a limited-slip or locking rear differential. These are pretty handy for anything beyond a rutted dirt road. On newer trucks — especially on higher trim levels — you'll probably also get some dedicated off-road drive modes. Mid-range This is where things start to get interesting. To qualify for this category, a locking rear differential is a must. Most of the names in this segment are well-established too, though some (Nissan Titan Pro-4X, anyone?) may not necessarily be on your radar. The Toyota Tundra TRD Pro checks in here, as does the Ram Rebel, Chevy Silverado Trail Boss and GMC Sierra AT4 (no X!). Realistically, if there's somewhere you need to go and one of these trucks won't do it, you might want to consider a helicopter. But it's 2021, and our thirst for capability is strong, so of course, there's a way to spend more of your money on this type of thing. Onward! Entry-hardcore Here we are, the home of the new 2022 GMC Sierra AT4X and Chevrolet Silverado ZR2. This is a tiny niche, otherwise occupied only by the Ford F-150 Tremor.
These are 2014's best-selling cars and trucks
Tue, Jan 6 2015Now that 2014 is no more than a set of numbers on spreadsheets, at last, the grist mill gets its first real load to chew on. The number one selling vehicle in America last year was the Ford F-Series, a fact that should surprise you only if your family name is Van Winkle and your naps tend to last 38 years, which is how long the Ford pickup has ruled our buying landscape. Even though series sales were down 1.3 percent, it still racked up 753,851 units. That's 2,065.3 sales per day, every day, all year. The Chevrolet Silverado, up 10.3 percent for the year, was still a daylight second at 529,755 units. The cab-and-bed love continued into third place with the Ram 1500-3500 trucks, gaining 23.6-percent year-on-year to clock 439,789 units. The robust turnout at The Bighorn and Jeep helped Fiat-Chrysler increase its sales by 16 percent, past the two-million mark. Our number one car? The Toyota Camry, staying in first place with a 4.9-percent sales boost to 428,606 sales, trailed again by the Honda Accord at number five with 388,374 sales. Accord sales rose six percent, and if it's any consolation to Honda for coming in second - not that it needs one - it is the only manufacturer to have three vehicles in the top ten. The rest of the list: the Nissan Altima with 335,644 sales (+4.7%), the Honda CR-V with 355,019 (+10.2%), the Toyota Corolla/Matrix combo with 339,498 (+5.9%), the Honda Civic with 325,981 (-3.1%), and the Ford Fusion with 306,860 sales (+2.9%). Total sales for the year were up six percent to 16.5 million vehicles, a volume not seen since 2006, aided by a strong December that was up by 11 percent year-on-year. Ford was the top selling brand overall but sales didn't really budge from 2013, while Subaru rocketed up 21 percent to finish with 513,693 sales. At the precious end, BMW, Audi, Porsche and Land Rover all had record years, and Kelley Blue Book thinks we could be looking at 17 million sales for the next two or three years. Looks like it's time to start making hay again... New Toyota Mirai videos continue questionable hydrogen claims
Thu, Dec 18 2014"Toyota engineers were simultaneously working on a brand new technology that met all the driver's needs with an even smaller carbon footprint." Toyota has released a number of new promotional videos for the hydrogen-powered 2016 Mirai. Most are exactly what you'd expect: pretty, full of promise and vaguely informational. But there was one line in the Product Introduction video that caught out ear. In the Product Information video about the Mirai, the narrator goes into a short history of Toyota's green car advances. After talking about the Prius and the Prius Plug In, making EVs for urban commuting and the rest of Toyota's advanced fuel programs, we hear this: "Never satisfied though, Toyota engineers were simultaneously working on a brand new technology that met all the driver's needs with an even smaller carbon footprint, one that took its lead from nature itself." You can watch the video (and four others) below. Plug In America co-founder Paul Scott told AutoblogGreen, "Show us the math! Toyota claims the FCV has a smaller carbon footprint than their EV, but every paper I've read indicates the FCV uses 3-4 times as much energy to travel a given distance as an EV. If they are making this claim, let's call them out to prove it. Show us the math!" There's some math that comes out in favor of EVs here and here. "BEVs and FCs have a very similar carbon footprint, dependent on fuel source." – Toyota's Jana Hartline Plug-in vehicle advocate Chelsea Sexton went further. "Assuming appropriate comparisons in energy feedstock, basic science doesn't support the notion that the footprint of an FCV is smaller than that of an EV," she told AutoblogGreen, explaining that "appropriate comparison" would mean using similar energy generation methods for both hydrogen and plug-in vehicles. Not the tendency, she noted, "of H2 fans to compare FCVs based on solar-based electrolysis to EVs running on coal-bases electricity and similar shenanigans." Besides, Sexton said, "focusing purely on efficiencies entirely misses the biggest struggles that FCVs face in the market, namely fuel price, inconvenience, and market fear, even if the vehicles themselves are initially subsidized.
