RIP OFF, THEY LIE

I have never seen anything like what these people charge. 4 spark plugs, they tried to charge me $125.. timing belt 1500.. I had the spark plugs done in Pittsboro for 50 and a timing belt put on for 650. I have a friend who recently went here before she bought a car thinking she could trust that they would tell her everything wrong before she bought. She stressed to make sure the head gasket wasen`t blown, because at... view more 100,000 miles that happens and they said no problem. Well they told her it was fine, she bought the car and then 1 day later took the car back to them to have a couple routine things done and they told her the head gasket was blown and had been. She responded with, what! that was the one thing that I told you guys to check before I bought. They acted like it wasen`t there problem, so they are now fighting this in small claims court. Why did it have to come to this? Why couldn`t they have caught the blown head gasket when she paid to have it checked over the first time. WAY TO GO CHAPEL HILL TIRE. They are nice, but snakes. Watch out what they do. I wish I would have talked to my friend before even messing around with them. Luckily I learned my lesson and will now stay away from there. DO THE SAME!! IF YOUR LOOKING TO HAVE A CAR CHECKED OUT BEFORE YOU BUY, DO NOT COME HERE. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR THEM TO CHECK IT OVER OR DO ANY WORK. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE, DON`T WASTE YOUR TIME ON THESE PEOPLE. Don`t go here for emissions inspections!!!

They charged me for extra things in my car that were fine. Not the best place for emissions inspections!

Rip off!

I am pretty upset about the scam Chapel Hill Tire attempted to run on me when I brought my car in for a new timing belt and water pump (preventative maintenance at 120,000). I had emailed them in advance for a quote on the timing belt - around $380 (which I knew sounded pretty low). When I dropped the car off I had a feeling the price was going to sky rocket - I got a call 2 hours later with a quote of $902 with th... view moree water pump included! I refused, picked up the car and started calling for quotes - a local garage at $580 and a dealership at $715. At Chapel Hill Tire, the price of parts were quoted almost double and the labor $100+ more then what I ended up paying. With auto care there is a huge trust issue for customers that I feel was completely taken advanage of by Chapel Hill Tire. Luckily my auto work was preventative and I was not stranded having to get the work done there, just inconvenienced. I am not sure if the workers get payed more if they get away with charging customers more but if so, that policy is extremely unfair in this type of market. Call around for quotes before bringing your car there - go to Pittsboro Auto Care instead.
