For Sale by Owner

‘08 Impreza WRX Premium (with GPS), 38,000 miles, great condition. Lightning Red - Black Interior (Cloth).  We own it outright, the plates have been removed, it is off insurance, in storage, and the title, bill of Sale, and possible meeting places are good to go.

Hi!

My 08 Impreza is my baby. I took care of her for 4 years after buying it slightly used and in mint condition, 2010. The car had 26,000 miles on it (roughly) and about 38 on it now, although I do have it off the road in storage since I moved to the city five months back. Point is -- I drove it every week, usually every day, and never put any miles on it. The engine has been kept in the perfect condition. I had one accident after driving it all the way up to college the very first time, that a little dings and pings that were worth getting fixed. I blew a valve but it was under warranty so the car has a practically new engine, which was broken in slowly and properly for 5,000 miles (serious perk).  It drives awesome!

Any ‘08 model year WRX is a blast to drive. Quick enough to 40 that you don’t have to shift and fast enough to 60 that second will get you there no problem. I have widened the wheels for a grippy ride and insane winter performance (the best I have ever seen, including friends who have 4-Runners and trucks. Aside from my own notes any other info on the actual ‘08 WRX can be found online.  It is a prime example of a perfectly preserved model (off warranty for any mod heads looking to get 500hp from 8,000 aftermarket, I have a guy for tuning and DYNO if you’re in my area and need it done by a real professional) from that year. The warranty expired based on time not mileage and the car is gorgeous to look at. I will post some pictures I took a few years back.

Premium package includes power windows, heated seats, country wide GPS, upgraded sound system and woofer, and lots more (see the website or Wikipedia for exact information).

After-market parts include: Decals, Enkei GW8 wheels, 225mm Continental Extreme Contact DWS tires (widened from the stock 205mm for more grip and at .8 tred depth – with a warranty from Tire Rack for 50,000 miles), Weather Tech Rain-Guards, Rally Armor UR Mud Flaps, CURT Manufacturing Trailer Hitch with a 1 7/8” Chrome ball hitch and a brand new CURT trailer hitch (I have towed a large U-Haul, in the middle of a Northern New York blizzard, no problem. The car has a 2000lbs towing capacity, which is perfect for your dirt bike and ATV when traveling for camp or traditional family vacation), Dark Window tints all around and a Visor Strip on the windshield, License Plate cover, Multi-Hundred-Dollar insulated weatherproof car cover for outdoor storage, and decals if you want to change the GW8’s to white from red.

I removed the “Subaru” and the “Impreza” decals from the back so it just reads “WRX”.  That with the decals and the plate cover, the window tints and the widened profile you get from rain guards and mud flaps gives the car the meanest look I have ever seen. I have spent years designing; researching and looking for a more esthetically pleasing REX – and you have my word that there is no such car. Especially once you put a Borla exhaust on the back for that perfect amount of noise.

For more info, or to just talk about the car (one fan to another), please give me a call and I can answer all your questions -- 914-960-2595 or brscag10@gmail.com

Subaru teasing new WRX S4 model ahead of Japanese debut

Fri, 25 Jul 2014

The Subaru WRX range is growing just a little bit larger, at least in Japan, with the automaker's teasing announcement of a new version called the S4. Unfortunately, the company is keeping details about its latest all-wheel drive sport sedan a closely guarded secret for the moment.
From what we can glean, it appears that the S4 might be a more luxurious take on the WRX. According to the release, the name stands for the four qualities that Subaru wants the sedan to have: "'Sports performance', 'Safety performance', 'Smart driving' and 'Sophisticated feel.'" As part of this focus, the car comes with the company's EyeSight camera system. Thankfully, we don't have too long to wait to find out what all of the buzz words actually mean because Subaru is unveiling the S4 on August 25 in Japan.
The automaker also launched a teaser website for the S4 that you can cheek out, here, but at the moment it doesn't provide any more details about the new sport sedan. The site just has countdown until the August reveal. There's also no indication yet whether this potentially more premium WRX could make it US shores. Scroll down to read the Subaru's rather concise teaser for the upcoming S4.

Cosworth announces Power Packages for Subaru BRZ, Scion FR-S with up to 380 hp [w/video]

Sat, 31 May 2014

Cosworth stands on the list of the most famous engine tuners in the world with its DFV engine engine dominating Formula One for a time in the '70s. So when it teases plans to take on the FA20 engine from Subaru and Toyota found in the BRZ, Scion FR-S and Toyota GT86 abroad, our interest is indeed piqued. Cosworth is promising to take the 2.0-liter, four-cylinder boxer engine from its current 200 horsepower all the way to 325 hp and even 380 hp in a future track version through a series of staged Power Packages. At the moment, only the first stage is available that takes the mill to a potent 230 hp.
Cosworth says that its new strategy is to offer its upgrades in kits rather than individually so that it can be sure that everything works and fits when owners receive it. The Stage 1 Power Package emphasizes helping the FA20 breathe better and includes a nearly complete replacement for the stock exhaust system. There is a sports exhaust with four-inch, diagonally cut, polished tips and Y-shaped muffler, an overpipe front pipe with a spherical resonator and a new manifold header that is 22 percent lighter the standard unit. In addition to that, the kit comes with a software reflash, low temperature thermostat, Cosworth badge and plaque.
The stage one kit is available now, and stages two and three go on sale later this summer, according to its website. Autoblog contacted Cosworth for pricing information for the kits. We will update this story, if we hear back. The company also released a video showing off the exhaust upgrades. Scroll down to watch it and read the full release, below.

2018 Subaru BRZ tS Drivers' Notes | Wings and things

Wed, Aug 15 2018

It's a little hard to believe the Subaru BRZ and Toyota 86 (formerly the Scion FR-S) are entering their seventh model year. Both cars debuted back in 2012 and, save for a minor update last year, the cars remain unchanged. Power still comes from a 205-horsepower naturally-aspirated flat-four. That's not a lot on paper, but it's decent enough for a car that comes in under 2,900 pounds. This particular test car is one of just 500 tS special editions coming to the U.S. In addition to the wing, side skirts and wheels, the tS gets Michelin Pilot Sport summer tires, Brembo brakes, Sachs dampers and STI strut braces. It makes the tS the sharpest and best-performing BRZ in the car's seven-year run. You do pay for the extra kit, and if it's not your thing, you can still get a pretty well-equipped car for around $30,000. Editor-in-chief Greg Migliore: I sought out errands on the other side of town during my weekend in the BRZ tS. It's a blast in a way only some enthusiasts will love. The heavy steering, the low-to-the-ground profile, the rock-hard chassis — take your protein pills, man. This isn't something you want to drive when your back hurts or you're slightly hungover. No it's not a '90s Viper, and you don't need goggles and gloves, but in this era of high-horsepower SUVs with sanitized comfort modes, you need to show up with your reflexes sharp to master the BRZ, especially in track-tuned tS trim. Not every enthusiast will want this. A muscled-up Mustang or Challenger might be a better bet for long commutes on straight roads, while this Subie demands you meet its needs on something open and with a twist. It's fun. But it's intense. Consumer Editor Jeremy Korzeniewski: Not surprisingly, a pair of braces to stiffen the chassis, stiffer springs over Sachs dampers, big Brembo brakes and Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires on lightweight 18-inch wheels all conspire to make the tS the best Subaru BRZ I've ever driven. There's an aggressive body kit, too, but my time with the tS was limited to some fun runs on public roads, so I never hit the speeds where you'd really experience the aero benefits. Thing is, boosting the car's at-the-limit handling abilities really serves as a reminder that the engine isn't all that powerful. It's the same exact 2.0-liter four-cylinder boxer that powers every other BRZ. These days, 205 horsepower and 156 pound-feet of torque feels decidedly uninspired, particularly at the tS's asking price of $34,355.
