Just traded this nice higher mileage 2010 Subaru Forester that has a manual transmission. We are selling this vehicle as-is because of several flaws that we chose not to repair and sell as retail on our lot.
The body and interior are in very good condition with only minor scratches on the exterior, deep tread on the Michelin tires and it runs great. There is a large chip in the windshield which, depending in which state you live, may be able to be repaired rather than have to replace the whole windshield. The check engine light is on along with the VSC/Trac light and the cruise is blinking which after some internet research appears to indicate that the catalytic convertor is malfunctioning. Apparently this is a common problem with these vehicles. Our very low reserve price has been adjusted to reflect these issues. If you are handy and can get aftermarket parts - this will make someone a great vehicle at a very aggressive price - way below trade in value!

Again - this Subaru will be sold as-is with no warranty actual or implied. The buyer will be responsible for transportation to their home location and for all taxes, tags , other fees and state inspection.

The successful bidder will have to pay our $200 documentary fee in addition to the winning bid amount. No exceptions - dealership rules. We can not issue a temporary tag because the vehicle is sold without a MD inspection. We can accept cash, personal checks, bank checks and wire transfers. Partial payment up to $2500 can be made by major credit cards with the balance paid by the above methods.

Subaru uses a mime and a toy car to explain why it loves the boxer engine

I will freely admit to struggling with why Subaru continues to stubbornly employ a boxer engine design while so few other automakers do the same. After all, with twice the number of cylinder heads and cams as a traditional inline four-cylinder engine, a boxer four is more complex, more expensive to manufacture and more cumbersome to service with few tangible benefits. Until recently, the company's engines struggled to meet the fuel economy numbers of its competitors while offering no real boon in horsepower or torque. Subaru seems to recognize I'm not the only one scratching my head.
In order to help us non-believers understand what's what, the company has employed a pair of mimes, a toy car and a few clay engines to demonstrate the folly of every other automaker on the planet. Subaru says the boxer offers up a lower center of gravity than either an inline four-cylinder engine or a V6, which I will gladly concede. The company also says the design offers up smoother operation.
I'll offer just two counterpoints here. First, an engine with a low center of gravity is excellent, but when vehicles like the Forester, XV Crosstrek and Outback boast more ground clearance than most mainstream SUVs, that argument flies out the window. Second, anyone who's spent any amount of time behind the wheel of a vehicle equipped with an inline four and then proceeded to move into one propelled by a boxer can tell you the latter has all of the idling manners of a small tractor. Racey Subaru BRZ spied on New York Auto Show floor [UPDATE]

UPDATE: Subaru had the same BRZ out on the show stand this morning, so we added a full gallery. Turns out the car is called Subaru STI Performance Concept... full info available later this afternoon. Subaru is doing something very interesting with the BRZ at the New York Auto Show. Unfortunately, actual details about it are nonexistent at this point, but a user with the screenname The359 posted these two photos from the floor of the event on the FT86 Club forums, by way of an Instagram page. This BRZ appears to get a pretty thorough makeover with big, L-shaped LED running lights on the edges of the more aggressive front air dam, widened fenders and a rather nicely integrated hood bulge, which suggests the possibility of a more powerful engine underneath. The profile photo provides an even better look at the body kit, and it's practically impossible to miss the massive wing at the back that should keep the coupe sticking to the ground. In all, it bears a striking resemblance to the Subaru BRZ Concept STI that was shown at Los Angeles way back in 2011. It's not currently clear whether this is just a high performance concept to tease us, or the more powerful BRZ that many people are looking for. Regardless, the car definitely piques our interest.
