This Subaru Outback had a knock in the engine so I purchased a 2.2 engine that came out of an Impreza. I had read online that the 2.2 engine would bolt right in place and replace the 2.5. I found that the exhaust manifold is different and also there is an electrical thing on the intake that is different. I purchased the exhaust pieces but do not know what to do about the electric thing. I also have the engine that was removed from the car and had it sold on ebay but the buyer never has responded about picking it up. I will also send it with the winning bidder. This would be good for someone who could repair the 2.5 engine that had just had the heads rebuilt before it overheated due to a metal tube not being tightened on the back of the engine. The 2.2 engine is still in the car also if someone knows how to finish installing it with the electric thing on the intake or they could sell that and make some of their money back. Automotive April Fools' joke roundup [w/videos]

Happy April, everyone. And we all know what this first day of the month means: April Fools' Day. Today is a national holiday for pranksters with the Internet acting as a serious enabler, and it's always fun to see what kind of vivid imaginations exist out there in the automotive world. The abundance of fake news gets a little old as the day rolls on, but we did manage to get in a few chuckles thanks to a handful of major automakers and automotive news outlets that got into the pranking spirit this year
Some of our favorites this year includes Subaru showing what happens when you combine a bunch of rumors, a Corvette some may have already thought was a joke or Honda providing some in-car innovation circa the late 1980s. Honestly, we're still waiting for official confirmation from Mitsubishi that the recently introduced 2014 Mirage is an elaborate April Fools' joke using a failed design intended for the 1995 Geo Metro. We dug up as much "official" OEM foolishness we could find, as well as some of our other favorites, and posted them all below.

Subaru recalls 3k Legacy and Outback models for fluid leak

Subaru is recalling 2,893 examples of the 2015-2016 Legacy and Outback because of a potential transmission fluid leak on the two models. The affected vehicles carry build dates between July 3 and July 25, 2015 for the Legacy, and until July 27 on the Outback. According to a Subaru document posted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (as a PDF), during production, the seal cap in the propeller shaft yoke may have been deformed. This could cause a transmission fluid leak, and "there is a possible risk of fire" if the liquid drips onto the exhaust, the report says. Dealers will replace the entire prop shaft on these models, and repairs will start on August 28. New examples will carry a stop-sale until fixed.
