I purchased a certified 08 Dod...

I purchased a certified 08 Dodge Avenger from Herbee Dodge in West Islip in April of 2011. Four months later, On the way home frm work, the car burst into flames. i put the fire out myself rather than waiting for the fire dept. Had I waited, massive property damage would have been done, not to mention the risk to people`s lives. I returned to Herbee and spoke to the used car dealer to try to make things right. He tol... view mored me " I don`t build the cars, I only sell them". After 2 days of runarounds I was offered $1000 off of his selection of already overpriced used cars. I did no better with Dodge corporate. They initially assigned me a case number, but then called the next day to tell me I was insured so they "where done with me". This is unacceptable behavior from a national car company and local dealer. I figured I would give American car companies another chance after buying Japanese cars for the last 9 years. Lesson learned. Never buying an American car again, especially a Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep. Buyer beware
