1988.5 (Square vent) Suzuki Samurai Hardtop
Picked this up after it had been sitting for 3 years, PO had just installed:
New Clutch, new clutch cable, new throttle cable.
Vehicle was towed behind a motorhome for years so actual 'engine use' mileage is less.
1.3L carb'd SOHC engine runs well, new O2 sensor and A/C equipment removed
5speed trans works well, has typical 'slop', 4X4 and locking hubs work perfect
Usual squeaks and rattles, Clean NC title in mt name, Registration paid for 1 year and dirt cheap to insure (my policy was $57 for 6 months!)
Recent work I have done:
-New Rugged Ridge Grey Cloth Drivers and Passenger Seats (Drivers installed, Passenger arrives in the next 72hrs and will be installed prior to sale)
-Interior was stripped and Coated in Stain Black Rustoleum
-Vehicle sheetmetal corners and door bottoms filled with Sound/Moisture/Vibration resistant AutoFoam
-Entire floor/doors and Headliner covered in FatMat Sound Deadening
-New Grey Vinyl Marine-Grade Door Panels and Rear panels (OK fit, not perfect)
-New Custom matching Grey Cloth headliner
-New Custom Grey Complete carpeting snap-in by a known Porsche restorer
-Exterior lightly sanded and primed in Rustoleum Satin Black
-New interior door latches
-New Rear Bumper
Was going for FUNCTIONALITY, not looks on this build. Can be painted by the new owner or left in current Black Anti-rust primer.
Some minor rust sanded off on hood edge/door bottoms. One area eaten thru behind drivers rear wheel ground out and filled with foam, sealed from both sides.
Rear seat removed and disposed off all carpeted. Windows bars reinstalled and roof bar reinstalled. Heat and Fan works all gauges work, no stereo.
Weather stripping on door but needs plastic clips to hold it in place better. Exterior originally White (see underhood pic) and Interior was Brown, so seat belt fabric and dash are still Brown)
CHEAP to maintain and operate, RARE hardtop model! I drive it daily, there are some suspension squeaks and clunks, tires are OK, original rims 15", brakes great, has the occasional 'clicky start issue' but always runs, and cool (1/2 or less on Temp gauge regardless of driving style or ambient temps)
Missing inside door pulls and needs windows felt trim to seal/quite them properly.
Included:
-New exterior mirror and door handle
-New front rotors in box
-New Stainless Steel Rocker Covers
-NEW Black Window Cranks

Suzuki Chapter 11 bankruptcy plans approved by US court
Tue, 05 Mar 2013It's pretty much a done-deal now, folks. A US bankruptcy judge has approved Suzuki's plans to wind down its operations in the States. As part of Suzuki's Chapter 11 proceedings, its automotive unit will cease to exist in the US, leaving the motorcycle, ATV and marine units to function as Suzuki Motor of America.
It's not clear how many vehicles are left on the 219 remaining Suzuki dealership lots - the company reported sales of 1,764 in February - but the automaker has assured customers that warranty service and parts will remain available. Suzuki made an investment of $45 million to ensure its past and current customers aren't completely left in repair-work limbo.
Check out the complete announcement from Suzuki below for more information, and please join us in mourning the loss of the Kizashi sedan and SX4 hatch, two vehicles we are legitimately going to miss when this whole sordid affair is done and over with.
Suzuki: 'No comment' on returning to the U.S. with the Jimny
Tue, Oct 2 2018It is impossible not to love the Suzuki Jimny. A prototypical cute ute, with equal parts cuteness and utility, it not only defined its segment, it became a cult classic. Now, it's back, but unfortunately unlikely to come to the American market as the Jimny, Samurai or anything else. "We have no comment on the Jimny or Suzuki returning to the U.S. market," says Nathalie Geslin, a spokesperson for Suzuki in France, from the floor of the Paris Motor Show, where the adorable Jimny made its recent premiere. "For that you'll have to ask Suzuki headquarters in Japan." In France, this is what is known as Le Brushoff. Geslin did confirm that, in the markets around the world where the Jimny will appear, it will be available only in one spec: an adaptable, RWD/AWD, closed hardtop with a manual transmission with available Low range, and powered by a 102-horsepower 1.5-liter gasoline engine. "Suzuki has eliminated diesel motors from their whole range," she said, a notable move and a trend flowing from the fuel's immutable high particulate and noxious gas emissions, and growing global sensitivity to their effects. Actually, she tells us, there will be one other spec. "In the Japanese market, there will be a Kei Car version, an actual smaller Kei Car, which means it will be powered by a motor of less than 600cc." Just 1,500 of these cars are expected to be sold in the French market, mainly to people who, according to Geslin, are not off-reading aficionados, but "People who go off-roading in their normal life, who live in the mountains or work in an area with rugged conditions." This sounds to us like a description of every small-scale goat cheese producer in the White Mountains in rural Vermont, every boutique mountainside vintner in Sonoma county, every yellow micro-beet farmer in the Wisconsin Dells. And all of us who live in four-season climates and love the outdoors but think a Jeep is perfect except that it's a third too large. Like the Jeep, the Jimny is retro cool without being retro. It is just itself. And we need it. If it takes only 1,500 potential buyers in France to allow it to be sold there, how many does that translate to in America? If all of us start emailing Suzuki headquarters every day to beg for it, maybe we can find out. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. Suzuki tunes up tiny concepts for Tokyo Auto Salon
Mon, Dec 28 2015When counting Japanese automakers, don't forget Suzuki, which has a trio of new show cars lined up for the Tokyo Auto Salon in a couple of weeks. First up is the Water Activity concept. It's based on the Ignis and done up in a matte-finish army green with orange accents, a canoe strapped to the roof, metallic underbody trim, and bigger wheels. It's not unlike the Ignis Trail concept that Suzuki revealed at the main Tokyo Motor Show a few months ago, but taken in more of an outdoorsy direction than a sporty one. Joining it is the Hustler Rough Road Style, based on the oddball square wagon we first saw in concept form back in 2013 but ruggedized for the rocky trail. To that end it features a jacked-up suspension, knobby little tires, caged-in headlights, and a yellow paint job that makes it look as though it wandered through a paintball arena. It even has its name spelled out on the nose like you'd expect to see on a Hummer or Land Rover, and blacked-out trim on everything from the roof to the door handles. Last but not least is the Alto Works GP, which takes the punchy little hot hatch we reported on just the other day in an even racier direction. It features a blue and acid green livery borrowed from Suzuki's MotoGP bike, complemented by a custom carbon-fiber hood. It'll be displayed at the Japanese tuner expo alongside its two-wheeled counterpart, not to mention a smattering of other vehicles from the company's lineup when the show opens on January 15.
