2005 Subaru STI 110,000 miles some modifications.  Extremely reliable daily driver.

Modifications
Short throw shifter
Cold Air intake (way up into front bumper)
BOV - Blow of valve
Brand new 3" catback exhaust system
DVD - Navigation - IPOD control system (DVD works while driving)
Amp / crossovers / Sub in the trunk
Summer and winter tires.  Both have a season in them maybe more depending on how many miles you put on.

Tinted windows
comes with 9 oil filters.  (I don't live near a dealer so I just bought a case.) I just changed the oil today.

Oh and I added an always on outlet plug in the trunk.  I used it for charging my cellphone while camping during an all weekend volleyball tournament.

Features
2.5 Litre turbo 300+ HP stock (it's not stock but I have never had it on a DYNO)
6 speed manual transmission
DCCD - Driver Controlled Center Differential (adjustable on the fly the power distribution between the front and rear)
IC Spray button - Reservoir in trunk holds water to spray onto the intercooler in the engine compartment helps lower air temperature of intake air.
Engine and transmission are better and stronger than the ones that come in the WRX.  Different Block, Turbo, exhaust, trans, it is a big step up from a WRX.
BBS wheels
Brembo brakes (front are 4 piston calipers).  4 wheel disc brakes.

Information
Just changed the oil.
Just installed new 3" catback (nothing high dollar but works great and sounds great)
shortly after buying it I had a leak on one of the drive shaft seals.  I replaced it and replaced the transmission fluid with full synthetic at that time.
Interior is like new.  The two tone rally blue is beautiful.  Not smoked in no stains or burns.  My sweet wife just steam cleaned the heck out it.
Could use some time with some bug and tar remover and a lot of elbow work on the outside.

The Story
I bought this car on ebay two years ago from Boston MA.  Flew out and drove it home.  Have had a ton of fun driving it for two years.  Put 30,000 + miles on it.  Made several road trips with it.  I Love this car.  In the spring I bought a Bronco that I am working on.  I have decided to sell the car and the proceeds will complete my Bronco.  Then I will pocket the payments I would have made on the Subie and save up for my next toy.. most likely another Subie.  I am going to list it on ebay as well as locally so it may end early.  I am not willing to take low offers if I have to I will just keep it and love it some more.  But if you want to make an offer I am open to hear it.

I did track it once.  It was so much fun.  But I spent all day by the time I drove up and back and track time was a hundred bucks so I never did it again.  But glad I did once.  Currently has snow tires installed as the summer tires are useless in the snow... even a little of it.  Summer tires come with it.  The winter ones however are amazing in the snow.  The car does have one flaw!  The volume up button does not work on the radio.  It was like that when I bought it.  SO instead of trying to replace a really expensive in dash system....... I bought a remote.  Works like a charm.  When I bought the car I promptly took out the Sub woofer (it takes up most of the trunk) no idea how to set it up but it is there.

Great car.  Super fun to drive.  Just time for me to change toys and save a little money for the next next one.. lol

Happy to answer any questions.  The car is located in 14743 if you want to come check it out before bidding just let me know.

Thanks for checking it out.

Oh yeah no reserve.  What ever happens happens.  I started it at my bare minimum.

Subaru CEO expects record U.S. sales in 2020 despite market slowdown

Sun, Dec 15 2019

TOKYO  - Subaru expects its U.S. vehicle sales to rise to a record high in 2020, as demand for its crossover models helps it buck the trend of slowing car sales in the Japanese automaker's biggest market. The company has been growing rapidly in the United States, the world's No. 2 auto market, roughly doubling the number of vehicles sold over the past six years, thanks in part to a ramp-up in local production capacity and a marketing strategy focused mainly on affluent and liberal-minded consumers. Japan's smallest automaker said that ongoing U.S. demand for its Forester and Outback models would likely boost overall sales in the country to 720,000 to 730,000 units next year, up by as much as 4.3% from the around 700,000 vehicles it expects to sell by the end of this year. "We expect the U.S. market to slow only slightly next year, so we're planning to see more growth in our sales. We think we can achieve this," CEO Tomomi Nakamura told reporters in Tokyo. He added that he saw room for the automaker to expand its share of the SUV market, which stands at around 7% at the moment, given that Subaru's SUV models outsell its Legacy and Impreza sedan models. "If competition in the U.S. SUV market continues, that segment will keep growing even as the overall market slows," he said. U.S. sales account for around 65% of Subaru's total global sales of around 1 million units. By the end of November, sales of the Forester this year had climbed 6.4% from a year ago, while sales of the Outback, its best-selling model in the country, were up 0.9%. However, the rapid growth in the country has coincided with a jump in global quality-related issues which has sapped profitability in the past year or so. Subaru recalls 3k Legacy and Outback models for fluid leak

Tue, Aug 25 2015

Subaru is recalling 2,893 examples of the 2015-2016 Legacy and Outback because of a potential transmission fluid leak on the two models. The affected vehicles carry build dates between July 3 and July 25, 2015 for the Legacy, and until July 27 on the Outback. According to a Subaru document posted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (as a PDF), during production, the seal cap in the propeller shaft yoke may have been deformed. This could cause a transmission fluid leak, and "there is a possible risk of fire" if the liquid drips onto the exhaust, the report says. Dealers will replace the entire prop shaft on these models, and repairs will start on August 28. New examples will carry a stop-sale until fixed. Transmission oil may leak from a deformed seal cap on the propeller shaft yoke. CONSEQUENCE: If the transmission oil leaks onto the exhaust pipe, there is a possible risk of fire. REMEDY: Subaru will notify owners, and dealers will replace the propeller shaft, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on August 28, 2015. Owners may contact 1-800-782-2783. Subaru WRX and STI meet at the dyno with interesting results

Wed, 26 Feb 2014

Road and Track recently put the 2015 Subaru WRX and the 2015 WRX STI through a battery of dyno tests to find out not only how much difference there is between their two engines, but what kind of differences there are. The WRX gets the company's new FA20 2.0-liter boxer four-cylinder engine with features like a twin-scroll turbocharger, direct injection and variable valve timing on its two cams. The WRX STI stands pat with the older EJ-Series motor, meaning a 2.5-liter boxer four-cylinder with port fuel injection and carryover turbo lag. Subaru pegs the $26,295 WRX at 268 horsepower, 258 pound-feet of torque and an "extremely conservative" 0-60 mile per hour time of 5.4 seconds. The $34,495 STI clocks in at 305 hp and 290 lb-ft with a 0-60 mph time of 5.1 seconds. Ok, fight.
R&T's dyno runs sussed power numbers at the wheel of 223 hp and 245 lb-ft for the WRX, 247 hp and 243 lb-ft for the STI, then went on to demonstrate in numbers what everyone knew: that the WRX consistently puts out more of its torque earlier than the STI and achieves full boost almost three seconds quicker. On the other hand, on the track, the STI was also shown to have a conservative official 0-60 mph time, stopping the timer at 4.8 seconds compared to the WRX's 5.2 seconds.
The mag says it has comprehensive results coming from its "complete battery of tests," but for now, you can scrutinize their dyno charts and let the battle continue about which one you'd rather put your money down for.
