1986 Suzuki Samurai
This is a great little fun truck for exploring the back roads in.  It is rugged and well build, but we have two and my husband said one needs a new home.
(The green Sammy in the photos is the one we are keeping, and it's not for sale.)  The exterior and interior is in Line-X bedlinner spary.  The outside is a gray and looks like new, also never needs anything but hosing off to keep it looking good. The interior liner is black.  It has upgraded seats in dark gray cloth, nice and soft with extra foam.  The back seat is original, and all have working seat belts.  All lights and back up lights work.  It has a rebuilt transmission (5 speed) and new ceramic clutch and cable.   It does have a receiver hitch on the rear bumper.  Both window regulators have been replaced; new timing cover and seal.  Nice stereo and speakers, front floor mats, some padding on the roll bars, visors, extra bikini top, good soft top with roll up windows, manual switch for auxiliary radiator fan, ash tray and the cigarette lighter works.  He has quick removable doors (no tools required) for that open air ride too.

Exterior:  Spring over axle lift  with the extended shocks, rear shocks have been moved inboard at top to increase articulation, new wheels and  5 new 30" tires,  spare never used, rebuilt transmission, Weber Carburetor,  back and front custom bumpers with Truck Lites,  plus a 10,000 pound winch.  Lots of money has been already invested, in this Sammy.  It came from the Phoenix area and now we hold the clear New Mexico title on it.  It passed our state emission test.  Due to its life in the SW there is no apparent rust (see photos) and is a collision free vehicle.

It is dependable and starts right up.

WHAT DOES NOT WORK:   The clock is hard to read with faint numbers, the truck has its original factory A/C, but we have not attempted to get it working; may just need belts or charging.  All components are still in place. The doors do not lock from the outside with the key, and it needs headlight bezels.  The gas gauge does not read correctly, when full it shows only half a tank.  Also add your own jack.  Thanks and Good luck.

Suzuki recalling 23k GSX-R750 and GSX-R1000 bikes to replace chain adjuster

Sat, 18 Oct 2014

Suzuki is known for having a pair of very capable sportbikes in its GSX-R750 and GSXR-1000, but now the Japanese company is recalling 23,073 of them in the US to replace the chain adjuster. Specifically, the campaign affects 2011-2014 model year versions of the 750 and the 2009-2014 1000.
According to documents from The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the problem can occur if riders miss a gear while upshifting. It's possible that the following shift might put enough added strain on the drivetrain to move the rear axle. This can damage the left-side chain adjuster. If there's too much harm done to the part, then the chain could potentially slip off the bike, leaving the powerless bike more vulnerable to a crash.
To fix the problem, Suzuki dealers will "replace the left-side adjuster with an improved part" that will be heat-treated to be stronger. Scroll down to read the full recall report.

Junkyard Gem: 2008 Suzuki XL-7

Sun, Jan 21 2024

The American Suzuki Motor Corporation filed for bankruptcy in 2012 and sold its final Kizashis, SX4s and Grand Vitaras here the following year. In the decade prior to that, a big chunk of the Suzuki lineup involved rebadged Daewoos, but South Korea wasn't the only outpost of the far-flung GM Empire helping out with Suzuki hardware. After the Saturn Vue debuted as a 2002 model, its platform ended up everywhere, including beneath the second-generation Suzuki XL-7. Here's one of those machines, found in a Denver self-service car graveyard recently. Prior to 2007, the XL-7 name had been applied to a stretched version of the body-on-frame Grand Vitara, a pure Suzuki design. The 2007-2009 XL-7 looked quite different from its closest relatives, the Saturn Vue, Pontiac Torrent and Chevrolet Equinox. Assembly took place at CAMI Assembly in Ontiario, birthplace of many a Geo Metro and Suzuki Swift. The engine is the 3.6-liter version of the 60° High Feature V6, rated at 252 horsepower and 243 pound-feet. A five-speed automatic was the only transmission available. This one is a base model with front-wheel-drive and seating for five. Its MSRP was $21,599, or about $34,419 in 2024 dollars. The radio has an AUX input, a fairly unusual feature in 2008. Inside, one of the most heartbreaking notes I've ever found in a junkyard car. Does the Tooth Fairy give money to kids who knock out the teeth of other kids and steal them? It's like a Suzuki motorcycle, but with more cargo capacity. Those Suzuki-riding bikers know a good SUV when they see one. Who knew that it wouldn't be long before motorcycles and ATVs would be the only new Suzukis available here?
