FREE Shipping to the lower 48 states*! Carfax report! 40+ High-Res pictures and over 30 minutes of video!

Read this first: This is a used and heavily modified car, please know what you're getting into. The engine, suspension, brakes, interior, electrical system, body, and various other components on this car have been modified or replaced with aftermarket parts, which will affect the performance, economy, reliability, safety, and potentually legality (if you live in a state that cares about emissions) of this vehicle. If you are comfortable with tuning, are an enthusiast looking for an awesome platform to play with, and you are comfortable with tinkering (or can afford to pay someone to tinker for you) - then you will absolutely love this car. If you're not confident that a modified car is for you, please close this listing now and go look for a stock WRX - they are great cars! Please read the listing carefully, ask questions, and keep this in mind before you bid, I want the new owner to be happy with what they get.

2006 Subaru Impreza WRX TR

You're looking at a clean southern WRX with a ton of recent maintenance and performance goodies. This car should be capable of a reliable 300+ WHP with a tune!

The story (why am I selling?)

I got this car this past winter with the intention of using it for track days and time trials. If you know anything about Subarus, you know they rust like crazy, so when I saw how clean this southern car was underneath, I just had to have it. The fact that it was a TR (no sunroof, less weight) was a bonus for me as well. It needed a little work when I got it, so I took the time to go over the entire thing and replace/fix anything that even remotely needed it in order to ensure reliability at the track. It was a nice winter project, but in the summer my priorities shifted back towards rally, and I decided to focus on my rally car instead. The car received a very conservative, low boost, non-meth tune so that I could use it as a daily driver. However, since I live 2 miles from work and have another daily driver, the car pretty much just sat in my parents garage most of the year, I've only put about 1500 miles on it. I'm selling this car to free up some space and money for my rally projects, my loss, your gain! Hopefully this gorgeous car goes to someone who can truly appreciate it.

Modifications and Recent Maintenance (most things on this list have less than 1000 miles)

Engine
* Low mileage VF30 turbo with custom waste gate bracket for an EWG setup (not welded shut!)

* Custom 3" turbo cat-less turbo back (note: car does not have any catalytic converters at all)

Condition

Exterior
This car is originally from the south, and has only seen one winter worth of snow/salt, so the body is in great condition rust wise. That said, this is an 8 year old car with 100+k miles on it, so there are the normal dings, scratches, and paint chips (see pictures). The car has been in a minor fender bender at some point (see Carfax report), a fender and headlight have been replaced and the whole car resprayed. I had the fenders off to confirm that there is absolutely no evidence of frame damage and the paint job was as good or better than factory Subaru. The car has been hand washed and hand waxed during the time that I've owned it.

Interior
Interior is about average for the cars age and mileage. The seats and door cards have shampooed and steam vac'd by me this summer. The only blemishes are some wear on a steering wheel, a small burn mark in the rear seat (see pictures). There used to be a 3-pillar gauge-pod installed on the car (comes with it), so there are a couple small holes in the trim on the drivers side and the passenger side trim is painted black to match. It seems the car has been smoked in at some point, though the previous owner was not a smoker and neither am I. A/C needs a recharge according to the PO, I haven't driven the car in hot weather, so I haven't touched it.

Engine
The car has a very conservative daily driver tune on it right now and runs great. Always starts up on the first try, there is no smoke, leaks, or weird noises. Even though it's rare, for full disclosure, like most modified cars, there is an occasional check engine light. In this case it's an occasional random misfire, most likely due to the light weight flywheel - well known issue with Subarus. Car drives fine, and you can't feel it, but the light does come on. There is also a small pinhole leak in the down pipe, it's pretty irrelevant since the EWG dump tube dumps about 4 inches away anyway. Tune wise, it's a very safe DD tune, so it is at around stock WRX power levels, and will need a different map (up to you) to boost over stock levels and make use of meth injection.

Suspension
Great condition. I think the car used to have aftermarket suspension on it, because this one feels like it's brand new. Rides awesome, handles awesome.

Brakes
Brand new, feel fantastic. ABS light is on due to sensor (according to PO). I don't like Subaru ABS at all (I think it's way too sensitive), so I haven't bothered fixing it.

BONUS PARTS!

A $1000 worth of goodies that will come with the car -
* TBO TD05-20G turbocharger. Freshly rebuilt
* Air pump parts. In case you want to put it back for some reason
* Alpine Subwoofer/enclosure - can be hooked up in the trunk!
* JVC touchscreen double DIN head unit.
* Kenwood amp - can be hooked up in the trunk!

Factory Five's Subaru WRX-based 818 kit now on sale [w/video]

Fri, 21 Mar 2014

The Subaru WRX has always needed a dash more style, and the do-it-yourself carmakers at Factory Five are looking to accomplish a lot more than that with their new mid-engine, rear-wheel drive 818. The sports car started with a contest in 2011 to create the shape for the company's next vehicle, while sticking within certain limits. A designer named Nouphone Bansasi had his entry chosen, and first cars were completed last year.
The 818 is named after its target weight of 818 kilograms (1,803 pounds), and it's offered in two forms. The S starts at $9,990 and is meant for street use, with two seats and a basic interior. The R model for $10,990 is more track-focused and features a tiny windshield and full roll cage. The company claims that complete cars can be built for around $15,000, after factoring in the donor Subaru. Performance is very brisk, with acceleration to 60 miles per hour in under four seconds, according to Motor Authority.
The kits are meant to be something that even a relative novice could put together. All the builder needs to provide is a 2002-2007 Impreza or WRX. The car donates its turbocharged boxer four-cylinder engine, transmission, axles, brakes, steering and other major components. Factory Five supplies the spaceframe, body, suspension, lights, windshield and some interior trim. It doesn't even need paint, thanks to its gel-coated fiberglass body panels. The company also offers a laundry list of options, including carbon fiber aero components, upgraded suspension parts, improved brakes and more. Kits can be ordered in either left- or right-hand drive.

Subaru gives Aussies BRZ Sports Pack

Mon, 08 Jul 2013

Well, it might not be exactly the Subaru BRZ STI that we've all been waiting for, but Australian market shoppers are now going to have the option of adding some STI flavor to their coupe, with this new BRZ S.
Critically, the Sports Pack upgrades included in the S specification do not involve forced induction of any kind for the BRZ's 2.0-liter flat-four mill. Instead, the BRZ S will offer a novel flexible strut tower brace and a coilover suspension to aid its already impressive handling prowess. Visually, the car gets a new aero kit with lowered skirts and a new front and rear splitter, as well as some mean-looking, 17-inch black wheels. Inside, a new gearlever and a STI-branded starter button will call out the S model.
The S package can be ordered on a new BRZ and fitted at the dealer, or added to an existing customer car. When ordered new, the BRZ S adds $7,995 Australian - about $7,275 US including installation - to the price of the six-speed manual car, or $7,195 Australian ($6,547 US) for the six-speed automatic transmission model. That's a pretty fat wedge of cash, but it's worth bearing in mind that Australians generally pay significantly more for new cars than we do here in the States. For instance, the BRZ starts at $37,150 Australian, nearly $34k US. Even accounting for regional equipment differences, that's a lot more than the BRZ's $26,265 as-delivered base MSRP here in America.

2017 Subaru Impreza makes a stand in the compact segment

Thu, Mar 24 2016

If the 2016 Honda Civic was a revelation for the brand as a rebuke of the past couple of generations of their brand-and-butter compact, the 2017 Subaru Impreza appears to be on a parallel trajectory for the lauded all-weather performance brand. Unveiled Tuesday at the 2016 New York Auto Show, the 2017 Impreza brings in an all-new platform that is stiffer, sportier, and a much-needed improvement to stay competitive as the segment tightens up. The car features styling cues that are potentially the most attractive we've seen on a non-WRX model since the turn of the century. The car looks downright European in either sedan or hatchback form, stealing much of the thunder that the Mazda 3 and Civic had brought just a short time ago. Its lines are clean all around, the front and rear are largely without aerodynamic clutter, and much of that style is carried over to the interior that gets a much needed refresh. Gone are the overly utilitarian surfaces and buttons; a clear shift has been made to make the car seem on-par with class leaders like the Civic and Mazda 3, albeit with its own distinctive Subaru style. The dashboard seems just as straightforward as before, but packs the necessary technology to remain competitive in the segment. It seems that Subaru has listened to critiques of the outgoing Impreza, and sought out a way to continue the tradition of making AWD alternatives to the mainstream compacts, but this time without compromises on content. Up and down the four-trim model chain (2.0i, Premium, Sport, Limited), standard equipment is greatly improved. Even the standard 2.0i model will come with the necessary power features that anyone would expect, along with a much-needed 6.5" touchscreen interface that dual-boots with Android Auto and Apple Car Play - something that even the base trim Honda Civic LX does not have, and perhaps, that should put Honda on notice. In the very competitive compact segment, content is king. With standard equipment being on par with or exceeding the headlining Civic and Corolla, the added convenience of AWD is the cherry on top in places with cooler climates. Without major changes to the powertrain (slight power gains for the standard 2.0 H4 and an updated CVT), fuel economy perhaps remains to be the only caveat to the Impreza being a class-leading choice. With the current model rated at 28/37 compared to the Civic's 31/42, a slight improvement wouldn't be much in the grand scheme of things.
