Up for auction is this 87 4Runner. I purchased this 4Runner and an 85 Toyota turbo diesel pickup on the same day a couple of months ago with plans of creating a turbo diesel 4Runner.

Both were out of California and completely rust free! After much thought I find it better to do a 2wd to 4wd conversion on the pickup as both trucks are just to nice to gut.
So I've decided to pass the 4Runner along to a lucky new owner.
This Runner still wears it's original paint and decals and has NEVER been in an accident!
I have a large file with service records and two auto check reports seven years apart that are squeaky clean!
One shouldn't be concerned about the mileage as this rust free 4Runner came to me with a brand new no expense spared long block!
It had less than 100 break in miles on it ( I have the receipts, installed 2/13 ) costing the previous owner $1900.00!
The front end had been rebuilt about 60,000 miles ago and needs no attention .
I personally would rather own a 300 k mile rebuilt truck than a 100-200 k plus mile truck with it's drive train on it's last leg!
The truck did have a few issues that needed to be addressed so to pass it along with a clear conscious I preformed the following cosmetic tasks.
First I removed the seats and professionally cleaned them as well as carpets.
I had a new cargo area head liner installed.
I installed a new passenger side window switch, a new console arm rest, and a transmission shifter trim.
I had the drivers seat bolster replaced and foam added to the seat.
I felt it best to address the following mechanical tasks:
I installed a new alternator and battery.
I had the transmission serviced (new filter and fluid) and it checks out and works just as it should, shifting perfectly.
I replaced the gear oil in the differentials and transfer case (also works perfectly).
This truck has no leaks and runs and drives perfectly!
I also installed a brand new set of Goodyear Wrangler all terrain type tires.
The stereo was not up to my standards so I installed a new Kenwood AM/FM compact disk player with Ipod dock.
All that being said, this is not a new truck and the paint is thin in couple of areas (roof and hood mainly)! It has some minor dings but no major dents.
The glass is is really good condition except for a scratch on the rear glass and a couple of rock chips I had repaired on the windshield!
I have done everything to this truck I would do before selling it to a family member!
I wouldn't hesitate driving this truck anywhere ,but the motor should be properly broken in before taking it on an extended highway trip!
I have done my best to honestly represent this truck and know that with proper care this truck will last for many years to come!
All sales will be final with no warranties expressed or implied!
I also reserve the right to end the auction early as the truck is for sale locally with parties having expressed interest!
Please feel free to ask any questions and I will do my best to respond quickly.
Thank you and happy bidding!

I will help the buyer with shipping by making the truck available for pick up at my office park. It is located just a few miles off I-10 here in Houston.

Also please don't inquire or bid if funds are not readily available!!

I have close to $8000.00 invested in this truck but my reserve is considerably less than that.

I will expect a non refundable $500.00 deposit within 2 hours of the auctions close via Paypal and the balance to be wired within 96 hours there after.

Toyota GT86 CS-R3 rally car presages for-sale customer racecar

Thu, 31 Jul 2014

Rallying may enjoy a very strong association with all-wheel drive, but it wasn't so long ago that the World Rally Championship was populated by cars that slipped and slid across gravel and tarmac using rear-wheel drive. One of those was the Toyota Celica. While the little Celica eventually joined the gravel-spewing masses with an all-wheel-drive rally car, Toyota is returning to its rear-drive rally roots with a modified version of the critically acclaimed GT86.
Called the CS-R3, the new model boasts all the necessary changes to turn the diminutive twin of the Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ into a car capable of tackling the tough, twisting paths that are so routinely conquered by the world's rally cars. That means, of course, the CS-R3 has gotten a power bump.
Expected output sits between 240 and 250 horsepower, thanks to a new racing exhaust and manifold, as well as other changes. The ECU has been replaced with an item a bit more suited to racing, while the compression ratio has also been adjusted to boost the output.

Toyota reveals new TS040 Hybrid LMP1 [w/videos, poll]

Thu, 27 Mar 2014

There's a new season of motor racing upon us, and while that doesn't always mean a new crop of cars in every series, in the case of the 2014 FIA World Endurance Championship, that's exactly what it means. Porsche recently revealed its new 919 Hybrid and Audi its revised R18 E-Tron Quattro. Now it's Toyota's turn.
Revealed today at the Paul Ricard test track in the South of France, the new TS040 Hybrid is based on the TS030 Hybrid it replaces, redesigned to meet the latest regulations established by the FIA and ACO for the World Endurance Championship and its flagship race, the 24 Hours of Le Mans. In accordance with said regulations, the TS040 is two inches narrower than the TS030 and also incorporates a new hybrid powertrain.
The previous 3.4-liter V8 has been replaced by a 3.7-liter V8 developing 513 horsepower, and the new engine is coupled to an Aisin AW electric motor at the front, a Denso electric motor at the rear and a Nisshinbo super-capacitor that combine to kick out an extra 473 hp, giving the system a combined output of nearly 1,000 horsepower while consuming 25 percent less fuel than last year's car. It also gives the TS040 all-wheel drive to help channel all that power to the road.

How Charlotte lost to Plano without even knowing it was dealing with Toyota

Thu, 08 May 2014

With Toyota set to relocate its North American headquarters to the Dallas, TX suburb of Plano following a top-secret, 100-city search, the cities that missed out can now begin asking themselves what happened during a process they apparently knew little about.
That's a particularly brutal task for Charlotte, which, according to North Carolina's Secretary of Commerce, Sharon Decker, finished second to Plano. While Toyota has been fairly open about what it was looking for in a new headquarters city - direct flights to Japan, proximity to its US production facilities, a lower cost of living, high-quality educational facilities and finding a neutral site suitable to the California, Kentucky and New York-based employees that would be relocated - it's been less open about how the finalist cities, which also included Atlanta and Denver, stacked up against each other.
The Charlotte Observer has a few ideas. Part of the problem is the distinct lack of direct flights between Charlotte and Asia. US Airways, which operates a hub at Charlotte/Douglas International Airport, doesn't fly to Asia.
