I am the original owner. The car has been very well maintained. The oil was changed every 5,000 miles with Castrol GTX and a Fram Tough Guard oil filter. 99.9% of all the gas in the tank was Shell Premium. (Yes, I have ran out of gas once looking for a Shell station). Even with all the mileage, the ORIGINAL turbo still makes FULL BOOST. The clutch is original too, so are the brake calipers. I've had no problems with the car, I just don't need it anymore.

Brakes are good, with newer ones in the front. Tires are 205/55-16 Continental all-seasons. I purchased them after using my last set of dedicated snow tires. I had 2 full sets of winter and summer tires on OEM wheels for years. However, when I used up the last snows, I sold 3 wheels, but kept one as a spare. That OEM wheel is included, as are 4 extra center caps.

The Check Engine light has been coming on and off (solid, not flashing) for at least 5 years now. The diagnostic code points to some useless pressure loss in the Evap Fuel Recovery or something like that (I don't even remember). I just remember it wasn't important so I never fixed it. Just more government mumbo-jumbo of the EPA sticking their nose in every aspect of the cars we drive. If you live in the E-Check counties here in Ohio, just catch it while it's off and get the E-Check then (allowed up to one year prior to registration). I just did for you, so you're good until 2016 since the certificate is transferrable and it's an even year car.

Speaking of local stuff... if you were directed here by the signs posted on my car, feel free to message me to stop out for a test drive. Click on "Ask a question" and I'll reply with my address so you can come by. Also, I work in Solon, so if you are in between Burton and Solon, I can meet you somewhere with my car. I also go to Mentor a lot. Whatever, just tell me where you live and we'll see if it makes more sense for you to come here or for me to meet you somewhere.

Also, I'll be glad to release the "1 WRX" plate if someone buys it from Ohio and wants it. I can release it through the BMV with a little paperwork I don't mind doing.

The miles are basically highway miles. I also towed a jet-ski to the lake. With all wheel drive it was a breeze on the sandy launch ramps.

The pictures posted are all current from this week.

I am willing to drive the car up to 5 hours away for delivery, as long as you are willing to pay for a one-way ticket for me to fly back to Cleveland (CLE) or Akron/Canton (CAK). I'm not walking back. :-) Another option would be to add an additional $0.55/mile, up to 300 miles away from Burton. So for instance, if I deliver to Cincinnati, which is say 300 miles away, it would be an additional $330 (600 x $0.55). Any questions, ask me before bidding.

I noticed when I took the picture of the rear of the car that the left license plate illumination bulb was burnt out. I have since replaced it with a new one.

Subaru WRX STI Type RA-R has more power, less weight

Mon, Jul 23 2018

Subaru is releasing yet another special high performance WRX STI that's only for its home, Japan. This time it's a variant of the WRX STI Type RA called the Type RA-R. Though it looks very similar to the version we get in the U.S., it has some key differences. Instead of the 310-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder in ours, the RA-R has a 324-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder. It also produces 318 pound-feet of torque, a fair bit more than the 290 of ours. The Type RA-R also boasts additional weight savings. The company says it's about 66 pounds lighter than the WRX STI S208, another special STI similar to our Type RA. That model was already lightened thanks to a carbon fiber roof among other additions. Interestingly, the Type RA-R doesn't appear to have the Bilstein suspension of the S208 or the U.S. Type RA. It does still have Brembo brakes front and rear, though, with six-piston calipers up front and two-piston calipers in the back. Visually the Type RA-R looks fairly similar to its other special edition siblings. It has the extra "Cherry Blossom" red accents in the grille and the rear diffuser. It does have the option to go without the giant rear wing, though, for people who want the performance without shouting about it. The wheels are also downsized from 19 inches on the S208 and U.S.-spec Type RA to 18 inches. Unsurprisingly, this is a very limited edition vehicle. Only 500 will be sold, just like the U.S. Type RA. That is 50 more than the S208, though. The price before taxes is, at current exchange rates, about $41,500. Interestingly, that's a lower price than the American model. Of course it doesn't really matter because, as we already said, this car is for Japan only. Related Video:

Subaru Crosstrek Baja Racer is a glorious blue and gold liveried masterpiece

Thu, May 30 2019

Subaru just revealed its new Baja racer, and it's the coolest one yet. The Crosstrek Desert Racer is now sporting Subaru's traditional blue and gold livery that we all know and love from the many years it was plastered on Impreza-based rally cars. It's hard not to be nostalgic on this one, and we just had to share it. This Crosstrek, which bears about zero resemblance to an actual Crosstrek, is being run in the grueling Baja 500 off-road race through the Baja California Peninsula. Crawford Performance and Grabowski Brothers Racing are running the show, hoping to improve on their second-place finish from last year. The vehicle has a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated flat-four engine built to produce 300 horsepower. It's great to see Subaru continue to expand the blue and gold livery theme to more motorsports efforts. At the 2019 Detroit Auto Show we got to see the same livery on an STI rally car destined for competition. Now this beast of a Baja racer looks ready to strike fear into the hearts of its opponents just the same. The vehicle itself is rather insect-like in nature with the suspension and lights sticking out everywhere. There's still no word on whether the team will try for the big Baja 1000, or just stick to the 500 for 2019. Regardless, it looks supremely capable, and must be an absolute hoot to drive.

Subaru teases the 2019 Forester ahead of New York reveal

Wed, Mar 14 2018

Following Toyota's romantic RAV4 silhouette teaser shot yesterday, Subaru is officially joining in the compact crossover titillating game with a glimpse of the 2019 Forester. Subaru has toyed with pincer-shaped taillights for a few years on its Viziv concepts. The Ascent concept wore another version of the design, but the production Ascent got fitted with a set of highly unoffensive lamps. Looks like the Forester earns the retail nod for the conceptual units, and with it, a wider cargo opening. The taillights on the present Forester impose a scalloped shutline on the tailgate. The split units in this teaser let designers push the tailgate edge just a few inches from the edge of the car. The Ascent could make its presence felt elsewhere, though. We've made out a couple of the flowing character lines underneath camouflage on Forester prototypes that match the Ascent's flanks. Up front, the 2019 Forester gets a much more upright schnozz reminiscsent of the Ascent. The two vehicles differ in grille treatment — the Forester carries over its general design from the current car, but replaces the thick geometric bars with thin strakes similar to the Ascent's. Although larger than the current Forester, we don't expect huge growth anywhere. Migrating to Subaru's Global Platform will make the most of the incremental gains; the much smaller Impreza added three additional cubic feet of cargo room after its switch to the SGP. We don't know if engines will be included in the under-the-skin overhaul, but a welcome swap would be adding the Ascsent's 2.4-liter turbo to the lineup. That lump produces 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque, trumping the 250 hp and 258 lb-ft in the current top-tier Forester 2.0XT Premium. Spy photographers caught the Forester testing alongside a new Honda CR-V and a Volkswagen Tiguan, which means we could be in for a new level of feature and dynamic polish. What we can rely on is a selection of four-cylinder boxer engines and CVTs, plus updated EyeSight driver assistance tech. The debut happens in exactly two weeks at the New York Auto Show, the showroom appearance late this year. Related Video: Image Credit: Subaru New York Auto Show Subaru Crossover Wagon Future Vehicles
