I was looking for a local plac...
I was looking for a local place to get a 2 wheel alignment and decided to go to the Amsterdam Adirondack Tire Center. A previous garage that did some work for me closed so I couldn`t go back to them. I was given an 8 AM appointment by Mark the manager. Upon arriving I was told it was going to be several hours as they were short an employee, but they did get my car in within an hour. I was then told that I needed a... view moren outer tie rod end and lower control arm. My $70 expectation suddenly was going to be $485+tax! I said that was beyond what I could spend and went home to call and get quotes on parts and another shops estimate. I called Mavis in Johnstown and spoke with Chris that quoted at most $375 including tax. I called Mark back and asked if he could match that price. He refused. I then went up to Mavis who then informed me I did NOT need the extra parts and actually took me in the shop and showed me. In the end, Mavis only charged me $64 which included rotating my tires! Hurray for Chris at Mavis in Johnstown for his honesty. Boo Hiss on Mark at the Adirondack Tire Center. This is a warning for anyone considering the ATC that they may not be honest or even price competitive
