Best of the breed 2009 Outback XT Limited with rare 5-speed manual transmission and 70k miles.  Transferable CPO warranty.   This is my third Subaru wagon. It is efficient yet very fun to drive. 0-60 in under 7 seconds. Like a WRX with more space! It has a Parrot Asteroid Smart multimedia head unit. It's like having an android device for a head unit. JDM kit to separate out HVAC from headunit. Powered by the WRX 2.5 Liter, 243 HP turbo boxer engine with all-wheel drive. Equipped with SI-Drive, which includes "intelligent" drive mode which saves fuel. Very clean throughout. The car had recent 60k mile service (and I have records) at the dealer and has new Michelin MXV tires. It is also a certified preowned car with an extended and transferable powertrain warranty to 100k miles. Everything works great and nothing is needed. Interior and exterior show very well with few signs of wear, and I have both allweather floor mats and brand new factory cloth mats. Factory cross bars are also included, but not shown. Tow package is brand new. This is an excellent example of a rare Outback model.  Rotors and Brakes changed 2 weeks ago.   I am offering it for $18,600 OBO.

2022 Subaru BRZ revealed with 228 horsepower

Wed, Nov 18 2020

Subaru revealed the 2022 BRZ early Wednesday morning with a 228-horsepower, naturally aspirated boxer engine and a curb weight under 2,900 pounds, even with its optional automatic transmission.  On paper, the 2022 BRZ appears to carry on in the spirit of its predecessor. While it does get an additional 23 hp and 28 pound-feet of torque thanks to its new 2.4-liter horizontally opposed engine, just about everything else on the 2022 BRZ's spec sheet appears to pick up right where the 2020 model left off.  The 2022 model grew less than an inch to 167.9" and its wheelbase stretches only 0.2 inches to 101.4". The six-speed manual is still the standard transmission, and it's paired with a limited-slip rear differential; a six-speed automatic with wheel-mounted paddles and auto rev-matching remains available as an option.  Subaru even managed to keep the BRZ's curb weight from doing anything silly. The 2020 model was listed at 2,798 pounds with the manual transmission; that climbs to just 2,815 for 2022. This effectively means you're getting more horsepower and more torque without any appreciable weight penalty, and Subaru didn't even have to resort to a more complex turbocharged engine in order to do it. "Using design elements from the Subaru Global Platform, the chassis has gained rigidity through a reinforced chassis mounting system, sub-frame architecture and other connection points," Subaru said in its announcement. "Front lateral bending rigidity has been increased by 60 percent for the 2022 model to improve turn-in and response." The 2022 BRZ's suspension configuration carries over as well (struts in front; double-wishbone in the rear) though Subaru says the chassis received comprehensive revisions. Standard wheels on the Premium model remain 17-inchers, while the Limited ups you to 18s. The tire specs remain the same as well, checking in at 215/45 R17 for the Premium and 215/40 R18 for the Limited.

2019 Subaru Crosstrek PHEV will be company's first plug-in hybrid

Fri, May 11 2018

Subaru just announced its first-ever plug-in hybrid, and it comes in the form of its third-best-selling car, the Crosstrek. This is actually fitting in a couple of ways. First off, it's a quick-selling vehicle, but also because the Crosstrek was the model used for Subaru's first conventional hybrid, introduced for the 2014 model year. Sadly, the company has yet to reveal photos of the new hybrid, hence our inclusion of photos of the old model. The Crosstrek PHEV will also have a similarity to the Subaru BRZ in the sense that it benefits from Toyota technology. The company said that the hybrid system comes from Toyota. But don't fear, Subaru fans, it's still mated to a flat-four. The crossover will, like many other PHEVs, be capable of driving in full-EV mode and in conventional hybrid mode. The company hasn't announced how much range it will have. Subaru did reveal that the new PHEV is coming soon, with an on-sale date at the end of 2018. As such we should see photos and more details in the near future. While there aren't many plug-in hybrid compact crossovers, there are a few, and they're fairly compelling. The closest competition will be the Kia Niro PHEV, which has a claimed range of 26 miles and a solid 46 mpg when running with the gas engine. It starts at $28,840. Another potential competitor is the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, which provides 22 miles of electric-only range and a less impressive 25 mpg with the gas engine. The Outlander does boast more cargo space thanks to its bigger body, but also has a higher base price of $35,915. Related Video:

Strange iPhone discovered in guy's Subaru sparks internet mystery

Wed, Apr 19 2017

Things can get pretty crazy on the internet, and even the smallest thing can catch people's attention and blow up in an instant. A lot of it is totally bogus or blatant attention seeking, but that's what makes the internet great. Well, that and cat videos. Recently, a story popped up on the internet that is both cool and real. It's the story of a mysterious iPhone, some pro-tier internet detective-ing, and the Takata airbag recall. The story started innocently enough. A guy named Alex Tom took his trusty '09 Subaru Forester into the shop to replace a faulty passenger side airbag under the Takata recall. When he picked the car up, there was a white iPhone 4s sitting on his dashboard. Thing is, the phone wasn't his. The phone was stone dead, but took a charge and booted right up. To complicate matters, it was locked and stuck in airplane mode. When he asked the shop about it, they said they found it behind the dash under the airbag. So now he had a mysterious phone that he couldn't get into to identify. So, like any modern tech-savvy individual, he turned to the internet for help. He posted a picture of the phone on Facebook along with a message asking for help tracking down its owner. What followed was a long, rambling, often hilarious collection of facetious advice, earnest help, photoshops, dumb memes, weird off-topic screeds, and everything else you might expect in a comments thread. Eventually, after getting a name from the phone and enlisting the help of an online dating site, the owner was found and the mystery solved! I'm not going to spoil the ending for you here, because you really need to read the whole saga for yourself. Lets just say that our man Alex had the answer with him all along, and the real treasure was the friends they made along the way.
