2005 Subaru STI 110,000 miles some modifications. Extremely reliable daily driver.
Modifications Short throw shifter Cold Air intake (way up into front bumper) BOV - Blow of valve Brand new 3" catback exhaust system DVD - Navigation - IPOD control system (DVD works while driving) Amp / crossovers / Sub in the trunk Summer and winter tires. Both have a season in them maybe more depending on how many miles you put on. Tinted windows comes with 9 oil filters. (I don't live near a dealer so I just bought a case.) I just changed the oil today. Oh and I added an always on outlet plug in the trunk. I used it for charging my cellphone while camping during an all weekend volleyball tournament. Features 2.5 Litre turbo 300+ HP stock (it's not stock but I have never had it on a DYNO) 6 speed manual transmission DCCD - Driver Controlled Center Differential (adjustable on the fly the power distribution between the front and rear) IC Spray button - Reservoir in trunk holds water to spray onto the intercooler in the engine compartment helps lower air temperature of intake air. Engine and transmission are better and stronger than the ones that come in the WRX. Different Block, Turbo, exhaust, trans, it is a big step up from a WRX. BBS wheels Brembo brakes (front are 4 piston calipers). 4 wheel disc brakes. Information Just changed the oil. Just installed new 3" catback (nothing high dollar but works great and sounds great) shortly after buying it I had a leak on one of the drive shaft seals. I replaced it and replaced the transmission fluid with full synthetic at that time. Interior is like new. The two tone rally blue is beautiful. Not smoked in no stains or burns. My sweet wife just steam cleaned the heck out it. Could use some time with some bug and tar remover and a lot of elbow work on the outside. The Story I bought this car on ebay two years ago from Boston MA. Flew out and drove it home. Have had a ton of fun driving it for two years. Put 30,000 + miles on it. Made several road trips with it. I Love this car. In the spring I bought a Bronco that I am working on. I have decided to sell the car and the proceeds will complete my Bronco. Then I will pocket the payments I would have made on the Subie and save up for my next toy.. most likely another Subie. I am going to list it on ebay as well as locally so it may end early. I am not willing to take low offers if I have to I will just keep it and love it some more. But if you want to make an offer I am open to hear it. I did track it once. It was so much fun. But I spent all day by the time I drove up and back and track time was a hundred bucks so I never did it again. But glad I did once. Currently has snow tires installed as the summer tires are useless in the snow... even a little of it. Summer tires come with it. The winter ones however are amazing in the snow. The car does have one flaw! The volume up button does not work on the radio. It was like that when I bought it. SO instead of trying to replace a really expensive in dash system....... I bought a remote. Works like a charm. When I bought the car I promptly took out the Sub woofer (it takes up most of the trunk) no idea how to set it up but it is there. Great car. Super fun to drive. Just time for me to change toys and save a little money for the next next one.. lol Happy to answer any questions. The car is located in 14743 if you want to come check it out before bidding just let me know. Thanks for checking it out. Oh yeah no reserve. What ever happens happens. I started it at my bare minimum. |

Consumer Reports no longer recommends Honda Civic
Mon, Oct 24 2016Consumer Reports annual Car Reliability Survey is out, and yes, there are some big surprises. First and foremost? The venerable publication no longer recommends the Honda Civic. In fact, aside from the walking-dead CR-Z and limited-release Clarity fuel-cell car, the Civic is the only Honda to miss out on CR's prestigious nod. At the opposite end there's a surprise as well – Toyota and Lexus remain the most reliable brands on the market, but Buick cracked the top three. That's up from seventh last year, and the first time for an American brand to stand on the Consumer Reports podium. Mazda's entire lineup earned Recommended checks as well. Consumer Reports dinged the Civic for its "infuriating" touch-screen radio, lack of driver lumbar adjustability, the limited selection of cars on dealer lots fitted with Honda's popular Sensing system, and the company's decision to offer LaneWatch instead of a full-tilt blind-spot monitoring system. Its score? A lowly 58. The Civic isn't the only surprise drop from CR's Recommended ranks. The Audi A3, Ford F-150, Subaru WRX/STI, and Volkswagen Jetta, GTI, and Passat all lost the Consumer Reports' checkmark. On the flipside, a number of popular vehicles graduated to the Recommended ranks, including the BMW X5, Chevrolet Camaro, Corvette, and Cruze, Hyundai Santa Fe, Porsche Macan, and Tesla Model S. Perhaps the biggest surprise is the hilariously recall-prone Ford Escape getting a Recommended check – considering the popularity of Ford's small crossover, this is likely a coup for the brand, as it puts the Escape on a level playing field with the Recommended Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, and Nissan Rogue. While Ford is probably happy to see CR promote the Escape, the list wasn't as kind for every brand. For example, of the entire Fiat Chrysler Automobiles catalog, the ancient Chrysler 300 was the only car to score a check – there wasn't a single Dodge, Fiat, Jeep, Maserati, or Ram on the list. That hurts. FCA isn't alone at the low end, either. GMC, Jaguar Land Rover, Mini, and Mitsubishi don't have a vehicle on CR's list between them, while brands like Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Nissan, Lincoln, Infiniti, and Cadillac only have a few models each. Subaru Forester named Motor Trend 2014 SUV of the Year [w/video]
Thu, 10 Oct 2013Each year, Motor Trend hands out its coveted Golden Calipers to its Car, Truck and SUV of the Year, and in the latter category, this year's bragging rights belong to the redesigned Subaru Forester. In the 14-year history of the SUV award category, Subaru is the only automaker to win three times (2009, 2010 and 2014) and the Forester is the only model to make a return appearance having also won the award back in 2009. In the last six years, this award has either gone to a Subaru or to a luxury crossover/SUV (Mercedes GL-Class in 2013, Land Rover Range Rover Evoque in 2012 and Porsche Cayenne in 2011).
Out of the 13 new or updated crossovers and SUVs in contention for the award, the 2014 Forester came out on top thanks its value, fuel efficiency and fun-to-drive attitude. Rather than a head-to-head battle, the utility vehicles are all judged on six criteria (design, engineering, efficiency, safety, value and performance of intended function). Other vehicles on the consideration list included the Acura MDX, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Land Rover Range Rover Sport and Toyota RAV4.

2019 Subaru Ascent vs. 2018 Mazda CX-9: Driving two class leaders side-by-side
Wed, May 23 2018As the de facto replacement for the family sedan, we expect a lot out of modern crossovers. They need to excel at family-hauling duties while delivering reasonable performance and fuel economy. They have to offer all-wheel drive and the latest safety technology. They ought to be ruggedly handsome, and they can't be so prohibitively expensive that the families they are targeting can't afford them. It's a tall order, and some automakers have hit closer to the proverbial bullseye than others. By some stroke of luck, we managed to snag a 2018 Mazda CX-9 Grand Touring as our chariot to take the four-hour drive from Seattle to McMinnville, Ore., where we got our first drive of the 2019 Subaru Ascent. As one of our favorite vehicles in this class, the CX-9 would serve as a good comparison to the Ascent. And, on paper, the similarities are abundant: Both come from automakers with a clear, go-your-own-way approach to vehicle engineering, are powered by turbocharged four-cylinder engines, and offer three rows of seating in a relatively compact package. Put simply, we expect the Ascent and CX-9 to be cross-shopped by a lot of new-car buyers looking for a new family car. What we found is that the CX-9 is the better choice for the buyer who values a sporty driving experience above all else, while the Ascent is probably better for families looking for a healthier dose of practicality. Either option will ably serve the suburban American family they are targeting, but the ways they go about that life of servitude are quite different. It's worth noting that pretty much every automaker in America is selling a vehicle in this class, which means there are a heck of a lot of vehicles from which to choose. For a few other options, check out this spec-sheet comparison here, and for anything else, be sure to visit the handy Autoblog compare tool. With that out of the way, let's break it down a bit more granularly. Styling: View 36 Photos Looks-wise, we prefer the Mazda. A crossover is going to be generally box-shaped, but that doesn't mean it has to be boring. The CX-9's bodywork flows gracefully from nose to tail, with just the right amount of flashiness in the form of headlights that take the form of cat-like eyes, a five-point grille surrounded in chrome, and gently arcing bodyside lines. It all works to form what we think is the most attractive midsize crossover overall. We don't hate the Subaru Ascent's looks, but it's definitely more boring than the CX-9.
